MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

Another service center is taking a stab at it now ;) They will probably try with the main body harness replacement. I will update after it's resolved or any progress is made as this is quite of an interesting case that puzzled a few techs already.

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

As promised adding all the codes the car tossed when dying on the road, so that google can index it. Some of them were still active after car mysteriously came to life for a handful of hours, some of them appeared multiple times in recents. DIR_a234_pcsMIA DIF_a234_pcsMIA...

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

Thanks! Currently driving towards CA ;) ---- So, the saga of mysterious Tesla continues, now involving engineers from the HQ. Nobody knows what's the problem but the suspect is actually either on the front main harness, steering rack, or the front drive unit ECU shorting LV or CAN. These parts...

    AirPlay incoming

I tried a few of them. From what I heard they a variation of the same Android-based software, utilizing a leaked key. Don't get me wrong, it's not impossible to implement Wireless CarPlay, but it's significantly harder. I'm saying this as someone working with people implementing this for one of...

    AirPlay incoming

Technically speaking they could use AVRCP to integrate media browsing, but it's most likely a close-to-zero chance they will do it. Wireless CarPlay isn't that easy to implement, unlike AirPlay (which is pretty much always wireless). Wired CarPlay is easier than AirPlay - it's just 1 or more...

Locked, Zero% battery, frunk trick with 12V battery (A23) did not work

The A23 definitely does work. The 9V battery didn't work for me (a 16V car). I didn't try it myself, but I heard it's perfectly safe to use two 9V batteries connected together on newer cars. After all, 18V on a 16V system shouldn't cause an issue as the input on these external cables is actually...

    AirPlay incoming

It does not actually. What it does is it can do negotiation over BT to offer more seamless experience, but the streaming itself doesn't. The issue with BT is lack of bandwidth, as well as the stability of the available bandwidth. Bluetooth was never designed for such purposes; A2DP was...

It's possible some clip wasn't fully attached and you just fixed it ;)

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

Mine is actually the new 16V Li-Ion one (2022 car). The symptoms I believe escalated far beyond just LVB being bad now, closer to PCS or VCF maybe. It seems like it's holding a stable charge for hours but it's randomly not being charged due to CAN errors breaking the communication. I'm not...

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

True, that's always a concern. Fortunately charging is pretty redundant. The onboard charger has multiple separate subsections, where malfunction of one doesn't usually prevent the AC charging from working completely but just cuts the rate. In addition, the DCFC charging is separate from AC...

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

I finally had a minute to reply to your messages guys. First of all: thank you for words of encouragement, it really helps as we're still stuck in the city, at least with a loaner now. --- We reached the right people finally and once they really saw the situation the tune really changed...

Quickest power failure according to roadside assistance on our new Y

Check errors in the service menu. It can be many things. I'm currently chasing an issue with the Tesla service center with vehicle "loosing power" suddenly and throwing almost exactly the same user-mode errors as yours. However, the service menu actually lists 40-50 codes stating CAN bus errors...

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

So, update time: they actually went above and beyond, with tech staying until 11pm yesterday. They were thinking it's fixed after replacement of front subframe harness and a steering ECM. The tech REALLY tried, went on multiple test drives, we did too. The car seemed perfectly normal. The car...

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

I was surprised by that as well. It's weird however there were no LVB codes triggered, especially that it's the new 16V one with integrated BMS. Nothing about LVB the first time it died, nor after it went into limp mode the second time. Initially I even suggested I can just buy it and replace...

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

The only thing they offered was Uber credits, which in my case isn't really that helpful, especially that nobody can even tell me if it's gonna be a day or 30.

MY disabled 1000 miles from home ... twice. Any ideas?

Hey! Long time lurker here and until yesterday a very happy 2022 MY owner here. So, a bit of a background story: I am (was?) on a road trip, currently 1000 miles from home. Went to the gym for 30 minutes and my Model Y was unable to be unlocked, didn't react to the app nor waving in front of...

    Illinois Waiting Room

Yeah, pure luck indeed. We actually wanted to have the car around the summer but we were able to take the delivery earlier. Fingers crossed for some speed up for you too! Ordering a fully standard config actually increases the time significantly, changing just the wheels or interior actually...

    CCS Adapter - ?

So, I see that the table goes as far as 2021 so I can contribute 2022 here picked up end of April 2022 and being a 2022 make year based on the VIN. It has the CCS enabled/installed from the factory. I wonder if they solved the production/silicone hell now and are able to bring the PLC into all...

    What the?

This isn't actually that abnormal of a behavior. Many Li-* chargers charge to 100% and then balance the cells and waste some energy doing this. This is mostly done with larger multi-cell packs. So you may just be witnessing small balancing current + battery heater running ;)

    CCS Adapter - ?

In simpler terms for anyone's education: - thermistor: a special thing which changes resistance (how much lower the voltage going IN will be when it goes OUT) based on temperature. These are not exactly linear (e.g. it's not like 1 volt = 10°C and 2 volt = 20°C) so they need a special table to...

Looking for white interior MY trim pieces

I wanted to look around over ebay as well but I hoped to first check how much tesla will charge (and flip mine on ebay ;)), or at least make ebay searching easier with the P/N. While at worst the center piece can be wrapped, the door is a no-go.

Looking for white interior MY trim pieces

I love the white interior accents of MY, but I absolutely hate white seats due to practicality over time. This is why I decided to order the black interior and some time in the future swap a few pieces: I was looking through TPC to first find the front trim piece (B above) and I only see the...

    Illinois Waiting Room

Guys, don't hate me - order placed on 4/17/2022 with delivery on 4/26/2022 (originally quoted ~October). I think my wife and I had more luck than brains :D We ordered a MY LR w/Midnight Silver & 20" wheels after test driving M3 and MY. After that we also spoke with a great showroom advisor and...

where is the "precondition my battery" button?

It's the Apple style of dealing with UX - show less but don't really block access to the under-the-hood data. Tesla can (albeit not easily) scramble CAN and use PKI between modules, cutting out SMT-like tools but they didn't. They want to keep the whole car to feel like "magic" where things just...

    CCS Adapter for North America

Someone mentioned in the DIY thread that this happened before a few months ago with the same effect (appeared briefly and then vanished again). It sadly may be a placeholder item for a kit which is still under development (hopefully not...) or just the great silicone shortage manufacturing slip.
  27. kiler129

    CCS Adapter - ?

It's just a different thermistor curve & orange panel presence sensor - this is what the DIY approach emulates by faking the proper state of the cover & adapting the thermistor to an extent. Tesla can easily change that in the ECUs firmware and make the gen 3 port with gen 4 CCS-enabled ECU work...

Sound system glitch for 22 refresh. No bass/immersion sound

Isn't this the same issue as with MY after 2022.12.3.1? (2022.12.3.1 subwoofer & immersive sound vanished)

2022.12.3.1 subwoofer & immersive sound vanished

It broke for me in 2022.12.3.1 as well but it seems to be fixed in 2022.12.3.2 which installed yesterday. YMMV but so far (24h and 150+ miles) it looks to be fixed.

What about a Model 3 estate?

It looks like Volvo and VW had a baby... and it ain't pretty. On the serious side I don't think we will ever see such a style from Tesla. It feels dated and it will internally cannibalize MY sales.

Salvage cars: Tesla permanently disabling SC from supercharger

IANAL but probably they have some fine print in their TOC stating they can deny SC access any time they want. SC is after all a service they offer and operate. When I did some modifications to my older Hyundai they cut me off Sirius and BlueLink, and told me to essentially eat dirt. The lawyer...

Salvage cars: Tesla permanently disabling SC from supercharger

You are right about the software change on the car. However, as they own and operate the SC network they can do whatever they want and deny the service to anyone for any reason. Is the policy fair? That's a different question all together...
