All the more reason my prediction when I made this post back in October was dead on. Used values of Model 3's are going to tank so I'm really screwed, couldn't even sell it if I wanted to.
Oh well, lesson learned.
I guess I was right and should have taken my own advice of OCT/NOV being the worst time to take delivery of a Tesla Model Y/3. I took delivery of a Model 3 RWD on November 19th, now the car is discounted $7500 up front with 10,000 free supercharging miles.
That sucks.
Interesting.
I ordered it on June 16 with my original order. A model Y AWD popped up and I switched orders to that, but that fell through so I placed a new Model 3 Order on OCT 30 and it's being delivered on Saturday. I kept my original Mobile connector order from June 16 and it never shipped...
I ordered a new one, hopefully it ships soon. Also hoping they refund my last order that they cancelled. Very annoying that they can't respond within 24 hours of emailing them about order issues.
Has anyone else had issues getting a mobile connector? I've had one on order since June 16, I emailed Tesla asking when it will ship since my vehicle is scheduled for delivery on Saturday. I checked this morning and the order was cancelled. No cancellation confirmation, no communication, no...
I mean the Model 3 LR is $58k, so $11k more than the RWD model. I do believe they will bring the price under $55k in January and introduce a non LFP RWD/SR variant if it does not qualify for the tax credit due to the batteries.
We know the Model Y AWD variant is coming soon, priced at $62k and...
I ended up canceling my Model Y order and going with a Model 3 RWD. Saving nearly $19k for basically the same car minus the extra height and cargo space. Very happy with my decision as I did not want this to become the family beater car.
In the future, once Model Y prices come down or the...
Totally up to you. I don't know what price you have your Model Y P locked in at, but I just don't personally think the car is worth $70k. I decided to cancel my Model Y order and go with a Model 3 RWD as I enjoy driving the model 3 more and intentionally don't want it to become the family beater...
I ended up canceling the Y and re-ordered the 3 RWD. Just can't justify a $19k difference after taxes. The Model 3 is going to be my car, the whole point is that it won't be the family beater. I watched a video that did measurements of the back seats between the Y and 3, what surprised me is...
Yea, if it was my car, I would totally agree. But for my wife, she loves the Sienna. The cargo and people space in the Sienna is significantly more than the large SUV's, gas mileage matters to her, and reliability.
The Sienna does have all those safety features in the higher trim levels...
My wife likes the Sienna a lot more than the large SUV's. In terms of acceleration, the telluride and Sienna are almost identical, not sure what you mean by slow. It might not feel it due to the CVT, but it's 0-60 times are sub 8 seconds, similar to the Telluride.
What she cares about is having...
How are you liking the Model 3? Do you find it's big enough? We have 1 daughter who is 18 months and my only concern with the M3 is it would be too small for a growing family.
I def am not excited to pay $68k after taxes and everything for a Model Y, I don't think the prices in the US will go...
What's your EDD now? Mine is showing NOV 9 - NOV 23rd. Looks like it will be coming soon. I still feel like I'm buying at peak pricing and getting screwed given the price cuts in China. I wonder if I add the 7 seat option if it will delay it significantly so I can wait until 2023 since Giga...
Thank you, I think you are correct. I will be buying it with cash as I don't like to hold debt on vehicles and you're exactly right, It's the thought not only of the current pricing but also the opportunity cost. With that said, I am fortunate that my business is still doing well even if our...
These are fair points. We do need a 2nd vehicle and there really is not many options that we're interested in right now. I've test drove most of the EV competition and was not super impressed compared with the Tesla.
I guess it's just a mental game, I've lost multiples of the cost of this...
Thanks for all the insights everyone. We need a 2nd car and are not planning to trade in our current car at the moment. Our options are either the Model Y or the Toyota Sienna (Low maintenance, incredibly practical, great on gas, the wife loves it, no EV Minivans available at the moment.) We...
Thanks for all the insights. I still have a month before the current delivery window starts so we will see. The issue is, there's not many other options that I would be excited about. I test drove the Volvo C40 and the Kia EV6 this morning. I really did not like the volvo (Felt very small and...
So just to clarify, I can afford it and I won't qualify for the tax rebate. So that specifically isn't a deciding factor. As for the USS Sensors, from my understanding this change has already happened. If you get your car today, it won't have the sensors.
Just to put everything in perspective, My Model Y AWD (Long story, but it's the 4680 structural pack build) is scheduled to be delivered in November. Looking at everything going on at the moment, it seems like this could be the worst time to accept delivery of a Model Y for the following...
Hey! This morning my EDD now says "TBD", hopefully we get a good news update. Is yours still showing the old EDD or TBD now?
I cancelled my Model 3 order as I really think the Y makes more sense for my situation, even though I like driving the 3 more.
Ah, interesting, No update here, I decided to cancel my M3 order as I really think the MY will be a better overall vehicle for my situation. I have a feeling that EDD will be pretty accurate and we may know more next month after AI day.
I'm also ok with waiting a bit longer as I really want to...
Ok great, let me know what they say. I called this morning and they had no new updates. The person I spoke with today said that he thinks they put these cars up by accident and said he believes they will be opening these up to the public soon. I asked to add the tow hitch, he unlocked my order...
Oh wow, that's way sooner than mine! What is your config? Do you have any upgraded features like one of the paid paint colors?
I've been calling the number at the service center it was supposed to be delivered to, it then directs me to the Florida sales team. The guy I spoke with last week...
I just got an updated EDD this morning at 10 am EST. It's now showing December 19 - January 30. I'm going to call this week and see if there's any news, but may add the tow bar and see how that effects the EDD since this is now months away.
I just called this morning, My SA said they have the same information we have at the moment but they are putting together a FAQ as multiple people are calling in with the same questions. They are going to submit the FAQ up to Tesla HQ for clarity and said to call back next week and he should...
Yea, I think an issue with the 4680 is most likely. Our price should be locked in with this order so I doubt it's a price issue. I have a feeling something happened with the 4680 cells so they had to scrap the plans to produce these. It makes sense for them to slowly roll these vehicles out...
All of them are cancelled. I'm going to hold onto the order though. If this was due to an unexpected issue with the 4680's or structural packs I'm sure they will be trying again soon. We might end up getting them sooner rather than later if that's the case.
Did anyone get an updated EDD that's...
I just tested if I can edit my order using the "https://www.tesla.com/teslaaccount/edit-design/" link and I can. It shows the price as $0 though lol, but it does let me edit. I didn't save any changes as I don't want to mess with anything until my EDD is updated.
I'm waiting for my SA to call me back. Same situation, Ordered on Sunday with an EDD of Sept 1-11 and had a VIN, had insurance lined up and everything. Yesterday afternoon the VIN disappeared but EDD is still the same as of today. Waiting to hear back from my SA. I May see if I can edit my order...
I ordered a "Inventory" Model Y AWD that popped up in Orlando on Sunday. When I purchased, I had a VIN and went through the entire process to be ready for delivery, except for paying. About an hour ago, the VIN was gone.
What does this mean? Has anyone Lost a VIN on an inventory order?
I wrote a detailed post on Reddit explaining my theory, but here's a short version.
Tesla runs into an issue if the M3 LR gets the $7500 credit and the RWD does not as the prices would be near identical after the credit. It does not make sense for them not to take full advantage of the tax...
Before anyone does anything, I would wait to see if
1. This bill actually passes. and
2. If it does, what will Tesla do with pricing?
Musk has been hinting that prices will be coming down soon with tweets saying that many of their commodity prices have come down and on the earnings call...
