    Zero-G wheels have different offsets

FYI. Hope everyone knows that the zero g wheels are the exact same weight as the Ubers. So aside from the different look, basically no advantage from a performance point of view to buy these. Better off saving the money to get a set of lightweight forged wheels (like apex v5rs in 20x9)

model 3 on track - the need for a good seat (take the poll)

Great feedback. Honestly this doesn’t sound like a solution for everyday use, I think owners would eventually get fed up with the difficult ingress/egress and poor ergonomics. I agree that retaining bolster and heating access would of really been value add with this kit.

Seat Back Strength - Racing Harness Ready?

I understand the concern about the seat.. honestly I've never seen this issue in the 20 years I've been at the track with various drivers at the track running the schroth products. What I have seen is neck injuries, whiplash and injuries from individuals limbs and even helmets making contact...

Seat Back Strength - Racing Harness Ready?

FWIW I have the Schroth Quick Fit Pro and Schroth Hans device and I've used both at several track events. Everything worked perfectly. The hardware bolts in easily to the side of the seat and the rear seatbelt anchor. The harness easily slips under the seat headrest and holds you into place...

strange oscillating thumping sound at speeds of 70mph or so

update, with both Uber 20s and 19s the issue is the same. I just re-aligned the car and it's still present. removed the retaining bolt on the rear rotors and no change. I'm going to try and see if it's the rear hatch since I know there's a know problem with the stops for the hatch which need...

MPP Super Sport vs Ohlins R&T review

20 clicks is essentially fully open (full soft). I agree with the video that the car didn’t feel settled enough with ohlins damping but I think they should of went with at least 5-10 clicks open to allow the damping to control the springs better and provide better review.

strange oscillating thumping sound at speeds of 70mph or so

I have the MPP front bbk which doesn’t use a retaining bolt. For the rear I also use the MPP rear bbk I did use the stock retaining bolt since the MPP rotor has a hole available. I thought it would be better to keep the rotor secure but perhaps it’s contributing to uneven balance?

strange oscillating thumping sound at speeds of 70mph or so

Hi Guys, I'm running 19x9.5 with 265/35/19 tires on Model 3P and I noticed at speeds of 70mph+ I get a strange oscillating thumping sound emanating from the car with a little vibration under my seat. It seems to happen on and off when I'm driving. I could drive a couple miles and then it slowly...

What toe are you all running?

That's definitely a good theory as there's so much intervention with DSC, regen and braking going on... last thing you want is a twitchy rear end.
  16. S

What toe are you all running?

I'm running -0.1 deg total toe front and +0.4 deg total toe on rear but moving forward I will change to 0.1 total front and 0.1 to 0.2 total rear. Not sure why Tesla runs so much toe in on the rear as it makes it hard for the car to rotate.

model 3 on track - the need for a good seat (take the poll)

Bump for this thread. The MPP kit has been released, wondering if anyone (aside from MasterC17 ;)) has installed one and what bucket seat type. Please feel free to share your impressions for everyone. I've heard from MPP that they are very close to finishing the brackets for the reclining...

So is anybody like, using Plaid's track mode on a track?

We had two cars at a local event that ran at a pretty high speed track (you could hit speeds of 150+). It definitely helped them prolong their sessions (with the cooling). They had respectable lap times.. the car is a porker but it's fast. They of course had changed the weak brakes so that they...

Model 3 Performance Changed 20" OEM Wheels to 19" OEM Wheels - The Economics and the Pros & Cons

Wow you got 40k miles out a set of PS4S and worried about tire cost? Further, you're driving an M3P and worried about losing range? The 20s will improve steering sharpness over the 19s due to the shorter sidewall, so not something you want to give up. Unless you're going to a wider 19" wheel...

    Track Mode Set Up

The only adjustment you can make on a stock car is toe and the recommended toe settings are perfectly fine. Unless you like running a bunch of toe out and replacing your tires every couple thousand miles.

    Track Mode Set Up

That's very informative thanks and sorry that I read too fast and mistakenly thought you meant 11kWh instead of KW - I usually associate power draw in kWh (for a timeframe). So about 2-3kWh (from your readings above) assuming running 15min of track mode with the car parked which is about 2-4%...
  23. S

    Track Mode Set Up

I didn't say anything about the Plaid - I'm talking about what's in the model 3 (track mode), the Plaid uses as you quoted uses the independent motors to control torque bias between the left and right rear wheels - which is ideal instead of using just the brakes. Some good background on torque...
  24. S

    Track Mode Set Up

correct, you can call it essentially brake torque vectoring since there's no diff on each axle. This gives the ability for each wheel to get varying amounts of power, so the inside wheel gets braking applied and the outside wheel spins faster so the car can power out of a turn properly. Google...
  25. S

    Track Mode Set Up

oops my bad.. yes you're right I read too fast. but as you said.. the power draw is negligible. thanks,
  26. S

    Track Mode Set Up

Totally agree with this. The model 3 stability control is very aggressive and will cut power at any time it thinks it the car will break loose. Track mode also gives the car torque vectoring capabilities that definitely help with getting the car to rotate. It adjusts torque split across the...

    Track Mode Set Up

11kW statement is simply not true. you're saying the car consumes 13% of charge sitting there for 15min? I've never seen that. If you're on the dragstrip you actually want to heat up the battery (if it's cold) to get the best runs for sure but you don't engage track mode for that. Instead you...

    Lowering the Model 3

Don’t go too low. The Cg of the car is already very low so doing the slammed look won’t improve things that much.

FYI: My opinion is Model 3 > Model S

There's nothing glamorous about any tesla right now. I'll freely admit that as a model 3 owner. (and i've driven the Plaid too). It's like an Iphone .. everyone has one - you're not going to impress anyone trust me. That being said there all great cars and it's more about what they offer to...

    Track Mode Set Up

I found alot of benefit running track mode about 15-20min before each session. Call it pre-cooling or conditioning the battery/drivetrain it definitely helps... otherwise I get alot of orange and red on the screen during the session.
  31. S

    Track Mode Set Up

don't forget track mode cycles the heat pump to precondition the battery. This helps a lot on the track to prevent overheating the battery/motor during sessions.
  32. S

    Track Mode Set Up

I recommend you experiment with the default track mode setting as a baseline and take it from there. But from my experience here's what I run: Street: no track mode Autox: track mode (balance 55 rear 45 front, full regen) HPDE/Track: track mode (balance 55-60 rear, 45-40 front, no regen)

  35. S

    Reducing brake drag?

FWIW - I've run 265 200TW tire on the street with BBK (that has anti-knock back springs which would contribute to even more drag) and get about 350wh/mi. When I run the stock wheels on the street with 235 I'm seeing about 300 wh/m.

Model 3 Performance aftermarket brake pads

Yes of course that heat still goes to rotor and caliper, but less heat transfer because essentially more pad material allows better heat absorption and more efficient transfer over are larger surface (like a heat sink) and keeping temperatures down. By the time the rotor and caliper see it, it...

Model 3 Performance aftermarket brake pads

I think you’re a little lost with my comment about the stock pads. I said the pads are relatively small and thin, so they dissipate heat to the rotor fairly quickly (especially if it’s not designed to work at higher temp) that means the heat has to go somewhere. It has to go to the caliper...
  41. S

Model 3 Performance aftermarket brake pads

I don’t run any regen when I’m on the track or any serious driving. If I do with my BBK I have terrible issues with ABS cycling. Also you get better brake modulation without it. The stock pad area is small and the pad itself is not very thick (10mm) which means it will pass a lot of heat...

Model 3 Performance aftermarket brake pads

Yes the Plaid brakes suck (even on the street) i've driven one and it's incredible how Tesla managed to get away with that setup. The OEM brakes on the model 3 perf are actually not bad for 'occasional' spirited driving on anything without hills :) Only problem arises when: -you are really...

I'm surprised you guys haven't mentioned Nankang AR-1 or CR-S. Very cost effective and great overall for road race. Some of the fastest guys (ICE Car) at my local track run the AR-1. CR-S is very good at time attack, very close to A052. https://philstireservice.com/product/nankang-ar-1/...

Ordered an M3P, any thoughts on planned upgrades

I'm not making a generalization, i'm referring to the model 3's setup. I have MPP's full setup and running their bars too, although they are very good I have them on the softest settings when i run at the track. I'll maybe put the rear swaybar on a stiffer setting for the tight courses or autox...

    M3 Remote Reservoir Shocks
