    Chill Mode usage

Had it in standard for a few months after purchase but also switched to chill. It's provided more than enough acceleration when needed and just seems easier to maintain normal traffic speeds around town. Not interested in going through tires faster than necessary.

    FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?

$1K, transferable, and I might consider it as an "early adopter". I don't think I'd even pay $99 for a long road trip.

What video game controller do you recommend?

I don't console normally but got a PS5 for the M3. Has worked flawlessly for hundreds of hours of gaming.

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

Tell me I'm wrong but when I tried it getting into a turn lane cancelled the signal, then I'd have to re-engage while in the turn lane. Now that you mention auto-cancel, better than number of blinks would be: Half pull. Signal on until lane change (cancel) Full pull. Signal on until turn...

Adjust the number of lane change blinks. Three just seems too short to me.

Did you own any other brand of EV before getting a Tesla?

We bought a low mileage 2013 Focus in early 2020 just to have a second car. It was fun but limited to around town really. I pretty quickly nerded out on regen and really liked the simplicity. Let my kids use it during the first few years of covid since we weren't driving much. When we moved...

Model 3 LR AWD - Two Year Snapshot

I hear it. I'm coming up on 2 years in May with my M3LR. Charged to 100% yesterday before a longer than normal drive and showed max range of 326m. A slap in the face. Most of the time I cycle between 35-20% and have recently been doing 45-35%. I'm hoping the BMS just needs some looks at...

Charge ports opens then closes immediately - won't open with external press.

No, it just started working some time later. But I did have to physically hold the port open to charge at least once. I don't have to charge that often but from the request to service date it was less than a week.

Charge ports opens then closes immediately - won't open with external press.

I had this happen about 2 months ago. Also had an alert that the charger port wouldn't open by pressing. By the time service showed up it had fixed itself. I had that warning for a long time but never even verified it, e.g. always used the app or screen in car to open port.

    New EV tire options

Curious to see some real world tests on the Nokian Remedy WRG5. On paper they claim it does almost everything, including low rolling resistance and good snow traction (3PMSF rated.)

Temperature range by which I meant setting a low-high, e.g. heat to at least 66 and A/C when above 72. I don't ever want to feel A/C in the winter so I constantly have to set to manual to prevent it. My home thermostat does this flawlessly. Agree and energy screen isn't quite a substitute.

Does anyone have experience with a SolarEdge system (panels + battery) and a SolarEdge EV charger?

We've had a SolarEdge system and charger since late '21. I tried excess solar for a while and it works fine. However, it's slow and less efficient. Now I just use the excess to get to 40a for shorter periods of time.

Buying a Tesla for another person

You will likely need to charge your friend interest. Look up "Applicable Federal Rate", e.g. What Are Minimum-Interest Rules?, and probably should talk to an accountant or the like. The IRS hates a no-interest solid to anyone.

Rollaway while outside of the car

Kind of doesn't matter. OP got in the car and hit the brakes which stopped the roll/slide. Still indicates to me that the parked state may not be sufficient if it is necessary for the brake pedal to be depressed in certain conditions.

Five Year Review -- Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor AWD

These two things are at the top of my list as well. I'm not quite 2 years in but every time I have to drive, it feels a little like the first time in a go-cart. Click, hit the pedal and you're off. Love it. Put some fun back into driving after decades of dreadful commuting.

    Portable car vacuum for cleaning?

If you're in the market for a full-size vacuum that doubles as portable, can highly recommend the Greenworks stick. Most versatile vacuum I've ever owned. They regularly have decent sales as well.

    Rotating new tires, Tesla service

I had mobile out last week for a glovebox issue and scheduled a rotation since we're at 10K miles on the tires. He said exactly the same thing. Said that our chill driving (not sure how he could tell) and that it was AWD were helping them to wear evenly. Also, even though our roads are...

    Door seals and scratches

I'm testing out the Lasfit door sill protectors that I got from Vendor - CLOSED!!! GIVEAWAY! Lasfit Tesla Tester Program - 20 Participants LIMITED!!!. My experience so far is that they 1) certainly protect from additional scuffing and 2) clean up much easier than the stock trim.

New Tesla owner. Climate control question.

I think the best you can do is split the cabin. If you adjust the temp on driver's side it will pop up a slider. To the right is a split button. Then she can adjust temp on her side higher which, if roughly ambient, may lower the fan.

    Tesla Universal Wall Connector

Is this really that amazing? I mean if you have J1772 charger with the adapter, non-teslas can just remove the adapter. And the video clearly shows that you do need an adapter, it's just in the dock. Sounds like cover for NACS-only/default solution but not super innovative. What am I missing?

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Great video. I don't see how there's much mystery around battery care. His temperature slides have some practical uses. You can mitigate capacity loss in high temps, e.g 95f/35c+, by cycling the battery at the lowest SoC range that's convenient for you. The lower the better. If you have...

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

Most often between 20-35%. We only need to charge every few days, usually an hour (~13%) during peak solar. Our most frequent longer trips only require about 20% round trip. Not much need to go above 50%.

    Lasfit Product Reviews

After spending too much time in the megathread on these type of covers, I just ordered these last week and put them on over the weekend. Everything about these has been great: well packaged, solid construction, perfect fit, and give the 3 a bit of distinction. Haven't noticed any significant...

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

I'm thinking of doing sort of the same, except only once, not to mimic a lease. In Colorado, first year registration is quite a bit higher and I wouldn't want to pay that every year. Also, tint on this vehicle is mandatory for me, ceramic, color correction, etc. I doubt any of that would...

    Colorado DMV registration?

Yeah, their site is messed up. I contacted them about it and a rep basically said they are updating the system and this part unfortunately hasn't been done yet. Also people at the DMV tried to charge me $60 for the new EV plates w/o the sticker. So I went with the normal plates. Same rep...

What a ridiculously ignorant statement. Most of the world, e.g. China, India, etc., aren't driving around in YUUUGE HP vehicles and probably wouldn't even if they could. All of those Civics bought of pure desperation! And you didn't even read the article.

    Vendor BASENOR Custom Tesla Sunshade

Just installed the sun roof and back shades a few days ago. The heat reduction is noticeable. Even in the morning, driving into the sun, I can feel it slow roasting me through the windshield. But the cabin feels good as soon as I turn away. Definitely going to get in the habit of putting the...
