20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

The electrician installed the subpanel (pictured earlier in this thread) a few weeks ago (along with the 'troublesome' NEMA 5-20 outlet).

Will do, thank you for your helpful advice.

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

I am not (and have never been) an electrician. Not sure why I'm continuing to getting a ration of s*** here. Please see video above. I used the term that the video used. Bitch that guy out. As I understand it backstab are 'press into' and back wire are tightened down from the back. My new...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

FYI - they were 'back wired' not 'back stabbed' Not that I would in any way recommend (or think about doing) this, but there are non GFCI 5-20 outlets that exist, and while not code would sort the temporary issue out (until getting the 6-50 outlets installed). ...so I consider my situation...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

I popped it open, and all wired connections appear to be solid into both (5-15 and 5-20) outlets. So if I remove wire pigtailed from the 5-15 outlet (disabling it as a test) it will effectively leave me with a 'single' neutral. Or might I simply power off the breaker to the 5-15 and achieve (a...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

The only solution I've seen so far is a request for me to spend the time/money to 'check the connections' and/or replace a newly installed GFCI 5-20 outlet. Speaking to the electrician who recently installed that GFCI outlet I was told that they 'don't work with car charging devices', and that...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

Update: I've tested 14A with and without the 20-15 converter and it trips I've tested 13A with and without the 20-15 converter, and it 'sometimes' trips. Each time it trips the M3LR sets the charging to 48A (max). This is the piece of info that concerns me. I fear that there might be...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

More clarifying data My initial (disappointing/confusing) experience was that setting the 5-20 plug directly into the 5-20 outlet was tripping the GFCI at 16A. In frustration I attached the 'Magic Plastic' as a hail mary, but that was in concert with setting the Tesla to only pull at 13A, then...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

Update: I increased the charging rate to 14A and it did not trip the GFCI and it charged at 14A. ...next stop 15A? ...or I can try removing the 'magic plastic' and see if the Tesla overdraws and trips the GFCI at (confirmed worked with the 'magic plastic') 14A?
  12. CheapBastid

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

Good thing I'm running it on the 5-20 outlet. The 'weird magic' seems to be my 'downgrading' the OEM Tesla 5-20 adapter that plugs directly into the Mobile Connector via that little 'useless' adapter that converts the plug to 5-15 and putting that into the 5-20 outlet. Somehow this 'usless' 5-20...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

Yep. As I said, (as I recall) it was standard with my mobile connector (with the 5-20 plug) that was in the trunk of my 2022 M3LR. After re-attaching it last night I had no interruption. Well, I did last night. =) My previous setup was trying to reach an outdoor GFCI 5-15 outlet that was too...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

Yes to all. Standard Tesla brand Mobile Connector that came with my 2022 M3LR Even in a location that I've repeatedly set the max to 16? That seems dangerous. If the electrician didn't just put it in last week I'd agree with you. I suppose it might be bad out of the box. I've re-attached the...

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

Sorry I was unclear. I had a NEMA 5-15 outlet and had a 'converter' that slapped on the end of the NEMA 5-20 plug that comes with the Tesla Mobile Charger that 'downconverted' it to the max 12 amp draw from my old plug. That sweet 16 amps I'd not seen before as the max the 5-15 would allow was 12.

20 Amp GFCI trips with mobile connector.

Have had the Tesla Mobile Connector plugged into a converter to then plug into a standard GFCI outlet that has a cover outside that was feeding a fountain. We're in the process of re-doing our carport and will eventually get a 6-50 plug on a 50amp breaker installed, but in the interim they have...

Why didn't my Tesla charge last night on my scheduled departure settings?

I'm still a bit confused. Here's my situation: I'm going on a road trip and plan on leaving at 8:30am. I do NOT want the car to be sitting at 100% all night so how to I indicate to the car I would like it to finish charging (based on my charging rate at home) at 8:30am? I did a trial run last...

Frunk 'takeout tray' with cup holders?

I ended up getting that Insulated Food Delivery Bag. It's been a dream. I smush it down when I get pizzas. Otherwise it either holds takeout for the drive, or (if there is a lot) it comes in with me.

Premium Connectivity Vs. Connectivity to WiFi/HotSpot on phone

Where is there confirmation/source of this statement? I've did initial testing of Tesla vs Google Maps and my results seemed to show routing not as as 'flexible'. Tesla tended to do a 'straight shot' and not route around L.A. traffic. I assumed this is due to my lack of Premium Connectivity.

Why choose Model 3 over Model Y if you can have more trunk space?

Slow is a relative term, the poster indicated it's slow compared to the M3 and the S (both of which he drives). While the MY is faster than many other cars, from that poster's day-to-day exeprience it seems like a fair point and is not objectively 'wrong'. From his perspective why spend more...

Can Limited Regenerative Braking Be A Sign Of Anything Bad?

We're in full agreement. =) Again: My take is that recent software updates have made my M3 more 'protective' of the battery than ever before, as I have never encountered reduced regen (and it's been colder at my house). I didn't realized how much I'd miss one-pedal-driving.

  25. CheapBastid

Can Limited Regenerative Braking Be A Sign Of Anything Bad?

While you are correct (conceptually) my datapoint is more specific: It was 70ᵒF and sunny today, the cabin was warm enough that the AC kicked on when I got in at lunchtime to run to the store. The regenerative braking was reduced in a way it never has before the software updates. That's my guess.
  26. CheapBastid

Can Limited Regenerative Braking Be A Sign Of Anything Bad?

With recent software updates all of a sudden my Feb 2022 M3LR has started showing that 'reduced regenerative braking' symbol. I keep the car charged at 77% (and park it outside in L.A.), so it's a bit of a concern.

Model 3 recommendations for accessories and protection?

As stated, folks have items they like/need and that will orient their answers. For me the things I enjoy most are the stylus (I really don't like finger smudges) and my cup holder insert that has a tiny spot between the cups that holds my stylus. Also the puddle lights that show a tesla + logo...

The windows were open and the trunk, I was in a building..

For a while on my 2022 M3LR I noticed the windows 'venting' in their own when I returned to my car (without having my overheat set to 'vent). No aftermarket buttons. It seemed to happen when I would remotely pop my frunk. I haven't seen that happen in a while though.

Frunk 'takeout tray' with cup holders?

Digging around in Amazon maybe I can use an Insulated Food Delivery Bag or a Cleaning Caddy.
  32. CheapBastid

Frunk 'takeout tray' with cup holders?

I find myself using the Frunk every time I pick up take-out food and it occurred to me it would tremendously helpful if there was a kind of 'takeout tray' that had four cup-holders that fit exactly in the 2022 M3LR frunk. This would prevent sliding around and make it easier to take it all into...

Best way to clean off black seats and the faux leather?

Zombifying this thread as I wanted to get a solid sense of the 'best' choice for cleaning and maintaining the seats. I've used 303 Protectant for a while on to clean/restore the plastic and rubber surfaces on my electronic drumkit and it's had amazing results, so I'm leaning in that direction...

Premium Connectivity Vs. Connectivity to WiFi/HotSpot on phone

That one I can answer: Without subscription service you will not get live traffic. I can use the browser when I connect my 2022 M3LR to my phone's hotspot, and with that functionality I can leverage the TeslAA app on my Pixel 3 and use Android Auto's live traffic (which I prefer anyway).

Frunk Struts - 'just' strong enough for auto open?

I was intrigued by the cheap 'Auto Open' suggestion in this video. I ended up getting these that match (13.7" extended & 8.52" compressed) the ones in the video, and are reported in Amazon as rated at 454N. They're super convenient,, but feel a bit overpowered as the frunk lid kind of...

    Quality difference between a 2018 and 2021 Model 3

Data Point: 2022 M3LR - No squeaks or rattles. Before buying I was really worried about it and was prepared to try to do some home-made fixing. Have found not a single issue with noises while driving. A dream for a quiet evening drive with the moon shining through the glass roof.

Question regarding the wireless car transmitter

Yep - I had one back in the day with my beater that had no Bluetooth. This pictured device gets around that limitation by acting as a bluetooth interface that then 'narrowcasts' to an unused FM Band. What the OP seems to be looking for is an AM Radio that connects via Bluetooth, as the Tesla has...

    M3 and TeslAA

Doing further testing I found that the browser works while in Drive (I can load fast.com) but the AndroidWheels website doesn't work/load.
