It is totally up to you. Like you, I like to keep mine as pristine as I can keep, appearance-wise. Plus, it sucks when your brand new car gets scratches, dents etc... Not that ppf are made of indestructible material, but they really do give you a peace of mind when driving and parking your car...

Alternatively, you can use something like a rim blade to cover/protect the rim. They can be a little pricey but gives you a peace of mind. It protected mine a few times. It matches the Uberturbine rim pretty well. .

Update: So the tesla service guy visited me earlier this week. He did mention that he had seen this before and also his suspicion on this happened during the window tinting. He also showed me how it could have happened and asked if I have any third party components such as puddle lights...

That is my biggest suspicion is too.. But I think it is too late. I think anyone who thinks of getting windows tinted should be aware of this and take pictures of the car all around before and right after at the tint shop.
