Minor windshield divots -Tesla Service good?

I believe minor windshield divots and very small cracks are repaired with transparent resins. It should not be a big deal. Has anyone had this done by Tesla? What was cost/ time? Would it make sense save money to have it done 3rd party?

Worst (and Best) superchargers (Mammoth, CA is awful)

That's the point - I don't go to mammoth for skiing. I go to Lee Vining for climbing. Ya, it's more than 6 hours in winter, but OMG the drive is GORGEOUS. Not just around mono lake, but the Carson valley region is quite beautiful. -TPC

What new Supercharger site do you want the most? Supercharger voting 1Q2024

Thanks for reminding us about our brethren across the world. Solidarity in fighting climate change with EVs, a world problem for all living things on earth! Solidarity in getting Tesla to replace every last gas station with SCs, a problem for Tesla owners and anyone with compatible connectors...

Worst (and Best) superchargers (Mammoth, CA is awful)

OMG - I had no idea. Thanks so much for this. (Though it's a little crazy to have two in one town a couple blocks from each other, one really terrible and the other good.)

OK, first I have to thank you big time because I was not aware there were V3 chargers down the road from the awful ones. THANKS AGAIN! However, ... If I am only doing stuff at LV and north, that adds 60 miles of wasted driving every time I want more juice to tool around the area from my base...

Worst (and Best) superchargers (Mammoth, CA is awful)

In the UK forum there is a forum there is a post "Worst and Best Superchargers". We might just hope that Tesla would see one for the US and occasionally act on it??? Maybe someone could make this a sticky topic? Here's my kudos and complaints in CA----------- To be fair, many SCs are very...

What new Supercharger site do you want the most? Supercharger voting 1Q2024

Summary: ***We really need a set of good, modern 250 kW (no sharing) chargers in Lee Vining, CA***. The chargers in the region are terrible, and this is a very remote place, with no other real options, very long distances between the terrible chargers, yet, this is a very popular recreation...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

No one's gonna say that AK is small. But to be fair, San Francisco to Moab is 967 mi, and that was basically a pandemic right of passage. ( @#)$^@(*#&$^ me because I didn't get my MY until long after.) It's much farther to Yellowstone, I believe. Also, consider drives in just one lil' 'ol...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

Hey, thanks so much for your info on camping in the winter. I sleep in my MYLR AWD all the time. My partner and I sleep in real sleeping bags, and these are comfortable only in the 50's or 40's F. So, our problem is that the lowest temp you can set (60F? I forget) is waaaay above that. I think...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

OK, then isn't the conclusion here that in cold climates, ride share companies, and especially the rental agencies!, should tell the rental drivers to get an LR AWD only? Isn't it really the fault of the rental agencies for selling the drivers on a cheap solution they shouldn't offer in...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

Here's a Canadian driving around at night at -35 to -40 (C I suppose, but down there there's not much difference between C and F) going to not just superchargers, but to public chargers. They all work fine. What's the problem with charging EVs in the winter, eh? Faster than thawing your...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

I have no doubt that all the teslas were bricked, and their owners are currently in the morgue defrosting! The guy here who *claims* to be driving long distances up to ski hills in Maine at the same temperature, with no problems, is probably a tree-hugger, faking it. (The picture was probably...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

So LFPs do worse in winter? I confirmed that with a quick google, and I had *never* heard of that before. Thanks! The article I actually read was poor, and kind of implied that new CATL LFPs charge faster than NMC batteries in ideal temps. Is that true? Previous to this post, I had...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

So WHAT THE HECK ***IS*** the story with the "Great Chicago Winter 24 Tesla Mass Fail"? The only actual information I got from any of those reports was...

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

I have noticed previously that if you are on autopilot (AP) and you accelerate for whatever reason, I think past 85, even momentarily, then the car will "lock you out" of autopilot until you stop and turn the car off. I find this infuriating, and I feel like a parent has set me into the corner...

    Charging USB-B devices

Hi All: Thanks for these suggestions! Sadly, these re no-gos. I have a sony a6500. There are three settings that might have something to do with USB, or power, and I tried all combinations of them. I also contacted customer service and they had no suggestions, stating that the USB...

    Charging USB-B devices

OK, so I went out and bought a USB-C to USB-micro cable, plugged one end into the console and the other end into my sony camera and it worked like a ... like a curse. No Spare Tire - I Have a few Questions

Hello Dhrivnak: My biggest problem is finding a decent 12V compressor. Essentially ALL the compressors on Amazon have a fair number of comments saying that the hose or the cable come out quickly due to poor quality, and by the time you need the compressor for a repair, it will be dead. The...

Which Ceramic coating for on TOP of PPF? Do they really last longer than a year?

You're certainly right about hype and marketing. I'm doing my best here to separate BS and what I would call "data", that is, real people making real observations about their car. So, when I see the reviews on amazon I see lots of people saying wow - looks great!!!! - and they put it on three...

Which Ceramic coating for on TOP of PPF? Do they really last longer than a year?

Hello T-heads: I had a full PPF wrap (because I scrape and park in bushes all the time) and I was told by installer and by various youtubers that one can apply ceramic coating on top of that. Now there are various ceramic coats apparently made specially for ON TOP OF ceramic coating (they call...

    New Buick Electra E4 Unveiled

I think that Tesla seems to be making a profit with very good performing cars (charging system now much slower but Kia/Hyundai, but still pretty good) selling at $45-$50k with big batteries. OK, now to save the world from climate crisis we need someone who can make a decent BEV that makes a...

Well shoot, the rendering is spectacular. If the car actually looked like that, I'd trade it for my model Y in a heartbeat. The problem is that I"ve never seen an american car with an interior that wasn't completely awful in real life. But hey, they may be changing with the change to EVs...

..... Mr. Voxel: Thank you for your post and very sorry about your Mach-E experience. According to ABPR, if you leave Altamonte Springs, FL in a model YLR with 90% charge, you arrive in Starke with 37%. On the way back, you stop in Ocola, FL at 16%, charge for SEVEN MINUTES to get to 43%...

Ford will add NACS to next gen EVs!

Thank you so much for that chart - found it really fascinating. Here is the on-topic comment: people are saying above that only some % of chargers will be shared. Didn't Tesla say earlier that it would open its chargers to all EVs, but that didn't include the very fastest? Was that in fact...

Ford will add NACS to next gen EVs!

How come no one is asking the obvious question: Will this make OUR superchargers, which we paid for, more crowded? Did Elon promise (for what its worth) that he would put in more if this has any effect on wait times? This is important. our Teslas don't suck because we can road trip them...

2024 Chevy Blazer EV: Up to 320 mile range, MSRP between $45-$66k, plus a “Police Pursuit” model

Plenty of anecdotal data show that non-Tesla chargers suck with a capital SUCK, have absolutely terrible reliability. However, there *are* faster charging cars then Tesla. The Ioniq and EV6 architecture is faster. 10 to 80% in under 17 min. reference: Kia EV6 Charging Speed: How Fast Is...

2024 Chevy Blazer EV: Up to 320 mile range, MSRP between $45-$66k, plus a “Police Pursuit” model

Thank you for that, Sparkland. I'd love for other auto makers to offer affordable, good quality EVs. However, when you click on "specs" it goes to a picture that is linked to nothing. That is typical for every EV announcement I've ever seen. Hype first, disappointment later. I'm skeptical...

Phido's Model 3 and reducing drag experiments

I'm really curious about the origin and purpose of the weird flat middle part of the nose. Do you have a reference for that? Is that what it's for, to direct air around, rather than over/under the car? It's super-ugly and I believe it leads to a special "feature" of Teslas: We get the most...

OK, so here is my first big fail: Posts. Even really big ones. Really, really big, well-marked ones. It does really well on irregular but larger surfaces, such as hedges, no matter how irregular. But even a thick, well-marked pole, it can't see. Strange. Be careful there! -TPC

Anti-EV comments heard on my roadtrip so far

Regarding "They don't believe in Nuclear..." A "new" nuke is scheduled to come on-line in Georgia, the Vogtle plant. It was "started" in something like 2006 (permit application) and so now in 2023, 17 years later, it should start generating electricity at a cost of billions - that is $USD...

That's really interesting, but it definitely belies experience. My honda civic I'm pretty sure has electronic fuel injection, but driving around Tuolemne meadows, just back and forth, it gets poor mileage, without going up and down Tioga. In addition, driving up from Lone pine toward Whitney...

My dominant (like 80% of miles) use case for transport is for road trips to the mountains of CA. About 20% of that includes really remote and partially dirt road type places. Traction control devices for snow (California)

    EV6 to a Model Y

One thing though - Tesla's native navigation isn't good at off-the-grid destinations, or any destination without a destination charger. It seems to want you to arrive with ~ 10%. I wrote another thread about this, and the consensus was you fool it to plan a round trip (which is an option it...

I went with the MYLR, the overriding points were the charging network (repeat 3 times) and the EV6 cockpit felt really really dark. You indicate they are same performance, but the EV6 didn't feel as peppy to me (but that's just an objective measurement, it's available somewhere, e.g. the 0-60...
