How are your 2024 Fremont built Ys so far in terms of interior and external quality?

I have a Fremont built 2023 with which I’m very happy.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

That will never happen by the end of August 2024…I assume you are joking, right?

They became eligible for Federal subsidies by opening up access. It was Tesla’s choice to do so.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

No, they will double down and explain why this was a smart move. Here’s what one fan boy (my brother) told me: “Elon only sees EV’s as being 20% of the business long term and looks like his plan is to use them to fund his AI/autonomous/robot business. So why spend a bunch of money on charging...

Thoughts on the Supercharger team reduction from a contractor (link)

That was certainly the path we appeared to be on…but I wonder if some car companies are reconsidering.

Yes! And I agree the root of the root of the problem is hubris (first for making the mistake and then for not admitting the mistake and fixing it).

I never said it was free. I said his pay doesn’t impact their revenue stream (or profits). As such, no one is incented more than he to maximize shareholder value (which makes some of his decisions even more bizarre) Yes, very well stated.

Free Trial FSD, What DoYou Think About It?

I still have two more weeks…but I’ve turned off FSD and disabled NoAP as well. I’ll miss Auto Lane change…but it’s not worth $99/month.

    Auto Wipers

You can’t eliminate the hardware required for a function and then declare when that function no longer works it’s a software problem. The root of this problem is that the correct hardware was eliminated.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Every tech company (including my own which laid off 10% just a few months ago including 5 pretty good friends) is laying off 1000s of employees. What Tesla did here is different; they eliminated an entire functional org. They didn’t just cut the fat…they sliced off quite a bit of muscle and bone...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Don’t be obtuse: most people can’t get afford to live on a deferred income stream that may not materialize and if it does is years away; we have mortgages and car payments we need to make now. But if you look at the (now rescinded) pay package Elon had, it was all stock grants based on achieving...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

I get quite a bit of my pay this way too. I am granted shares of the company that mature and vest over time. As the company goes up in value so does my comp (as well as the inverse). This is pretty standard for Silicon Valley. The comp still counts against the balance sheet but it’s for the...

I think most of that pay package was equity based so doesn’t really impact the revenue stream.

I could not agree with you more (and I’m also middle aged, balding). This vehicle is for people who are insecure in real life and try to overcompensate for that with their car…

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

For the people that are holding out, which aspect of the refresh seems that critical to you? Or is it that you hate not having the most recent? Personally, I’d be reluctant to buy an early refresh model. I’d much rather have the last iteration of the previous version.

Autopark parking forward instead of backward?

AutoPark, for me anyway, is just a fun novelty. I don’t use it much unless my kids want to see the car park itself.

Is this totaled? 2019 Tesla Model 3

In your second pic, the gap between the drivers side rear quarter panel and the rear passenger door looks out of alignment; if that’s not how the car was before, I’d guess the impact caused a lot of damage.

2024 US model Y rwd battery type and size

Spot on: for $38k I got all the safety, utility, access to charging network that every Model Y gets. Since RWD’s battery is also above spec (10% for 2024 and 15% for 2023) and slightly more efficient than the LR (since it weighs 200 lbs less) I also got very good range for the money (around 290...

I actually think he’s (mostly) right. It’s certainly fair to say it’s not my priority. There are all sorts of data I want about a new car…0-60 just isn’t one of them (though 60-0 might be).

    Ordering Connectivity after trial?

If you aren’t streaming music you prob won’t miss anything…but if you are streaming music you need to tether your car through your phone which becomes either another step each time you use the car or you can set up an automation rule on your phone to enable hotspot when you open the car. USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

A long range battery pack that is software limited to 69-70 kWh. According to the post referenced below, it’s specifically the LG E3 M50F: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/7991296/

    Ordering Connectivity after trial?

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

I’d be interested in the Model 2 as long as it was a hatchback. If it’s a sedan, I’d prob stick with Model Y.

2024 US model Y rwd battery type and size

WRT acceleration, 0-60 mph is the same (spec) for 2023 and 2024 RWD Model Y (though that doesn’t mean you are wrong and they simply didn’t update the spec just like they didn’t update the spec for the range/battery pack that are in each vehicle).

USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

The 2024s have all been around 66kWh but the 2023s that have been measured have been between 69 - 70kWh. The 2024s have slightly less range, it seems.

USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

For the first time since I’ve had my 2023 RWD Y, I charged above 80% so I decided to use the energy screen to calculate my pack’s capacity. I was at 86% charge with a projected range of 261 miles averaging 228 Wh/mi. The math says my pack is 69.2 kWh which seems pretty much in line with what...

    Wall vs Mobile vs @#$%

    Based price in invoice

There’s really nothing about which to be worried. I’m also new to Tesla (though not to EVs) and every experience I’ve had so far is positive. Help regarding Model Y RWD vs AWD

There is no trick with the RWD Model 3 as it is *not* eligible for the Fed tax credit because it uses an LFP pack made in China.

Will the free FSD trial convince you to purchase FSD?

One other thing I noticed the other day, it doesn’t make room for motorcycles that are lane-splitting (which is legal here). Buying a used Tesla and I have concerns.

A friend of mine just leased a new Model 3. Since he has no option to buy the car at lease end, he has no incentive to treat the battery well. What percent of the used Tesla inventory are off lease cars? I’d guess it’s pretty high so I’d be less worried about what I can see and more worried...

    Model Y or 3 Highland?

I find the Model 3 is more fun to drive (sportier) but the Model Y offers more utility and has a lot more space in the rear seat (if that matters). I have a dog that I need to take with me so the Y, with its hatchback, just made more sense. If not for the dog, I’d prob have gotten whichever was...
