    Multiple Errors

Update: There was a grounding rod that was broken off. This is located inside the frunk area on the driver's side. Fortunately there was another one right beside it, so I simply moved the wires to that one, and the problem is fixed.

    Multiple Errors

I let the car sit all weekend under the car port (I was gone most of the weekend). All the errors have gone away now. I do think it is related to the snow. I think the left front fendor area has been too packed with snow, causing some gaps between the vendor covers and the wheel well. So it...

    Multiple Errors

I have a 2015 Model S. Last night I got these errors. They went away for a bit and then came back. The left headlight is flickering, and I lost power steering and power braking. Basically, it isn't safely driveable. Any idea what would cause this? ESP_w003 Traction Control Disabled BC_W005...

Error: Maximum charge level and range may be reduced

So, I got this dreaded message on Sunday. But it went away once we charged up. I took it to Service, and they want $1,100 to check it out. Is it worth it? The manual says "if error persists take to service...and it didn't persist. But am I risking damaging the battery by not talking it? I...

    Model S 2015 70 D software limited battery?

I have heard that some S70Ds in 2015 were software limited. How can I tell if mine is? Do I need to ask Tesla? It shows 06/15 as the manufacture date. If it is software limited, I wonder if they would let me upgrade?

    90 Watt vs 100 Watt

That being the case, it does seem like 90 kWh is the way to go. What about charging speeds? Is it likely both would be roughly the same? That is one of the most significant issues for me with the 70D.
  7. S

    90 Watt vs 100 Watt

Does anyone have good information about the difference in range between a 100-kWh and a 90-kWh battery in a Model S? Is it roughly 45 miles? I have a 2015 model S 70D that I will probably upgrade. There is a big difference in cost between the 90 and the 100...trying to decide if it is worth it...

    Camping?

Awesome. Hey, do you mind sharing what kind of teardrop trailer you have, and what you get for watts per mile? I have a Model S70D and I may upgrade to the 100KW battery pack. If I did that, I think I might get a trailer.

    Camping?

With the 30 amp site, do you get about 6 mph or so? What is the charging speed?
  10. S

    Camping?

Yea, this weekend we just had a 120 connection, and it worked fine. But for Crater Lake, we plan to drive up and around the rim each day, so it will add up with all the hills. It would be nice to get back, plug in, and full charge by morning.

    Camping?

Hey, have any of you done much camping in your Tesla? I’ve been a bit frustrated that many RV sights don’t allow you to use them with the car and a tent. So it seems really difficult to find a spot with a 50 amp charger. I would love to be able to plug in and have a full charge by morning, and...

    parking brake fault

I had this error a couple of times...but it was clear the brake wasn't actually engaged. I wonder if it is a sensor issue. But the error seems to have gone away...which makes me a little nervous of course.

    New Battery or New Car?

One question about upgrading the battery. In my 2015 Model S70D, it doesn't seem like the battery preconditions. Would it precondition with a new battery?
  14. S

    New Battery or New Car?

Yea! I have been looking at their site, and that is cool. I wish they had a shop on the west coast though!

    New Battery or New Car?

That makes sense for sure, and by the time my car dies, I may feel the same. But I also love the idea of keeping the car and saving the money.

    120volt to 220 adapter

The "on different phases" part is what I am worried about. I am not familiar with how common that would be. But I do love being able to plug in where we stay, and doubling the charging speed there would be nice. My 2016 model S charges pretty slow on superchargers.
  17. S

    120volt to 220 adapter

What do you guys think of buying one of these? When traveling, if we rent a house there may not be a 220 volt connector available, but surely there would be two 120-volt circuits, right? Does anyone have experience using one of these...

This sound went away after a day. I believe something just got stuck in the fan and then fell out.

    New Battery or New Car?

I own a 2016 Model S 70D. It currently has 161,000 miles on it. I love the car, and am hoping the battery lasts a LONG time. It currently charges to 214 miles, which is fine for me. My question for discussion is this: When the battery finally does die, should I buy a new car or upgrade the...

We have a loud fan noise going. Anyone had this happen or know what is causing it? It sounds like a fan rubbing maybe. https://photos.app.goo.gl/1Hqbp4Eu4LWX4NydA

Sorry for the delay in getting back on this. I did get an accurate quote finally, and it is $85 for the part, plus 126 for labor. I have it scheduled!

Vendor Upgrade your Model S/X at 057 Tech - More range, more power!

What if I wait until my current battery dies? How much more money would it cost, without a good battery in the car?

Vendor Upgrade your Model S/X at 057 Tech - More range, more power!

Very cool. I gotta tell you, I really want a P100 battery for my S70D. Do I NEED it? Not really. But I want it! :)
  24. S

Charge port sensor fault and part availability

Oh wow, you are right they are STILL quoting the wrong part. I am going to have them update it. I'll get back to you all once I have good information.

    2015 Model S 70 Battery Replacement Options

Also does it charge faster now?
  26. S

Charge port sensor fault and part availability

Thanks! But for me, they are quoting $469 to replace the charge port door assembly. Just the part cost $385.

    2015 Model S 70 Battery Replacement Options

Can you tell me what the total cost was (as in, how much would it have cost if you had not had a warranty)?
  28. S

Charge port sensor fault and part availability

I have the same issue. My question is this: What is the harm in just leaving it? It is a little inconvenient, but maybe it isn't worth replacing if it isn't doing any further damage.

    Model S 2016 70D Wheel Well Fabric

During the ice and snow weather, the felt part of the inside of the passenger side wheel well came loose and eventually tore off completely. I still have the piece. Does anyone know what part I need to have to replace that? Or even how important it is? It seems like it must protect wiring and...

    Model S 70D 2015

I am glad to hear that you were able to upgrade the battery. If and when this one fails, and if the car is still doing fine, I may do that. May I ask how much that cost? And did you do it because of a failed battery?
  31. S

    Model S 70D 2015

I love my 2015 Model S70D, and enjoy the free supercharging. However, I also have a 2018 Model 3 that I bought new, and I have noticed the Model S takes longer to charge. I have heard that the model S was "nurfed" to charge slower, to protect the battery. Is there a way around that at all? I...

    Is my battery dead?

The repair is now complete, so I am picking up the car this evening. No change in the estimate, and nothing else we discovered. The total cost of the repair was $1,078.50 (not including towing). I am really glad it wasn't anything more serious. However, it seems like the heater dying caused...

    Is my battery dead?

I could get a used heater online for under $200. I bet I could actually do this myself. But since I would have to tow it home, it probably isn't worth it.
  34. S

    Is my battery dead?

I asked them for more details, and they said this: "Diagnosed and found the PTC heater has low isolation resistance. Will need PTC header and 12v battery replaced. 12v battery died due to being unsupported because of the PTC header fault."
  35. S

    Is my battery dead?

Ok, good to know. I wish Tesla was more communicative about what is going on. Maybe they will give me a better run down once they are done.
  36. S

    Is my battery dead?

We finally had the diagnostics done. It looks like HVAC, PTC SERVICE ASSY(1107677-00-A), PTC HEATER DUAL ZONE(1088218-00-I), and ASY,12V BATT AND VENT PLUG,M3(1129182-00-B). I have also attached a screenshot of the estimate. Total cost so far in addition to towing is $1,078.50. They did say the...

    Is my battery dead?

I hope you are right. When I called in, the tech initially said "oh, this is the 12volt battery". But when I read her the BMS_A151 and BMS_A035 alerts, she said "oh, you need to get this looked at, it might be more than that". I was considering replacing the 12-volt battery at the time...
  38. S

    Is my battery dead?

Well, my SR plus Model 3 is giving us errors. We are having it towed to the service station as it won't drive. BMS_A151 and BMS_A035. Does this mean the battery has died? We are out of warranty, unfortunately. Also, if we DO have to get the battery replaced, can we upgrade to a longer-range...

Thanks. It would be cool to have though.

    DIscord texting

Is there a way to have Tesla read messages that come in from discord and reply, like you can when texting? I would like to switch to discord instead of text, except that I like the option to have the car read me the texts and the ability to use voice to reply.

    Charging port sometimes won't unlock Model S 75 2016

This does sound like my issue. Thank you. What if I just don't worry about it? Will I end up getting stuck at some point? Right now, it seems like it ends up working, just a slight inconvenience sometimes.
  42. S

    Charging port sometimes won't unlock Model S 75 2016

Recently when we try to plug in my Model S, sometimes it won't allow the charging cord to go in. It is like it is locked before it is plugged in somehow. I think I can hear it "trying" to unlock maybe? We mess with it (like open and close the port door, etc) and then it will allow it to plug in...

    2015 Model S 70 Battery Replacement Options

I currently own a 2015 Model S 70. It has 142,000 miles on it, and charges up to 208 miles. Which is totally fine for me. My hope is that this care last me for a VERY long time. My question is this: When it does come time to replace the battery, what are my options? Could I get a better longer...

    Model S Battery

Thanks for all the help guys. Even though we only have 213 miles range, the car is awesome. We took a trip from Washoougal WA down to Bend, OR, and then to Crator Lake, to Myrtle Beach, and then back up to Washougal. I was only nervous a couple times (mostly due to me lack of experience in 100...

    Model S Battery

I know the EPA range was 240 new, and I know the actual range is shorter than that. But what would the range actually read fully charged in miles when this car was bought new? Could I charge it up and see 240 miles in the readout in realistic mode?
  47. S

    Model S Battery

Right, but I feel like when we got our model 3, fully charged it wasn't all the way up to the EPA range. I am curious if that is where these start, where (in "realistic" mode, they charge up to 240?
  48. S

    Model S Battery

At full charge, on "realistic" mode, I show 213 miles. Does anyone know what it would have been brand new? Would it be 240 miles?
  49. S

    Model S Battery

I'll have to check and get back on this. I think about 215. Do you think brand new on "realistic" mode, new it would show 240 miles? Or is that in "ideal" mode? I feel like my standard range model 3 never showed the full range it said it would have. Anyway, I'll charge it to 100% soon and report...
