Has anyone noticed rear dual pane windows? (US)

I assume when the parts start rolling in, us legacy MY owners can easily retrofit the rear double pane glass in. I'd pay $500 for that. of course i'd need to re-tint.. but easy to do when the glass is out. (I tinted my windows perfectly DIY w/ ceramic tint) the rear hatch glass is a...

2022 MYP Steering rack Failure. Tesla DENYING warranty coverage due to aftermarket wheels 20x10 with 275 40 20 set up

outside of a controlled test environment, that doesn't mean much. that's off topic anyway. lets stay on topic though. big beefy tires/wheels will indeed causes additional stresses on the steering rack. it's not worth it. especially on a car with expensive parts. i've rebuilt several ///BMW...

2022 MYP Steering rack Failure. Tesla DENYING warranty coverage due to aftermarket wheels 20x10 with 275 40 20 set up

I ran the numbers in a calculator, it seems your 275 tires have a significantly larger contact patch vs the stock 255 tires.

2022 MYP Steering rack Failure. Tesla DENYING warranty coverage due to aftermarket wheels 20x10 with 275 40 20 set up

also don't be surprised if they void the rest of the suspension warranty. extra angles/loads/lever actions due to different offsets, etc are a thing and will cause extra stress.

2022 MYP Steering rack Failure. Tesla DENYING warranty coverage due to aftermarket wheels 20x10 with 275 40 20 set up

They're also designed with the total vehicle envelope in mind, including the use of engineering analysis using proprietary data only Tesla has. In other words, the aftermarket can create some kid stuff/kid wheels, but they don't have access to Tesla's proprietary internal data which would be...

2022 MYP Steering rack Failure. Tesla DENYING warranty coverage due to aftermarket wheels 20x10 with 275 40 20 set up

I think it just has to be reasonable. they don't need to have an engineering analysis. i think it's reasonable to conclude wider/heavier wheels and tires will cause added stress.

Turn signal - single vs double press (multiple lane changes?)

Is it just me or given the new auto-turn signal update, there's no difference between single press and double press of the turn signal stalk? Changing multiple lanes can be frustrating when your turn signal cancels and you have to take your concentration off changing lanes to press it again. I...

2022 MYP Steering rack Failure. Tesla DENYING warranty coverage due to aftermarket wheels 20x10 with 275 40 20 set up

I can see that as different weights/offsets can put various loads/torque/strain on the wheels engineering didn't design for. Besides OE wheels are often precisely engineered and design as a total crash package as well. there's little to no reason to go aftermarket when it comes to wheels. Tesla...

    18”? 19”? 20”? 21”? MYP decision

I live in an area with good roads so maybe that's why. I would never ever EVER live with or run Geminis. The small benefit to ride comfort would not be worth it. Conversely, the performance would not be worth it to me due to the thin staggered tires (cost) so therefore the inductions strike an...

    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

As someone who used to bro-slam / bro-lower my cars, I now appreciate and find lifted cars (including Model Y) very appealing. Especially now that I'm older. It's how cars should be. It's proper and lovely. Nice lifted Ys, guys. Keep em coming.

    18”? 19”? 20”? 21”? MYP decision

I'm not just saying it cause I have it by but by FAR the 20" inductions are the absolute best wheel for the Model Y and frankly the best wheel I've ever used, owned, touched, or experienced. And I come from a long line of nice cars, new cars, ///M Cars, etc (i'm not the type that jumped from a...

Paint problems - do these bother you?

    1) the corner of the bumper got rubbed against something shortly after paint. likely during maneuvering during install. 2) definite clear coat bubbling. Both would bug me and both need to be replaced. 20+ years insurance estimating here.

2023 Model Y rattles in the back

My 23 YLR Fremont has a sharp metallic rattle over medium bumps. most pronounced at right center/right rear. the noise seems to change from center to right making me think something is rolling around. It sounds as if a bolt is bouncing around inside the lift gateor perhaps a cable is loose and...
