Model Y Trailer Hitch Anti-Corrosion Washers?

Find a magnet around your house. If 1 side sticks to the magnet and the other doesn't, then it needs a washer between them. Otherwise, steel and aluminum will bond together and you'll never be able to get them apart.

    Audio system upgrade

The Tesla was the first car I've owned where I though the factory audio system was great. I, like most others, don't feel the need to upgrade it for the first time in my life. I've upgraded all my previous vehicle with amps, sub and dsp. If you're into more hip hop music though, it could use...

Used MY buying advice - undercarriage condition

Brand Model Y Long Range is $40,500 after the tax credit but with better financing rate than used. The car would need to be like $30k to make it worth my while. If it's between $35-40k, then it's not worth it given the finance rate.

No, it slides right in the same way. As long as you keep a small flathead screwdriver in the car, it's easy on or off both ways. Here's the slot from the video:

Campground Camping, Sleeping in MY Supply List

It's in the video. Yes, I just removed mine a few days ago to place my spare tire there. All you need is a pushpin or a small flathead screwdriver. There's a little slot on the side of the headrest opposite of the pushbutton. Push your screwdriver in the slot, push the button on the other...

    Martian Wheel MW03 which Lugnuts?

I just bought some MW03 Martian Wheels for my Model Y. I was looking at the Bossnos lugnuts and they have them in 19mm and 21mm. Is there an advantange or disadvantage to either, are they bot compatible with my wheels? It's it just a matter of style...

Towing Rpod 171 with Model Y - Need Guidance on Equipment and Installation

Those style of connectors aren't designed for automotive use, and they work best with single solid strand wire or super thick guage wire found in homes. Automotive wiring strands are thin and more flexible than household wires. Each strand is much much thinner. I personally would never use...

Then it's likely your trailer's wiring. How old is your trailer?? Did you check it for bad grounds or corroded connectors? Also, what type of connectors did you use to wire it? I soldered and heat shrinked my Prodigy ID. If you use butt splices or wire taps, it's possible your connection...

Does it not detect the trailer?? If your trailer has LED lights, then you may need to add a LOAD RESISTOR to simulate a trailer brake coil. https://www.redarcelectronics.com/us/resources/brake-controllers-faqs/common-towpro-support-questions/

0.9 is that your losing connection to your battery ground. n.c. is lowing connection with your trailer or trailer brake ground. I would check your wiring job and make sure everything is connected properly. Here's the manual: https://www.tekonsha.com/product-assets/install/N90160.pdf

MY seen pulling a ~27ft Airstream yesterday - please don't

Do you have any more specifics on what didn't work, I'm also considering the Tokensha Prodigy ID and Curt Spectrum 51170?
  16. T

    Brake controller recommendation

Newer Tesla's with a 16v battery do not have the aux-out power on the 7 pin connector. I'm guessing the curt echo likely needs it for power.
  17. T

    Tow hitch

When they switched to 16v, Tesla removed the AUX output on the trailer hitch connector. So you can't charge the battery on your trailer for things like the breakaway controller or refrigerator or electronic anti-sway controller on the trailer.

Model Y AWD - request for Cargo Box/Hitch suggestions

The middle option is with a FIXED frame, is $779 with the box as quoted before. $929 for the swingaway frame with box. The box by itself is $629. There are 2 box sizes, 1 is taller than the other. The X-rack large bag is smaller than either box, so I chose the standard box which weighs...

    Model Y Tool Kit Suggestions

I'm not suggesting you jump an ice car with your EV. I'm suggesting you need jumper cables to charge your low voltage battery from an ICE car, so it can start your computers and turn on the dc/dc converter to charge from the traction battery, as well as turn on the computer to allow the...

Off roading with rear diffs makes a huge difference

    Model Y Tool Kit Suggestions

Battery quality has gotten far worse over the years. In my line of work, I've seen a massive amount of warrantied battery jump in the last 10 years. Especially since we no longer have an lead smelters in the country, alot of the lead is recycled probably not as pure is my guess. I left my...

Model Y AWD - request for Cargo Box/Hitch suggestions

If you can still find it, you can buy a Thule Combi. It only weighs 55lbs and the self supported tongue weight on a Model Y is 160lbs. So you can load 105 lbs of cargo into it. That's like 2-3 full size suitcases worth of stuff for road trips. You can also buy a Stowaway2 which has a...

Never listen to RV dealers, they have self serving interests, they don't care if you're safe. The problem with the R-Pod 171 is the tonuge weight being 325lbs empty and dry. Most of those weights are also typically published without options on their website. If you fill the propane tanks...

I'm on my second 3 week business trip out of country. Last time, all I had to do was turn off Sentry mode and cabin overheat protection. The car lasts a very long time in sleep mode. On my first 3 week trip, I lost maybe 3-4% battery percent. I supercharged right before I parked it because I...

I personally wouldn't own an EV without a home charger. Supercharging all your trips will hurt your battery life expectancy, and it's not cheaper to supercharge than gasoline.

I've had the iPhone 15 Pro Max since it came out and and my Model Y since mid last year. I don't have any issues other than the first time it tried to sync. It was trying to sync all my contacts and things like that over bluetooth which ate up all the bluetooth bandwidth. I had to wait a...

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

Hopefully this should not have been a surprise when purchasing your Y. If you watch any of the Investor day speeches or Battery day speeches, lowering the price of Tesla's has been a top priority since before the Model S launched. It's been a stated goal to bring EV's into mass adoption and...

Replacing the headrest in the model 3/S-Maybe this helps someone

    Regen Braking low/standard

It wasn't there 2 weeks ago when it snowed. I can guaruntee you that much. But I can check for software updates when I get home tonight. This would save me from having to buy the S3XY buttons commander. I have a Model Y LR. Unless you're talking about only the newer Model 3 Highland.

Debating the switch to 18 inch wheels from the 20 inch inductions

The only other consideration is towing, if you want the full 3500lbs tow rating, you need to use the 19" model Y rims and tires. Even the upgraded 20's are capable of towing the full 3500lbs. If you don't tow, then there's no need to worry about it. I believe the 18's are 8.5" wide, unlike...

Debating the switch to 18 inch wheels from the 20 inch inductions

I'm swapping to Tsportline 18's, Eagle tires are garbage in the snow. I'll probably start with the Michilin All Season 4's. The main reason I'm going with Tsportline are that the wheels are properly machined for the Tesla hub, no need for any center bore adapters. Most aftermarket rims are...

    Regen Braking to low button?

I was driving around just fine, didn't feel unsafe until the regen kicks the back end out. I'm downsizing this year to 18" tires with better all-seasons. But Tesla should bring back the limited regen button. I had an adequate amount of traction with this tires otherwise, it's only the regen...

My MY LR with the 20" wheels come with Eagle F1 tires which are not that good in the winter. I modulate the release of the GO pedal very well under normal driving to maximize regen but still be comfortable. However, this past week in the snow, the regen with these tires is down right scary...

$80k for Dual Motor is a bit much. The F-150 Lightning FLASH Extended Range is $72k. They also added a heat pump finally. At that price, the Cybertruck is a hard sell for me.
