Why trade up from a 2021 MY? Curious why I see so many Tesla owners trading in a Tesla for another one.

I'm on the fence right now... have an order for NJ and they may have screwed by not applying for the state $2000 credit back in January.. so NJ out of money as of April 18 but those who ordered in the 2 weeks before that can have paperwork submitted by Tesla and will get the credit... tesla...

Considering not accepting the car in the next week when notified if charge up incentive not applied. Can always lose the 250 deposit and order again for delivery in July when restarts.. and price is headed in one direction right now.

The treasury said they will update requirements in March. No mention if Mar 1 or Mar 31. And maybe they're late. Can always cancel delivery if rules change so I would order away - only $250 deposit to lose

Maybe Georgia is different.. but if you bought it for 50K the sales tax is on 50K; the private party who bought for 10K also pays sales tax on 10K. That's how it works in NJ (although here they'd give you 5k cash and ask you to say sold for 5k cashiers check - LOL)

Also - with Rav4 Prime I'd need to charge every night to get the free battery on 40 miles... with Tesla I won't - I avg 30-40m miles a day consistently so 110V / 20A gets me plenty a few nights a week No comparison for me mostly due to gouging and incentives, more than the direct comparison

BUT in NJ where I am - example Rav4 Prime: MSRP $48K, Dealer adjustment (aka Gouge amt) $5K = 53K; add 7% sales tax $3.5K, ignore delivery & reg fees as same as Tesla = $56.5K for the model I'd compare to Model Y.... WHEREAS: Model Y $53.5K, less 7.5K Credit (if get) = $46K, less $2K NJ...

Same here - ordered 01/24 and nothing about a VIN; still the default Feb/Mar. I will cancel if it takes too long and miss 1/2 the credit. No rush to buy as the car market is falling this year. Price will stay below 55K so they get the partial credit and some state credits so no rush.

Batteries need to made from coal to get the full credit...

Re cancel - May switch to a model 3 base for wife as its < $45,000 so gets a $4,000 additional discount in NJ...

MYLR Ordered Jan 25th, White, black seats etc.. all standard. Still Feb-Mar. Question - how late can you wait to cancel? If they push it back to late Mar - April could I wait to see if Tax credit changes and then cancel?
