Chicago area superchargers failing in cold

From what I read so far it seems like lack of awareness/preparedness for heavy range loss proceed to caused a knock on effect: People wasn't prepared for heavy range losses Arrive at charger with low charge Somehow unable to charge and get stuck at the stall (mystery here, idk why yet) (could be...

    Cybertruck towing discussion

Currently powerboost F150 suffer from low 5th wheel/gooseneck capacity on the 4x4. Hope Ford address it in the coming years, while putting a larger battery pack in there. (Current model year F150 5.0 and 3.5Ecoboost are maxed out at around 13k for both conventional tow and 5th/Goose...

    Cybertruck towing discussion

First time hearing VIA. Hyliion sounds like they lost steam or something I haven't followed them in a while. I'm really rooting for CNG/LNG semis during the transition to full EV, like Cummins' natural gas conversion (or reused design) of current diesel engines. Those would be great engines...

Is there any series hybrid out there? The only good hybrid I know are tundra iforce max and f150 powerboost, and they are both parallel hybrid, with batteries not much bigger than a golf cart.

    Cybertruck towing discussion

Imo for heavier than half ton truck application, a bidirectional HV connection should be available on the back of the heavy duty vehicle, and allow energy flow while the vehicle is in motion. This should be done as soon as possible by the vehicle manufacturer. This would open up for all kinds of...

    Cybertruck towing discussion

I am doing some preliminary research on starting a freight service business that has the eventual electrification of the fleet in mind. If all goes well I will procure 3/4 ton trucks and I promise you they are for doing work😂.

    Cybertruck towing discussion

It appears I cannot edit my first post in this thread? Anyways I would like to clarify this thread is slightly different from the similarly named Towing with Cybertruck. Our intention here is to "make it work" with current or near future technologies.

    Cybertruck towing discussion

Pickup is sensitive with payload, but not as bad with towing capacity. F-150 Lightning (currently) has 10,000 lbs of conventional towing capacity. If a high power bidirectional port exists in the bed of F-150L, this would already be game changing. To make this "extreme" example, we sacrifice...

    Cybertruck towing discussion

Evident from the real world towing experience of Model X/F150L/R1T owners, the range penalty from towing with (light-duty) EV is near or exceed 50%. I am pondering the possibilities of reducing this penalty in preparation of the launch of CB. Besides charging faster, more often, and increase...

Model Y lift gate sticky issue

No. I think it was just sticky rubber. I adjusted the four rubber bumpers very slightly today to see if that will help. Things are smooth so far and I’ll see after I leave it sit for 24 hours if it will get stuck again.

Model Y lift gate sticky issue

If I didn’t get rear ended a year ago and had it repaired by third party, I wouldn’t be hesitant right now to contact support for a warranty repair… About a year ago my Y was rear ended. No significant damage but had to have it repaired by a third party body shop, certified location. They...

Model X 6 seat "captain chair" range of movement?

Greetings, Contemplating to upgrade from my Y to an X. There isn't a show room close enough for me to check out a 6 seater in person. My question is that when having someone in the second row and nothing in the third (third row fold or upright), how far can the second row move back and/or...

    Tire pressure adjustable?

Worked on these tires/wheels while I was in the marines. Pain in the ass. Doubt civilian mechanics will be willing to deal with them when if Tesla makes it.

    Tire pressure adjustable?

Very old tech. But “could be convenient” for hardcore off-roader. Or you are going into a war zone with cybertruck.

Did V11.3.6 silently add support for No Turn On Red?

Day 2: didn’t run into any NTOR but FSD once again disappointed me on free flow right turn by slamming on brake the last second

Did V11.3.6 silently add support for No Turn On Red?

11.3.6 here. FSD casually ignored a NTOR today and later did a full stop on free flow right turn. 🗿 Not a complain, just a report. Will update if I run into another one.

    FSD Beta v11.x

Your UI version is 11.1. You are on release build branch not FSD branch. Tesla named their UI version similar to FSD which is causing a lot of confusion. For example I'm on software version 2022.44.30.10 (FSD 10.69.25.2) with UI 11 And sorry to inform you that, since your are on a higher branch...

    Battery always preconditioning in cold

Ohhhh look at you getting all worked up for some minor details on an Internet forum. Craving for recognition for your little “engineering expertise”? Did I say ANYTHING about discharge side? Of course I’m not going to be like a fool who floors the pedal when it’s negative degrees out.

    Battery always preconditioning in cold

Sorry that I didn’t read every single reply but here’s my opinion: How about you don’t waste energy heating your pack. For shorter trips the cost is way more than the minuscule benefit of regen. For long trip your battery will heat up eventually. You can turn on the “use physical brake in place...

    Renualt trolls Elon Musk LOL

Don’t think it would be too bad. However this is only an informed guess from me. The range loss in passenger cars in cold weather is mainly from heating the cabin. For the semi I think that will be a much smaller percentage of the battery. But if the road condition is poor, such as snow or ice...

EVgo reportedly adding Tesla plugs to their DC fast chargers

I agree with you. There are also marked 50kw CCS station I’ve been to only able to pump out 100A. That’s like 30kw after heater’s consumption. I only have CCS>Tesla adapter so I can’t verify it for you.
  46. K

EVgo reportedly adding Tesla plugs to their DC fast chargers

There's your answer, no (need). On permanently attached adapter version the chademo > Tesla adapter is positioned just like a plug holder, simply unplug the chademo side to charge your leaf. On native Tesla version you have 3 handles.
  47. K

EVgo reportedly adding Tesla plugs to their DC fast chargers

Both are EVgo. Some older installation simply have a permanently attached chademo adapter. Newer ones have Tesla plug directly from the dispenser.

Set to 90%, car charged to 100%

Could be BMS drift but 90/100 sounds too far off. I got mine set to 80 last night and woke up to 84% I don’t experience that in daily driving. Normally only the day after supercharging then overnight on an AC charger.
