Did it myself, and the 2021 console I got was from a salvage yard for around $500. New from tesla it is for around $950 if I'm not mistaken.

I'm currently on 2022.40.4 2022.40.4.1 safe?

My console came out from a crashed 2021 model and had data on both usb C's, yes the only thing I had to swap was the Authorization card reader.

I did the swap into my 2020 M3, you will have to swap the authorization unit from your old console into the new console. very happy with the results.
