Model 3 19” Sport rims on Model Y?

    Ram 1500 Charger - 2025

It's a true EV with a gas generator engine. It's not a conventional hybrid - the engine has no mechanical connection to the wheels. The engine's only function is to generate electricity.

    Ram 1500 Charger - 2025

Have you tried driving through rural areas in an EV with a trailer? How are you going to charge that - even with Tesla opening superchargers it might take 20 minutes to unhook the trailer- 50 minutes to charge close to 100% (needed with range hit while towing), another 20 mintues to hook the...

    Ram 1500 Charger - 2025

I just put a $100 deposit down on this, its a great concept! Its a full EV truck with yes only ~150 miles of pure EV range. But for 98% of my driving thats more than I need. But on a huge trip or especially towing where range is halved or less it has about 700 miles of combined gas/EV range...

Modern Spare for Model 3 on Model Y?

I'd think you could just replace the tire - put the MY sized tire on the modern spare 3 sized setup? I might consider a used tire for a spare, although that could be a more rare size.

Will the 6/3 Romex be sufficient enough for the continuous draw of 48 amps for the home charger?

Technically many will post you shouldn't as it's not rated for quite enough amps, they aren't wrong. However I'd feel totally safe running that in my own home, there's enough safety margins your never going to have an issue if all parts, connections, install, quality of work, etc are done well...

    range anxiety

Tesla is correct you shouldn't tow that way. I never suggested the Tesla be towed with two wheels on and two wheels off the ground. You posted an irrelevant picture that has nothing to do with my suggestion.

How often do you charge to 100%

I leave the vehicle at 50% daily. Days I have more driving I do scheduled departure so it'll be done charging when I depart. Then when I'm done driving for the day at or below 50% when I return home. So some days that's 70% others 90%, etc. On long road trips I charge to 100% for all stops...

    Model Y....should I wait for 2024?

Tesla will change the model 3 and Y in the US to qualify for the full tax credit IMO. Will that chance happen in January 2024, a month later, or many months later in 2024+? I'm not sure when. I don't see any future where Tesla leaves free money on the table by not having them qualify. They...

    range anxiety

Your picture is totally wrong. You need to tow hilbilly style with a strap from truck to Tesla front towhook and all 4 tesla wheels on the ground, Tesla in drive. Driver is in the tesla to break if there is an emergency - or you spot tasty roadkill.

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

Good link, hadn't seen that is a proposed rule. Yes buyers below 2023 tax liability should hold out until 2024.

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

I'd imagine IRS easily can verify taxpayer had enough tax liability as it's all part of the main form 1040. Could be flagged regardless of additional forms.

If you run out have a buddy with a truck tow you while full regen is on. He'll probably get 6mpg but you'll get a very fast charge (like 50+kwh)

I don't believe your comment is right, you must have enough tax liability to utilize the full tax credit.

Anyone else very skeptical that the M3 and MY will lose as much of this tax credit as is being reported? I could see it being removed Jan 1st, then a few weeks later there is a change in battery composition or something and suddenly full credit is again available. Or maybe the highland/juniper...

If you don't qualify for full 7500 credit in 2023 I don't think you'll gain anything getting POS credit January 2024 (assuming income/taxes) stay the same. Maybe there is a way you can get that 7500 off at purchase, although maybe not as dealer likely will have to check your income/etc. Even if...

Model Y - True Flat Floor Solution for Camp Mode?

Seems like the angle would bother me. I can sleep at a bit of an incline but it's more that its not flat than not level with a charge in the angle at base of folded 2nd row. Also not sure those 76" exact fit Y beds will be long enough for 6'3" me. I might need some sort of support in the gap...

Model Y standard range battery LFP?

I suspect the M3 RWD and likely this new MY RWD are software limited to reduce some acceleration. Just doesn't make sense that the vehicles have power at some speeds and so little at other speeds. Maybe eventually Tesla will offer an acceleration boost type option or a 3rd party will have...

2023 AWD or LR Model Y

You already got it? If not you may want to be careful as I believe delivery has to be completed by 9/30 for FSD transfer so you only have a week to complete it.

    ORDERING/FINANCING Through Schoolsfirst

Either call Tesla or ask in service center. I'd think the check is fine but perhaps could add delay for payment to clear. You can get a quote for tesla insurance once you have an order, mine was much cheaper through my homeowners or other insurers but theres some people here happy with it.
  24. MacO512

MY - AWD no longer on order page

The more I've read about the base Y AWD the less I like it. Worse energy density, worse range, no real efficiency improvement, much worse charging curve, worse resale value. If I was going to hold it for over 100k miles I'd be very concerned about future repair costs. A much more rare model...
  25. MacO512

MY - AWD no longer on order page

They assign a VIN that matches your configuration. If you want to change your configuration I'd ask a salesperson in the store or call as I wouldn't want it to auto assign a different configuration VIN when you hold expires.

    ORDERING/FINANCING Through Schoolsfirst

Yeah it shows in the app payment section or payment due or some area when Tesla gets the wire.
  27. MacO512

2023 AWD or LR Model Y

Congrats! Yes LR is worth much more than the small $1570 you paid. The charging curve really sucks on the 4680 pack. As you say resale is also better. Finally I'd also be worried about repairs if you decide to hold the vehicle a long time. The more prevalent model will ultimately have much...

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

If your close to a service center I'd consider doing the $6k upgrade in person there to ensure the sales people agree it should work to then transfer FSD. I wouldn't do that until you get a delivery scheduled before 9/30 though.
  29. MacO512

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

Seems like that might work. The FSD promotion I believe currently only says its good through 9/30 so I'd want to make sure you can complete everything including delivery before then.... or else consider waiting until October before upgrading to FSD in order to check if they will still allow...

    ORDERING/FINANCING Through Schoolsfirst

Sounds like thats a credit union? When financing you either apply to Tesla through the app or select 3rd party financing in the app. Either step is done after you have placed an order or purchased a car from Tesla inventory (the better way to buy the Model Y right now so you get discounts)...

    Trickle charge over winter

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about brake rust, just be prepared on the first drive brakes might have rust and not stop well. First drive do with no traffic - after the vehicle is up to speed do a bunch of stops progressing from very light brakes to eventually a number of very quick 70-5...

    NEMA 6-50 or 14-50

Good point. Yeah I put 6 gauge on my WC and the run is about 7 feet to the main panel on the other side of the garage wall so pretty irrelevant to me. On a long run and if the wiring is close to the breaker limit perhaps this could become a concern. I'd still think the car sleeping would use...

    Powder Coated Gemini Wheels

This looks great. I'd like to do now but seems like it would make more sense when I go to put on new tires.
  34. MacO512

    Powder Coated Gemini Wheels

I've seen it tested around 1%. Yes its something but probably less than using old tires (worn tires are more efficient than new) There's a big performance improvement going to smaller wheel - 19 is more efficient than 20 which is more efficient than 21. Just look at Tesla's EPA range...

I guess the other future possibilities with these large discounts is we will have a model Y price drop on the way. I could see Tesla doing that if their inventory builds up. But then they would likely reduce discounts substantially so the net price you pay likely would be very similar to getting...

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

The inventory cars are either at a Tesla service center or will be there soon. Tesla has to pay money to store the cars and pay employees to move them around and wash them and charge them, etc. They'd rather have the car sold and off the lot. So they give a discount to incentivize someone to buy...

    Service Alert: VCFRONT_a557_TLVBMS

Tesla isn't very "drop into" helpful, they just say use the app. I love not dealing with a dealership for price negotiations, order, or delivery. But Tesla service after that point I'd probably rank as inferior to every dealership except the worst.

    Service Alert: VCFRONT_a557_TLVBMS

I have zero concerns about driving, I'd need to see an error in the regular user Tesla screen to worry about that. I will wait for the next update to see if the issue is still there. Eventually if the issue persists for many months I'll probably schedule a service appointment.

We have a different opinion of what constitutes an "expensive charging device outdoors" - I'd call a $350 wall connector very inexpensive. If the vehicle is often stored outdoors why would I have a charger indoors, needing a cord to run through a door or window? $300 is very inexpensive for an...

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

I own FSD. My opinion is FSD drives like an erratic teenager first time driver. Sometimes it's so slow it annoys you. Other times it leaves so little distance it scares you. It's jerky and not smooth. It automatically does lane changes on its own which I'd rather leave off and initiate myself...

Thanks for the detailed post I'll have to read about this more. NEMA 6-50 or 14-50

Good news is you have the wiring to switch and put the WC in place of your 6-50 receptacle if you ever so desire. Very easy to now do that modification. If you prefer the WC in a different location can use that 6-50 as a junction box with a blank plate and move the WC wherever you like. If the...

    NEMA 6-50 or 14-50

I really like everything with this post except this one sentence. Why would you choose lower amps? It uses more electricity (vehicle sleeps less), would leave the pack at higher SOC longer with scheduled charging (higher degradation), and even at full 48amp is very low charge rate relative to...

    NEMA 6-50 or 14-50

Yeah I have needed the MC MUCH less than I expected prior to owning an EV. But still it's two different discussions, you either carry a MC in the car or don't. You also have the MC/WC/3rd party charger installed at your house. Having a mobile connector installed that you unplug repeatedly from...

Could make that ridiculous claim about every car on the planet. Disagree, wall connector is safer, weather sealed, more reliable, less prone to have connection fail, longer cord, 50% higher power (48amp vs 32) easier to organize, and allows multi unit coordinating. Mine was $350 last Christmas...

New MYP Owner: Learning Curve Tips Thread

Where did you hear minutes at 5% causes battery wear? I've heard that's a myth. Remember even 0% on the vehicle has a buffer with more power available plus a buffer in the pack that's unusable.
