    Model Y Performance range

And do not use miles on your display. It will only cause frustration because it will fluctuate (for many good reasons.). Set your display to % and forget about it.
  2. G

Full charge getting to 87% [car charges to 266 miles]

As others have said, if it won't charge past 87%, put in a service ticket. As for miles, set your display to % and forget about it.

How often does walk-up unlock not work? Why does it happen?

I'm guessing it's mostly a Bluetooth issue. If I'm on my phone with other apps active, it's hit or miss with the car. Or, if I'm at work and between wifi reception (from work) and switching to the regular wireless service, it'll glitch up too.

How do I delete Homelink icon

Press and hold the icon. Another screen will pop up and ask you what you want to replace it with.
  5. G

    Transfer of FSD Question

It more than likely will not transfer (the FSD). FSD has to be purchased at the time of car purchase to be eligible. Because my state uses the purchase price as the basis for your car registration fee, I bought FSD separately which unfortunately means I can't transfer it via the current offer.

What to do when charging to 100% doesn't show the correct number of rated miles?

Never ever use miles - set your display to % and forget about it.
  7. G

    Is it worth reporting bugs?

Those "bug reports" actually don't make it to Tesla. When you bring your car in for service, the tech will dump those to see if it's connected to your problem but they are not sent to the mothership (and apparently never were). However, if you have FSDb and turn off FSDb, you get the chance to...

Watching Tubi or Peacock on an 22MS

If you want the icon/app, the short answer is "no". What appears is controlled by Tesla. The browser method is your only alternative.
  9. G

app says 137 miles when I stop charging (home), but when I unplug car screen says 128 miles!

Never ever use miles - set your display to % and forget about it.

List of destinations chargers inaccurate in UK (& Dublin)

Unfortunately destination chargers are under the purview of the establishment, not Tesla. Unless they let Tesla know that they finished installing one, Tesla would have no way of knowing if it's done or the location was switched, etc.

    Exterior paint problem

The problem with Tesla paint is that it's formulated to meet CA requirements which doesn't allow all those toxic chemicals which makes the paint better. There's a reason why there are no car factories in CA. I'm sure in order to save money, they use the same formulation for all plants including...

    Damming Tesla AP Video, WSJ

Autopilot means you need to be aware and watch. Aircraft autopilot doesn't mean the aircraft doesn't need a pilot so I think the name is fine. Plus, anyone that's driven on AP (or FSDb) learns the limits fairly quickly - it's not that hard to understand what it can and can't do. The footage is...

2022 Model 3 Long Range Ordered

Black/white interior is the correct choice.
  14. G

    SC Idle fee...??

Some superchargers, regardless of time spent charging, will limit to 80%. So if you pull in at 70% and want to go to 90%, it will stop at 80% and then you have to manually re-start charging to get to 90%.

Having fake inside sounds is a deal killer for me!
  16. G

    Weak Homelink Range

I have a Chamerlain opener too but mine works just fine. Both automatically or manually I can open/close just as a round the corner onto my street. As others have said, however, it is fairly directional and works best when I'm heading towards the house and not away from it.
  17. G

    Tesla Bait and Switch?

This is fairly common occurrence from the very beginning of Tesla. Not to excuse behavior but they've been clear they do not want your car and do not want to be in the used car business.
  18. G

how safe do you feel with basic autopilot?

Highway is very capable and I use AP (I have FSDb) on all my trips of any length. In city, it actually works but I drive more aggressively than the car does so I tend to not use it. However, if there's not a ton of traffic, I'll turn it on and FSD works so much better than before. It's now quite...

    Does HW4 matter

People report a fairly big difference between HW 2/2.5 and HW 3. It has been stated more than a few times that HW 3 can do FSD and will do it capably. HW 4 can do FSD and will do it even better. I don't remember the exact comparisons but what I read said HW 3 will be 10x safer than human driver...

    Future Supercharger Costs

You also have to be aware that a lot of superchargers have variable pricing. The FUD people will point out how expensive it is but only use the peak rates and charging to 100%. In reality, neither is typically true. You usually only charge up to the minimum you need and it would be hard to hit...

Is it safe to do a trip from Phoenix USA to Calgary Canada with family plus luggage in RWD Model 3

I have driven that route from MT to Phoenix many times. A suggestion - don't go through Flagstaff. It shaves maybe 20 minutes off and the road is 2 lane and if you get behind traffic, it can be a slow slog. The charger at Cordes Lake stinks from people peeing all around the chargers. I go...
  22. G

"Autopilot limited due to poor visibility"

I too get it but I've not seen any direct effects from it. AP (FSDb for me) still works as usual. I also have gotten the speed reduction when going into fog banks, etc.

Anyone been through asking Tesla to buy back a car lately?

Have you tried other service centers? Since nothing is wrong with the car itself, rather it's careless service employees, I doubt they're under any obligation to buy it back but good luck!

    Terrible Tesla Service

If you're a perfectionist on cosmetic items (gaps, paint, etc.) then seriously, Tesla is not for you. They will be very clear about those items with you and do not expect them to fix it. That is the Tesla way - either you accept it or sell it.

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Won't really be needed as more CCS vendors are adopting the Tesla standard. The vendors will probably be converted to Tesla before Tesla comes out with the mod for us early M3 owners.

    Long Range, RWD

And the thing is, the LR AWD uses the rear motor all the time unless under heavy acceleration or some other type of situation. So the LR AWD basically drives like a LR RWD for the vast majority of the time.

    Map showing European road numbers

They don't control the maps. They use an open source system (OpenStreet or something like that) as the source data and they update their geo/nav system according to whatever data is in OpenStreet. You can go into OpenStreet yourself and submit a labeling change if you want.

    Service Mode to reset TPMS’s?

You don't have to go into the service mode to do that. Go to the service menu from the main menu, then wheel & tire configuration. You can reset the TPMS from there. I use it in the winter when I change to snow tires and run those at lower pressure. It will re-learn what "normal" is so I don't...

What do your in-laws become when your spouse dies?

When my wife died last fall, my interactions with my mother-in-law really didn't change at all. It's still an occasional call and cards at the holidays as usual but that's all the interaction we had when my wife was alive.

Revisiting the Indicator light needed for Autonomous driving! We need an external light!

I get what you're saying but I'd vote no - we don't need one nor would I ever use one if it were invented. It's not a problem that needs solving.
  33. G

How much is expectation of FSD/robotaxis overvaluing TSLA?

I'd say about 0. No serious analyst puts a huge amount of value on something like that. Even if they did in the beginning, it's been talked about for so many years (without substantial progress), that the analyst community would now discount that to pretty close to 0.

Help fixing speed limits in neighborhoods without signs

I use the thumbwheel to dial down the speed on local roads if I find the standard speed to high. No big problem for me.

What do I need for charging on road trips?

I've had mine for 4 years and have done multiple cross country trips (East to West and North to South). Just took my mobile charger and the J1772. Only used the J1772 twice at Chargepoint and my mobile charger at friend's house. Other than that, there were plenty of superchargers and used the...

Replace rear view mirror with Gentex Homelink Autodimming one?

MyQ is the one with a subscription. I have the homelink installed - one time cost for the parts and labor; mobile tech came out and installed it. He programmed it as well. I have a Chamberlain garage door opener; I've never paid another cent.
  40. G

Used LR or new LFP RWD?

LFP has drawbacks too - I would hesitate to call it "better" and really it's down to your $$ and what not. That said, always buy as much range as you can; you'll never regret that.

    Tesla Vision / Camera operation

The onscreen depictions are there only for your comfort to show that "yes..the cameras are on". It is not meant to be an accurate picture of what's going on. The camera sees a whole lot more (Greentheonly has done some videos on this - is an example).

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

    Charging Question

You can also set your charge level with a departure time. Say you set your charge level to 80% with a departure time of 7:00 am. It will just sit there all night long and figure out when to start charging such that it will be at 80% when 7:00 am rolls around. From the user manual: Use...

In car camera. Should I cancel my Tesla order?

In car camera never leaves the car. Tesla has said many times they do not monitor it nor does the car transmit it. However they can pull external camera footage since they use that to train the neural net. You may have heard about the kerfluffle and employees seeing footage. To be clear, that...

    Charging questions

    1. That's roughly true. You can easily tell the difference between AC and DC charging stations - the DC ones are bigger and have much thicker cables. 2. Not true - as your charge level increases, it takes more and more time to add the electrons. The last few % of your battery (going from say 95%...

Scheduled software update postpones scheduled charge time

If I remember correctly, the car won't charge while it updates. It seems that threw off your charging schedule but now that it's done, everything should go back to normal. From the user manual: Install phase: During the install phase, you cannot drive. If plugged in, your vehicle will stop...
