MYP Stock Suspension - Houston Area - Make Me An Offer

I've got the stock suspension from my 2022 MYP after I put the MPP coilovers on. This is pre-"comfort suspension." They've got something like 2500 miles on them. I'm just north of Houston, I really don't want to ship but I'll drive a bit. Make me an offer. Want them gone. They'll go in the...

MYP 21” Uberturbines with Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s, Houston, $2500

LOL! Yea, that's probably a bit far for a meetup in the middle. Best of luck!

MYP 21” Uberturbines with Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s, Houston, $2500

Not terribly interested, honestly. But I don’t mind driving a day or so and meeting up if you’re anywhere nearby.

MYP 21” Uberturbines with Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s, Houston, $2500

And another bump for everyone who is getting their tax-rebate-mobiles! And those that were able to get the December discount too. Good for you! Price lowered just a bit to $2300.

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Notes on MPP Comfort OK, after a few weeks with the MPP Comfort Coilovers, here are my impressions. It’s important to note that I’ve got a 2022 MYP that was pre- “comfort suspension,” and before I got the coilovers I got some 19” wheels with some extra rubber for sidewall protection from...

    Phantom Braking Still a Problem?

I voted "No, software fixed it" because that's closer to my experience than "Yes, but I still use it." I very occasionally get phantom braking that I'm not expecting. There are plenty of places that a new Tesla driver will be surprised by - pedestrians, speed limit changes, and cresting some...

Has anyone used a Tire of a different size on their Tesla Model Y

Here's my experience, just yesterday, with a curb and some wider tires: Caught the curb, no rash. Ugh.

Vendor Show Off Your Aftermarket Model Y Wheels

So...if you're thinking about getting some larger tires to protect from curb rash, here's why you do it. I'm embarrassed that I got the curb; I was momentarily distracted parking next to a curb and heard some squeaking. Oh, no! I'm better than this - really! Just takes a second... (FYI, I...

    Cargo Cover

Yea, I'm quoting myself but I want to add to what I said regarding the ModelYShelf.2 . Here's a way to attach the strings to the back of the shelf in a fairly quick and easy way to remove them without adding rattles. This, combined with the hooks in the front means I can remove the shelf in a...

Rattle from trunk near the subwoofer

I had some rattling from the trim pieces for the trunk bumpers. I've currently got some sponge jammed in there, if I can ever remember to buy some weatherstripping I'm going to put something more permanent in.

Ohlins coilover vs. MPP Comfort Coilover comparison

Good luck! I have read so very much on this. I could swear I saw a head-to-head, but it's lost in the dust of my mind. I do recall that Ohlins "should be" better than the MPPs, it's a more premium brand. Your mileage may vary... You might want to try playing with some slightly firmer...

Is Tesla Y better than other all electric SUVs?

Well...mostly. Sort of. Dealerships are tacking on just brazen markups and calling it "market adjustment." Read that as: we're going to pocket some more of your money because we can. It'll depend on the car, the market, and the dealership. You really need to call around and do some shopping...

Tesla safety score dictates driving time

I reacted before the car. Turns out with the adrenaline it’s easy to overpower the steering!

    Cabin Area

I won't go looking but I'll bet the rear seats are moved back to get that extra legroom, pushing the rear seat into the rear wheel wells. It's way, way more comfortable back there than in a M3.

Tesla safety score dictates driving time

I'm not an insurance expert - but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express earlier this year. So, grains of salt please: I'd hazard that with all of the drunk and tired folks out on the roads in the hours we're talking about, the incidents/accidents per mile driven are *way* higher than they are...

Is Tesla Y better than other all electric SUVs?

Run, don't walk, away from the ID.4. It's *still* not ready for prime-time. A little over a year ago I had one for 3-4 months; I disliked it so much that I sold it and got a Model 3 - a car that I had been actively avoiding. The Model 3 is so, so much better than the ID.4 I can't begin to...

    Tesla wireless charger sux!!!!!

This would be an alternative to my preferred MagBak. In fact, I've got one of those right behind my desk in a box.
  19. HSATD

    Tesla wireless charger sux!!!!!

This *is* the problem. With the coils so far from each other they create heat rather than charge (well, they'd create heat anyway but it's much more this way). As the phone gets hotter it'll first dim the screen, then stop charging. Smart device!

    Pedestrian warning system not working

At least on the MY the reverse sound is much louder and noticeable than the forward sound. The forward sound is a kind of "whoosh" sound. It's...not too bad. But yes, you should hear something unless you've disabled it somehow.

Ordered these Wednesday at noon, delivered Friday at noon. Champing at the bit to get them installed. Will report!

    Tesla wireless charger sux!!!!!

The large camera bumps on recent phones mean the coils are too far apart for any of these phones to charge laying flat like that. If you've got an iPhone, hands down the best charger out there right now is the Magbak. Works great, great materials, looks like it belongs in the car. It's also not...

TACC Avoidance Braking is aggressive and very early

Yea, this is frustrating. Have you had a bike rider, pedestrian or police with flashing lights on the shoulder yet? Same reaction. I have a feeling some of this will be driven by lawsuits. It sucks, but when Tesla gets sued for driver stupidity we all pay. Over time you'll learn what the...

How much do I save in fuel costs over ICE? A lot, but at times it really depends....

Lordy. New car prices are ridiculous. I think most of that is driven by the ridiculous markups on cars as we all went through Covid. My neighbors paid $5K over sticker price for a Hyundai Elantra, a car that would have never sold for more than $1000-500 under sticker price just a few years ago...

Fixed my squeaky seat (issue I haven't seen on the forums)

OMG, I've been listening to that da** squeak for weeks now. For whatever reason, I couldn't find this thread but I knew I had seen something like it. Finally found a video on how to remove the seat back, found the loose grommet and reinstalled it a few minutes ago. Took pics so I could...

Suggestion to park into tight garage?

Wow, that's narrow. I wouldn't trust auto summon, especially after the ultrasonic sensors get deprecated and turned off. If there's enough room, I find that backing in allows me to get tighter into the passenger side using the mirrors and cameras; having the steering be on the "rear"...

Front Passenger Air Vent - Can you turn it off?

After all of this discussion, I'll add that I not only want to be able to turn the passenger vent off on request - I'd like a way to *always* have it on unless I turn it off. The cabin is so much more comfortable if I've got air coming from that side of the car, even if I'm by myself, and any...

Love to see cruise control option

Try recalibrating the cameras. While the calibration is in progress, try to not be on freeways, stick with surface roads. If you can get some partially shadowed road so much the better. This worked for me on my M3. It didn’t make it perfect, but it really helped. Over time it’s gotten even...

Auto wipers swipe @ every streetlight...Cannot use Autopilot at night

Ugh. You nailed it with the spotless glass. I'm wondering if there’s a speck of dust or something on the camera lens itself? Even a small chip on the lens? This could get to be a PIA quickly, but you might be able to see the lens clearly enough through the windshield. This doesn’t sound like...

Is this why Model Y feels different from Model 3?

I made the same move! It's so subjective, and it doesn't help that the consistency between cars is less than what you might expect. I'm being kind there. Interestingly, my driver's seat feels almost exactly the same between the two; I'm told the passenger seat in the MYP is much nicer. As far...

    Cargo Cover

These are all good points. The support hooks have been redesigned. They definitely stick out a bit and are worth watching out for if you carry large stuff. They're also one of my potential rattle points; I'm still working on that. In the photos you can see where I've stuck a bit of kitchen...

    Washing The Tesla Model Y

So much out there on how to wash a car. It's...a car. I do agree with much of the comments above and I do try to avoid mechanical car washes if at all possible. If I must use one, I don't ever use the gas station un-attended versions. I've had pretty good luck with some of the attended ones on...

Nope. VIN F545698 But I found this, and so far I like it better than the Tesla version which I've seen. I'm still working on finishing up the install and working out bugs to my satisfaction but it's pretty dang nice. Tesla ModelYShelf.2 Please forgive the atrocious garage.

iPhones overheat when using console wireless charger on my Model Y

The ginormous camera bump combined with the charging rings being a bit too low in the car is putting the coils just a *bit* too far away from each other and unaligned...creating heat. This is, IMHO, an Apple problem and not a Tesla problem. Also, I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch so...

    Software release schedule question

I’m on the same as OP about a month into owning the car. Tesla seems to use “new car delivery” software builds; they’re reliable and don’t have new, untested stuff. Also, Tesla seems to like keeping new cars on that build until a pretty solid release comes along. If you think about it, this...

    Stuck on 2022.28.2

As OxBrew says above, it looks like something is broken on the .36.x release. They’re up to .6 now as of a couple of days ago with no widespread release. Clearly they’re working on something, the releases aren’t too far apart. I'm not sure if it was mentioned here or elsewhere, but heading over...

How much do I save in fuel costs over ICE? A lot, but at times it really depends....

If you’re using Superchargers, it’s going to be variable and likely similar to gas. If you’re charging at home, it’ll also be variable but likely cheaper than the average gas car at 30MPG. In my area I’m paying $.135/kw and I’m far ahead on costs for gas/power over the average car. My last gas...

    Does Tesla make people impatient?

My first month or so with my M3LR the car brought out the absolute worst in me as a driver, and I'm not proud of it. Instant torque is just so...instant, even in Standard mode. Why can't ICE cars just keep up? 🤬 I'm happy to say that after that first month or so I've moderated down to my usual...

Performance 21’ rims or 19’ Geminis..Are the 21’ worth the sleek look?

The 21s with the MYP tires will sharpen your handling substantially but obviously not all the way to an MYP. If you don’t want that, then they’re not for you. I can’t say for sure but I’m reasonably confident that the 21s on a MYLR would be a nice compromise. The looks are entirely subjective...

Rough Ride MYP with Pirelli tires vs ID4 AWD

With just under 500 miles on the car, and about 300 miles on the TSTs with 275/45/19 (better curb protection) tires from T-Sportline, I can begin to feel the suspension relax a bit and I'm pretty darn pleased. For Pangitm0, it's not going to get you to ID.4 but it's lightyears ahead of where...

iPhone 12 Pro Max and charging

I can't for the life of me figure out how this installs/looks in the car. Or...maybe because I've got a 2022 MY. Has anyone used this for a 2022? Also, I've got a MagBak mount that works perfectly, and as a bonus it holds the phone where you can actually see the dang thing. Yea, it's pricy but...

Autowipers now mandatory when cruise is on!
