Autopilot randomly changes set speed on DC I66 Express Lanes

Emphasis added. Yes, I see it react occasionally to the speed limit signs in the regular lanes, but it doesn't change the set speed in response (because I don't have the car set to "Speed Limit", I have it set to "Current Speed"). I had it set to "Speed Limit" when we first got it in December...

Autopilot randomly changes set speed on DC I66 Express Lanes

Good evening Tesla Motors Club members and lurkers. 2023 Tesla Model 3, Long Range, 2023.20.7, no FSD. Car goes stupid, consistently, driving on I66 Express lanes outside the Beltway in the DC area. We occasionally drive I66 in the greater DC metro area, from the Beltway out to Dulles and...

    HPWC Energy Usage?

So obviously I haven't posted in a bit but I wanted to provide potentially a "final update". I've charged three times since the above and my Gen 3 wall charger has not done the session_wh addition since 17 MAR. In that time I did reach out to Tesla about "hey I think there's a bug in the charger...

    HPWC Energy Usage?

Ok so yesterday I got the random add again. It duplicated my charging from Wednesday. Wednesday my charge (increase) on lifetime energy_wh was 48253, on vitals session_wh was 48226.5. When I checked the lifetime energy_wh yesterday it had gone up again, and the delta was 48227 (it rounds up to...

What did you sell/trade for your 3?

Technically nothing. I sold our Mazda Miata to CarMax and used the proceeds to pay off our Mazda CX-5. Then we leased the Model 3 as a replacement for the Miata, which was my daily. It was no longer practical for our use case and despite the "fun" it's just not a great commuter car. Do I miss...

    HPWC Energy Usage?

Oh oh oh!! I figured something out I figured something out I am so pleased with myself. To be clear, I know the WHAT. I don't know the WHY. Though as I've already said I think the why is "because a software bug". So check it out. I mentioned in my last post that there was an odd discrepancy...

    HPWC Energy Usage?

No weirdness overnight last night. If it's consistent it might be tonight, and then not again for a few days. Will be interesting to see if it repeats, and/or if it's the same amounts.

    HPWC Energy Usage?

Why use an app when you can just get it directly from the charger? Still, none of the API data gives an indication of how much power the charger itself is using.
  10. C

    HPWC Energy Usage?

I have an electronic meter. But, not a smart (connected) meter. So it's even easier than that. Last night added 42.7 kWh, my highest charge ever. Time delta was 13,153 s or 219.22 minutes, which lines up within 1% of expectation at 11.5 kWh charging rate. Session charge data says 42,679.102...
  11. C

    HPWC Energy Usage?

Well, I didn't do the disconnect at the breaker thing yet but I have been monitoring the usage all week. I charged Sunday night into Monday morning and my lifetime energy_wh went from 860,164 to 886,681, 26.5 kWh, matching the car very closely, and more importantly, the charge time. The...
  12. C

    HPWC Energy Usage?

Agreed. I don't think it used that power though. I think it's a bugged data field. And here's another data point I hadn't considered - it has in the lifetime stats a "charging_time_s" which seems clear to be interpreted as number of seconds actively charging. We know the Model 3 Long Range and...

Advice on charger location in garage

How often do you use the shop vac? You're going to use the charger maybe a couple times a week (or you might be one of those plug the car in every night type of folks). Are you at the beach / dealing with sand in floormats everywhere multiple times a week? I get the problem with sand, it's...
  14. C

    HPWC Energy Usage?

You can question it, but that doesn't change that yes, I looked at the numbers yesterday to write my earlier post, and I looked at the numbers today to write my immediate prior post, and there was a massive delta between them, and I didn't even have our car plugged in. I'm going to be checking...
  15. C

    HPWC Energy Usage?

Hey just for anyone checking back I can definitively say the Wall Connector Lifetime status "energy_wh" does not represent only charging output. Why do I say this? Because, I didn't charge my vehicle overnight, I didn't even plug it in, but the Wall Connector has reported a growth in the...

    HPWC Energy Usage?

My WC data says I have averaged just over 37 kWh per charging session in 22 charging sessions (assuming that’s what contactor closures represents as you said). The problem with this is I’ve only charged as much or more than 37 kWh three out of 22 sessions. The highest only being 41. My sessions...
  17. C

    HPWC Energy Usage?

I'd like to pull the thread here too as well. Post #2 states (obviously) the Tesla only knows how much power it has received / used, not how much power the Wall Connector has delivered. What that post fails to notice though is that the difference isn't 5 or 10% in the Wall Connector API, it's...

Will the new CCS enabled superchargers have long cables?

Our two car garage has two single doors separated by a pillar. This is common here for multi-car setups (we see three and four car setups this way as well, multiple single width garage doors). In our house we mounted the Tesla wall charger on the pillar; power was run from our fuse box on our...

    In-car Purchasing Payment Source

I'm not really sure where on the forum to ask this question but it's user interface related so I'm asking it here. Mods, feel free to move I guess. We got our Model 3 in December and when we were getting close to expiration of the Premium Connectivity trial I subscribed for a year using the...

    New Tesla owner with questions

It’s honestly not junk, and the link you have is not for the charger OP is referencing. Lectron make a Level 1 only charger that is advertised as 16A but only pulls 12A as it should. The Tesla will also not pull more than 12A from it by default. I have one and have used it these last few weeks...

New Model 3 wanna be owner - need tips before ordering

We got our LR on the 10th; our first EV. We have no high power outlets in our garage so have been using 120V outlet @ 12A to charge. Hasn’t been an issue at all; however, tomorrow we’re getting our Wall Connector installed on a new 60A circuit. We did run the battery down to 23% once...

    Uncomfortable driver seat

Are these both new vehicles? Kinda curious what your waist size is honestly because I'm a big guy and I have absolutely no issues. I mean I came out of a Miata with Recaro seats for crying out loud... Also I confirmed that the 3 and the Y seats have the same part number in Tesla's parts...

Upgraded iPhone and traded in the phone and forgot to take key card with me

At the bottom of page 10 of the Model 3 Owner’s Manual, next to a “caution” symbol (yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it), it states: CAUTION: Always carry your key card with you in your purse or wallet to use as a backup in case your authenticated phone has a dead battery, or is...

Can IFTTT be synced to Tesla to start charging automatically when electric prices go below a certain threshold?

Seems to me you’d be better off finding some way to turn on/off your charger than the Tesla. Basically, set the Tesla to charge any time it’s plugged in, and then have an IFTTT controlled charger. There exist wall outlets that can work this way but I don’t know about higher power stuff.

2023 model 3 RWD (November delivery) am i eligible for tax rebate/credit?

You know, it’s funny. Some folks see a price change and think “I got screwed!” Other folks think, “Dang, that’s awesome, should I get another one?!” You were satisfied with the price enough at the time to make the purchase/lease, what changed? The car didn’t change. What confuses me though is...

Tesla, Maxpider, Weathertech Floormats for 2023 Model 3

Sorry, I guess I didn't explain very well the sound thing. The 3DMP mats dampen the sound of feet on the mats themselves due to their construction with the foam. Not sound from the outside of the vehicle. The Weathertech/Tesla mats are very tap tap tappy, whereas the other mats because of the...

    Tesla SSD coming February 2023

If you look at the pictures the SSD mounts directly to the top of the glovebox; it's probably got a flip-out USB-A (male) connector on it. The cable then interfaces with the drive to allow you to download data to a laptop or desktop that only has USB-C ports (otherwise you could just use the...

Tesla, Maxpider, Weathertech Floormats for 2023 Model 3

I know all about house labeled products and subcontracted item,s. I don't have any issue with it. I do have an issue with WeatherTech's materials; 3D MaxPider mats dampen sound better, and sound is an issue for me. I didn't like their pricing compared to OE; since Tesla's parts are pretty well...

New battery pack on a three week old car

@jpd1004 Our 2019 Mazda CX-5 developed a strange noise six months in with about 7,000 miles, after a cross-country move. We took it in for service and it turns out the transmission was failing. I got a loaner; the transmission was replaced entirely. Little different situation, wasn't a few weeks...

Tesla, Maxpider, Weathertech Floormats for 2023 Model 3

Received the Tesla full set of mats today. Disappointed to see they’re just WeatherTechs stamped with a Tesla logo (how do I know - stickers on mats and boxes listing WeatherTech as the supplier). Also it’s cold and they’re all rolled up so have to rest with weights on them for a while before I...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

No, I’m not betting anything about Tesla. I’m betting on advancements in EV technologies by the time I *need* another vehicle, in particular solid state batteries. I’m also betting that when I need a next vehicle I’ll be back to not needing two, as we do right now. I’m also betting that the up...

    Wall Connector Price Reduction

So the Tesla wall connector has been reduced from $400 to $350. I ordered a wall connector with my vehicle that I picked up last weekend, but still haven’t received the wall connector. Tesla, Maxpider, Weathertech Floormats for 2023 Model 3

There is an Amazon review on the 3D Maxpider mats from a claimed 2023 owner saying they fit great. I'm trying to figure this out too. I've used the 3D Maxpider mats in many vehicles and they've always been great; I am a weirdo though and like everything to match; the fact that their various...

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

Picked up our Long Range lease today; had two minor issues: two scratches, and a weird fitment issue on an interior panel. Scratches, one on the driver rear door, one on the driver rear quarter. Rear quarter requires a visit to the paint shop, they're taking care of it. Driver rear door trim...
