    6 Weeks & 7,000 Miles - Thoughts from a penny pincher (2023 MYLR)

I’ve done 3200mi in my first 9 months owning my MY and mainly charge at home only using the SC for the occasional road trips (2 so far). Did the maths the other day and I paid a total of 200 GBP for charging (home + public). Impossible to beat with any ICE :D Disclaimer: i live in the UK. I...

Seatbelt warning when passenger seat is empty

Fair. Don’t have the problem yet. The car seat causing issue is the heavy one tough which can’t be used with the vehicle belt. The lighter one is fine when empty.

UK bike rack recommendations for MY

As described in another post ( Fix4Bike tow bar bicycle carrier ) my Model Y came with a fix4bike tow bar wich gives some nice options for bike racks wich are east to mount

Do I need Tow Bar package if I will only use to carry bikes.

The factory tow bar on my model Y (2023) is a Oris Fix4Bike one. Gives you nice options for bike racks. I wrote about it in a thread but can’t figure out how to link it using the TMC app. Search for ‘ Fix4Bike tow bar bicycle carrier’ With two e-bikes, you put quite some weight on the carrier...

Seatbelt warning when passenger seat is empty

Two child seats in the back. Warning light comes on all the time. Bought those seat belt clips. Looks good and solved it. They are solid metal so have a nice feel to it as well https://www.tesdrive.co.uk/products/seat-belt-clip

    Fix4Bike tow bar bicycle carrier

I just got a new tow bar bike rack for my Model Y. Thought I’ll share my knowledge in case someone else is in a similar position: I discovered that there is a new generation of tow bars which allow easier mounting of the bike carrier. The system is called Fix4Bike, originally developed by Oris...

    Windscreen washer nozzle missing? UK

I noticed that the jet nozzle holder in the middle of the driver‘s windscreen wiper arm has only one metal nozzle on one side installed, while there is a hole on the other side (see picture). Is this normal? This is a 2023 MY MIC RHD(UK)

UK spare-part availability - X in for 3+ months waiting for part

Not sure that’s related to the car though. My home insurance increased by 50% this year. I’ve more a feeling that due to the current economical situation, companies use the excuse of inflation to hike prices

UK spare-part availability - X in for 3+ months waiting for part

I‘ve been waiting for a replacement floor panel since December. SC got one after a few months but it was damaged. It’s now scheduled for April. Let’s see if that works out

Tesla Model X - GivEnergy or Tesla PW

What ever you go for, check the inverter‘s noise level. I’ve a Victron inverter. While it’s working well, it emits a permanent hum which gets louder with increased loads which is audible throughout the house.

I’d expect the car only locks if it is scheduled for service. Otherwise you couldn’t drive to the service centre to e.g. test drive the newest Tesla

    I scratched my rear bumper

Managed to scratch the front bumper on my old ICE (narrow parking spot, touched house wall). I brought it to my local dealer. They charged 260 GBP for it (including fixing some other scratches one accumulated over the years). Repair was spotless, looked like new. Might be worth just asking a...

16 A charge limit in car/app. Car broken?

Sorry wasn’t clear enough. This is when I plug in the Wallbox pulsar plus. I can control charging current via the Wallbox but the car seems to default to a max of 16A with the plug plugged in but the charger not sending electricity to the car. Once the Wallbox starts charging, the car jumps to...

Other Home Battery Options? (PW alternative)

I was hoping by this time I can report back with some stats on how well the system is performing. Quite the opposite… The electrician I was working with pulled out last minute. Now I’m stuck with about 5000 pounds worth in equipment and do not have anyone to install it. Now I’m looking for a...

when at the SC, I was still able to “start” the car via the app even though the pin to drive already changed.

Final test drive tomorrow am I making the right decision

A lot of the discussion here is around range so I’d like to highlight a few benefits an EV gives you over an ICE: Besides the obvious environmental benefit, the quietness and calmness you get from not having that engine run makes the whole ride way more relaxed. There is something to it: the...

16 A charge limit in car/app. Car broken?

When I plug my 32A charger in the Car but the charger doesn’t supply electricity, the car/app show a charging limit of 16A Max. Once the charger supplies electricity, the charging limit adjusts to the 32A

Winter wheels and tyres for Model 3 and Model Y

yeah exactly. I grew up in Austria where it is standard to have summer and winter tyres (required by law). When I started driving in the UK I was rather surprised that people carelessly drive their summer tyres at temperatures below 7 degrees, even through ice and snow. Granted the expense for...

Winter wheels and tyres for Model 3 and Model Y

Sorry, did not mean to criticise your choice of tyres in any way. To be honest, I chose the tyres as those were the cheapest at ATS. Only when I reread your post I realised we got the same. I do agree with all you said.

Winter wheels and tyres for Model 3 and Model Y

Took me a while, but ended up at the same tyre as you @ElectricPolice (Goodyear Ultragrip Perf pro) but on OEM wheels. I’m happy with the looks but the tyre is quite stretched in width, causing the rim to protrude. If I’d know in advance I’d have chosen a different tyre though. I can already...

    Same tyre size, different results

Hello community. I recently got winter tyres for my 2023 Model Y. Even though I chose the exact same dimensions as the summer tyres, the wheel‘s rim now protrudes the tyre wall (not the case on the original summer tyres). Dimensions: 255/45 R19 Wheels summer 19“ Tesla model Y 2023 (silver)...

Other Home Battery Options? (PW alternative)

Iirc the tech spec says operating temp is between 10-40C In my garage it unfortunately gets colder than that

Other Home Battery Options? (PW alternative)

I went with the US3000C as those were included in the kit (and I couldn’t find them cheaper elsewhere). You can pair the US2000C and US3000C, but dont think they are compatible with the US5000. I’d do the calculations based on price/usable capacity but also consider weight and space...

Other Home Battery Options? (PW alternative)

I’m getting a 7kWh battery storage installed. I chose Pylontech batteries paired with a Victron Multiplus charger/inverter. Bought the system on Black Friday for about 4500 pounds. I really like Victron as they have a ton of technical documentation on their website helping with understanding...

Winter wheels and tyres for Model 3 and Model Y

I’d be interested in the costs/setup for the MY as well. I’ve a set of 19“ winter tyres on order from Tesla. Had the same troubles as you finding appropriate tyres. Tesla quoted about 245 per tyre for the Pirelli. That’s not cheap, but cheaper than online prices. (I paid 74 per all season tyre...

[Recommendation] option for a code for FRUNK Access?

Anyone with a 12V power supply can open the frunk while car is locked. Wouldn’t say it’s safe storage

For me it auto-updated. SA asked me to check the app and the car was there. I was quite surprised, tbh

@AndyWW depending on what you haben driven before, the car might be way heavier and therefore breaking feels different. But yeah definitely get it checked out

Driver side mirrors are often slightly convex on the outside to eliminate the blind spot. Haven’t checked if the Tesla has this feature but have had that on several cars in the past

Oh it was so much fun to watch this morning: put the car’s HVAC on defrost. Was hard to not give them a...

Every time I look out of the window I’ve a big grin on. That car is just beautiful and amazing to drive. Still can’t believe I’m owning it. Noticed today that the switches to flip the rear seats are mixed up. The one for the left seat triggers the right one, the one for the right flops the left. Also noticed a fun “warping” noise when stepping on the footwell floor of the rear left seat. Sounds like sheet Metall bending. The...
