    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

Same tires, same pressures 39psi cold - have close to 50k miles on my set of Wildpeaks on Method MR502's and have been running those pressures the entire time. Almost at the tread wear bars and I will be replacing with the exact same tires. Grip in the rain and snow makes me feel almost invincible.

Cyber(nota)truck even more Not a truck than I first thought

Gonna throw my opinion into the ring. I've been holding out for a new truck and currently have a 2005 Tacoma with over 270k miles on it since I bought it new. Since its a Toyota, I can probably keep it running indefinitely but the poor gas mileage and mediocre towing ability leave a lot to be...

How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?

I have a CT reservation, but I put it in two years after the announcement so I'm WAYYY down the list, which is fine since I tend to avoid buying new models of anything until after a couple of years in production when all the kinks have been worked out. I'm an engineer so I appreciate many of the...

    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

The issue is with the fitment - the reports I have gotten from a couple others on this site is that there is physical interference between the valve stem and the wheel. My guess is Tesla beefed up the valve stem in their design revision, but I have not seen the issue first hand and I cannot...

    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

There have been rumors about fitment issues with the Rev. B version of the Tesla TPMS (part number 1490750-01-B) and the Method MR502's. I have the Rev. A version of the TPMS and they fit the MR502's just fine. I have been PM'ed by several folks about this fitment issue, so I am just putting...

    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

I see a lot of people here on the fence with camber arms when installing the lift kit - my advice is to get them if you can afford the extra expense. They make adjusting alignment SIGNIFICANTLY easier. Also, I run the toe arms - again not necessary but allow you to get the rear toe on the gnats...

    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

What Pilo said. This tire size is well proven to work with the MY and others here have used this size as well. I have had mine on for almost a year now with no ill effects.

Why do so many Tesla owners back in to park?

Coming from having driven big pickup trucks my entire life, back in parking has become second nature for me. Even in parking structures that have "head in parking only" signs - I back in (secretly relishing the day I get to argue the finer points of this parking method with parking enforcement)...

    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

I haven’t done any testing for braking but those Falkens are invincible in the rain and the tread wear is incredible - I expect 40k+ miles out of them.

    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

I have those tires, the MPP lift, and a Thule roof basket and my range loss is somewhere between 5-10%. Just the tires alone is probably less than 5% range loss.

Third party wipers for model y

PIAA SiTech FTW. Nothing terribly wrong with the OEM Tesla wipers, but they don't perform as smoothly in light rain - at least in my experience.

Lets Talk Windshield Washer Fluid, eh?

I live in the peoples republic of California which prohibits VOC's in washer fluid outside of winter snow areas, so I make my own. I use a 1:3 dilution ratio of methanol to distilled water and then add a couple ounces of 2010 Products windshield cleaner concentrate (basically concentrated...

    18" wheel on model Y

You dont "need" the hub centric rings since the conical lug nut seats should in theory center everything. However, since the wheel center bore is larger than stock, it is still good practice to use the hub centric rings to make sure everything runs true.

Out here in Los Angeles / Orange County area my CCS adapter basically paid for itself in a couple months. Roof racks and boot liners…

Get the OEM bars from Tesla. Although pricey, they are the best available. The integrated t-nut slot will work with most roof rack accessories (I currently have a Thule Canyon XT basket mounted to my Tesla bars).

Model Y windshield washer no longer works

If this ever happens to me you can bet I’ll be adding a constant tension hose clamp to the hose. Cheap insurance that it will never happen again. Tesla should have done this from the factory.

One thing you LOVE and DISLIKE about your Model Y

I switched to 18" wheels with 255/55R18 tires. MPP comfort coilovers with MPP camber and toe arms. My car is a late 2021 (November) build as a point of reference since Tesla has made several factory revisions to the MY springs since then. I can't comment on the newer OEM springs, but the ones on...

One thing you LOVE and DISLIKE about your Model Y

Dislike: Stock suspension and poor ride quality Like: The stock suspension led me down the rabbit hole to upgrade to some awesome coilovers, toe/camber arms, and wheel/tire combo that greatly enhanced the driving experience

    Paint Protection - Best Value?

Mudflaps on front to protect the rear quarters and also, by far the best value - keeping a good following distance from other cars/trucks in front of you. I call this behavioral paint protection lol. DIY ceramic coating might help against fine debris, but it wont stop the big stuff like PPF.

Where do you sell your wheels? (If you ever have or would)

Sold some 20" inductions complete with tires and TPMS on here no problem. It was the best option for me as I detest paying eBay extortion fees and Craigslist is filled with too many bottom feeders, tire kickers, scammers, and weirdos in general. Don't even get me started with Facebook...

Tesla Bros Skid Plates - Got Em

I think the plastic ones that Tesla now uses are still inadequate. They are just plain ABS “sewer pipe” plastic and are pretty prone to cracking. Tesla would have been wise to use a glass fiber reinforced plastic like PA6 nylon.

    No PPF....Are you Happy?

MSM with 14,000 miles and no PPF - paint is in excellent shape. Some very small chips on front bumper but not noticeable at all from about 18". I run mudflaps which have saved the rear rocker panel area from chipping. I also drive extensively on dirt/gravel roads so all things considered I am...

    A tire PSI thread

Agreed to meet the max load rating you need to run at manufacturer recommended pressure. The tires I run support a max of 2271lbs per tire x4 so over 9000lbs total load which is way overkill. So I can comfortably run a lower pressure and not even come close to hitting the load limit. The other...

    A tire PSI thread

I go the opposite direction - 39 psi cold all the way around. Here in SoCal, when the tires warm up I am sitting right at 41-42 psi. I've experimented with higher and lower pressures and this is the happy spot for me in terms of ride comfort and handling. If you have XL load rated tires (with...

Do you use a windshield sunshade?

Same experience for me. I started out with a Basenor sunshade and at first it worked fine, but the material started fraying - plus I would often hit the passenger (usually my wife) in the face trying to coil the damn thing back up. The Covercraft just looks and feels better - even if it doesn't...

Tesla Bros Skid Plates - Got Em

Not sure about other's experiences but the holes on the ones I got from RPM lined up just fine with no adjustments required. I will say that at full retail they are overpriced but I got mine also at 25% off. If after a lot of driving, I end up trashing my front one, I will probably draw a new...

Tesla Bros Skid Plates - Got Em

MPP only makes the front skidplate and objectively they are not better quality than the imported ones - I have handled both. MPP's is a flat plate that requires standoff hardware and not contoured to fit the OEM mounting locations like RPM/Tesbros ones. Don't get me wrong I love MPP parts and...

Model Y Mud Flaps (Rear Bolt Issue)

I also accessed mine through the wheel well. The fender liner is a soft felt-like material that is easy to bend out of the way and gets you pretty good access to the loose nut, even with the rear wheel still on the vehicle.

    Maintenance costs

Agreed. Tesla maintenance is not costly, especially if you have some basic mechanical chops. Brake system, suspension, and wheels/tires not much different than any other modern car. My coworkers (several of them also Tesla owners) all give me this incredulous look when I say I do all my own...

Driving in HOV lane without sticker

Like others said - put them on adhesive magnetic sheet. Easy to remove for car washes and car events, if that's your thing. 3rd Party Tire Rotation Tips?

Make sure they torque lug nuts by hand to 129 ft/lbs - no impact wrench. I've seen too many screw-ups by ham fisted tire shop guys with impact wrenches. Simple front to back rotation is fine unless there is some weird irregular wear patterns on the tire tread. Also, insist that they use jack...

Any mud flaps effectiveness or efficiency tests?

Rally armor mudflaps and aluminum skid plates on my MYLR. I don't care what the efficiency hit is - with all the debris laying around on ill-maintained California roads they are well worth it.
