Best hours to recharge my Tesla in San Diego?

Side note. For those of you still trying to decide between the SDGE pricing plans EVTOU2 vs EVTOU5 the break even point is 122kwh a month or roughly 4kwh a day. If you use at least this much you will save enough to pay the $16 a month fee. If you use more of this for your car then you pocket...

Best hours to recharge my Tesla in San Diego?

Since my solar and battery 🪫 were installed in 2022 it falls under the Residential Clean Energy Credit. https://www.irs.gov/pub/taxpros/fs-2022-40.pdf I don’t see any language stating it has to be charged from renewable source. Is there another document that I should be referring to? Even if...

Best hours to recharge my Tesla in San Diego?

I just finished year on EVTOU2. SDGE app recommends EVTOU5 which made sense when I did the math (excel nerd) so I switched. I don’t have Tesla power wall but have Enphase battery and their app allows you to schedule charging during off peak hours. SDGE provides incentives for you to shift...

Best hours to recharge my Tesla in San Diego?

If you have solar annd are still on NEM2 and have an EV then I feel EVTOU5 is way to go. Most people drive their vehicle enough to make up for $16 monthly charge. Furthermore, if you have a solar battery that you can schedule to charge during super off peak hours then even better. Instead of the...

    Alignment in San Diego?

Kearney Mesa tesla service Center wanted to charge me $275 for alignment for 2017 MS. Bears Tires in Mira Mesa charged me $90 and did a fantastic job. Was recommended to them by certified tesla collision repair center. That is where they send their teslas for alignment. They just do tires...

Tesla starts giving back Supercharger access to salvaged vehicles

I bet you more than half the non-salvage cars with SC have those scrapes and dings on their under carriage.

Tesla starts giving back Supercharger access to salvaged vehicles

High Voltage inspection and fast charging safety inspection $924 quote in San Diego. Haven’t pulled trigger yet and still doing the workaround trick to enable SC temporarily when I need it since I charge at home 99% of the time. May get it though in the future. Hoping cost will go down but it...

Restoring Supercharging on Salvage Tesla Model S

Sorry but I have been off the forums. Basically you sell the car to yourself (transfer car to another personal email) using the tesla app and SC is enabled for a short period.

If you have CCS enabled definitely another option. I didn’t have it on my car. Was contemplating adding option but only if SC was not an option.

Restoring Supercharging on Salvage Tesla Model S

I used an easy temporary free fix (works for a week) to get SC charging back. I did it for a month and a half with no issues until I got my Tesla Wall Charger installed. Now only use the temporary fix if going on long trips. You can PM me or search for my post in salvage user group.

New Tesla Owner - Salvaged MY

Congrats. If you are having some supercharging issues there are some tips in the salvage community user group. I highly recommend scheduled charging at home daily to 80-90% (super off peak midnight) with a tesla wall charger if you live in CA. Cheaper than SC rates.

Sounds like a Full Software reinstall which you can do if you can get your car in Service Mode. Friend connected his laptop to my MCU then put my car in Service Mode using Toolbox then disconnected and I was able to reinstall on my own and exit service mode. He also showed me how to disable the...

My guess it would be a simple plug and play if replacing with same exact drive unit. Could explain why there is not much online. Morph3x above stated we have full access to service manual online. Service.Tesla.com. There may be detailed instructions there on replacing LDU and what it entails...

If you search “drive unit replacement with upgrade” there is a post which may be useful. I don’t know how to forward. Based on this the LDU are the same in those years. RWD cars used the "large" rear drive unit that is also installed in performance models. RWD: large rear drive unit AWD...

I believe the Rwd and Awd have same LDU and the Performance is different. There is a video which shows an upgrade from Rich Rebuilds which may help.

That I do not know. I thought about that when trying to find a solution. My initial guess is that to connect to SC it has to recognize the car and who to charge/credit card for the electricity. I don’t think it can do that if you disconnect cellular antenna. The solution I proposed is a...

New Salvage MS 2017 90d owner. Now that I am entirely responsible for maintenance (Tesla service won’t work on my car) what things should I be doing/monitoring besides brakes and tires? Anything that typically goes bad in my model? Will take any recommendations.

Thank you very much for the detailed guide. I ordered a laser pointer thinking I could attach it somehow to the radar so I could tell where it was pointing and align it that way. Hoping my mounting bracket is more sturdy because base on what you are telling me it may not support holding weight...

Thanks. This helps a lot. May I ask where the radar is located? Is it a manual calibration by hand or can it be done all via software using Toolbox. My friend has Toolbox and can ask him for help.

I have seen it work for Pay for charging but to be clear it is a temporary fix until Tesla turns SC off again (usually a week). If majority of your driving is local and you only need SC on occasion the transfer trick is not much of a hassle especially if you don’t have CCS option. Other...

Friend put my car in service mode plus so I could do full software reinstall. Found few active errors that wouldn’t clear and I think they are autopilot related which I am trying to fix (possibly bad sensor?) APP_010_radcCalibIssue and THC_w0130_radLeftShutrNoFeedbk Is there place to look up...

Relatively new salvage owner. I have access to someone with toolbox. Is there a place to look up error codes? Having problems with basic autopilot.

Get a wall mount and charge at home. As for supercharging “sell/transfer” car using app to another individual (wife’s email) and your pay as you go supercharging will work again until Tesla turns it off again a week or so. You can tell if you have SC when you navigate to SC and look at details...
