    Charge On Solar Australia

We had a similar issue at our place when we installed the Wall Connector, as it is connected at the meter box out front and not at the switchboard inside. We ended up moving the CTs from the switchboard to the meter box and that fixed the issue. It cost a few hundred bucks but was worth it.

    Powerwall 3 Roadmap - 3 Phase Coming!

As an interesting aside; US properties do get 240V but not in the same way we do in Australia. They use a "split phase" approach that results in 2x120V supply lines and a reference neutral. US residential 240V is possible for heavy loads, e.g., what they call a "Level 2" EV charger. Detailed...

    Powerwall 3 Roadmap - 3 Phase Coming!

You can't directly compare the Redback ST10000 to a single Powerwall 2, because the Tesla option is a single-phase unit, whereas ST10000 is a true three-phase device. Also Redback uses Pylontech LFP batteries whereas Powerwall 2 is Tesla NCM. When we purchased the Redback our shortlist also...

The Tesla TACC/Autopilot system differentiates between freeways and normal roads. I think on freeways it won't auto-adjust but on normal roads it will?

New Tesla PW2 install on two phase house.

We had a similar issue with our battery system (not Powerwall) and in the end the installer came back and moved our energy monitor device out of the switchboard in our house to the actual meter box at the perimeter of our property. Once they were effectively monitoring all net power flows in/out...

Ground Clearance and Steep Driveways - Tesla 3

I bought a bunch of ramps from JLC and they are great. The guy even came down to the Gold Coast with samples to help me find the right profile for our situation. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

New Tesla PW2 install on two phase house.

It sounds like the PW2 knows nothing of the second phase, I believe PW2 can be setup to monitor up to three phases to support the net metering that you are after. If your installer can't fix this then not sure what else you can do except find an installer who is knowledgeable enough to resolve...

    AGL’s “Night Saver Energy Plan”

Yes, my intent was not to "catch out" gazza but to describe more completely the criteria under which that intriguing plan becomes available and provide a link.

    AGL’s “Night Saver Energy Plan”

Good tip. However, this plan only seems to be available if you have an Origin 360 EV Subscription or EV Charger installed by Origin. https://www.originenergy.com.au/electric-vehicles/energy-plan/

    QLD Slimline Plates

My friend has three letter QLD flexi plates on his Model Y. It was a bit of a pain and involved double-sided tape. The regular slimline plates fit just fine, I've got those on my Model 3.

Universal Mobile Connector (UMC) in Australia

You should look into an energy meter with CT clamps, that way you can monitor the energy directly. Many solar inverters would come with this sort of energy monitor.

Why does my Model Y only charge at a max of 24 A?

If you are using the Tesla Wall Charger then part of the provisioning process is to set the maximum charge current. What makes you think you have 32A available? It may have been provisioned for 24A. If your installer used properly sized breaker/wiring for 32A then it may be possible to raise the...

    Slimline QLD plates Model Y

We have slimline QLD plates on our Model 3. They fit on the existing mounting plate just fine, no mods needed. I even found a clear plate cover at Supercheap Auto that fits. Was there more to your question?

Charging from Excess Solar with Teslapy

Nice! I'm Gold Coast, too. Here are my stats for the same day (14th June 2023). Cyan = consumed battery (incl. Tesla charging) Yellow = consumed solar (incl. Tesla charging) Blue = grid import Purple = grid export Pink = battery charge

Gotcha. Similar to @Vostok I have a house battery so I don't mind if I have to draw power from the battery for a few minutes after someone turned a major appliance on ;)

Charging from Excess Solar with Teslapy

Yes! I've implemented this in my HA with the following pieces: Tesla integration :) Solar inverter integration for HA (had to write my own) - syncs data for necessary sensors (grid import/export/etc.) Template sensor to calculate desired charge rate (we have a house battery so it is...

Piece of cake - install the Tesla integration into Home Assistant. GitHub - alandtse/tesla: Tesla custom integration for Home Assistant. This requires a refresh token be generated by third-party apps to login. You can install it via HACS, and then control your car charge rate in Home Assistant.

    Model Y RWD sound system

We have 2022 M3LR which comes with the "premium" audio system. It sounds great, better than previous car (2020 VW Golf with the upgraded audio). No idea how it compares to BMW. If you do go for a Model 3, the base model doesn't (or didn't) include premium audio (no subwoofer etc.). The only way...

Tesla app unable to wake car

Problem still exists here today in QLD. Model 3 was working flawlessly until last week. Now the app will not work unless: (a) you are in Bluetooth range or (b) the car has not gone to sleep. Also, remote API calls (such as ChargeHQ) are ignored because the car is asleep and cannot wake.

    Supercharger - Runaway Bay, Qld

That tends to be a quieter section of the carpark, but do I hope they mark this out for EVs only - on busy days those parks will be gone.

Charging from Excess Solar with Teslapy

I'm doing something similar with Home Assistant (HA). I wrote an HA integration for my Redback inverter that gathers the solar production data. I then use an automation to watch the grid export and set the Tesla charge rate using the HA Tesla integration. Works great!

3 phase charger with 1-phase solar

User error and/or a safety concern? Tesla stalk placement.

I think the point is valid. The consequence of a user error in other cars is low impact (wipers go on), the consequence of a user error in Tesla is higher impact (cruise control engages). I can't think of a solution, that's just the way it is designed. EDIT: maybe if you could configure which...

    Car starts charging without prompt

I don't know what Octopus is but our Model 3 has started doing this after a recent upgrade to 2023.2.10. We are using the Gen 3 wall charger. It's a bit of a pain as it means I can't leave the car plugged in.

    Wall connector amps question

If OP would like peace of mind then they could fiddle with Jcalc to determine if 4mm2 is sufficient for the installation Cable Size Calculator AS/NZS 3008 Personally I would have opted for 6mm2 cable for 32A, unless it was a short run, but I'm no electrician!

    3 Phase Powerwall

I know this thread is about 3 phase Powerwall, but in case anyone is interested we have our 3 phase house working very nicely with a Redback Technologies ST10000. It's a 10kW hybrid 3 phase inverter, up to 5kW in/out of battery and built-in backup capability (at 16A per phase). Our is configured...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

To be fair, I think the phantom braking is getting much better with the latest releases. IMHO the real gotcha moving away from radar to Tesla Vision is loss of functionality when conditions for vision are poor (dark, heavy rain, etc.).

    Queensland Electric Highway

Precisely. You wouldn't want to legislate away the chance to even have a 50kW charger. 150kW means you need guaranteed supply of 215A per phase, which may be unobtainable in many locations. It also means a much higher grade of installation which I'm assuming further erodes the viability of the...
