Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Happened to be out in the car on a mix of roads and streets last night and it was the first time I had seen the Matrix headlights doing their adaptive business. Have to say it was pretty impressive. You dont see anything on well lit roadways, but as soon as you get somewhere with less traffic...

Tiny paint scratch on my new model Y- can Tesla help with repair?

If it is a bit of paint that got scraped on to the the Tesla from say a white garage door, then try a little Methylated spirits on a cloth. Meths removes acrylic paint scrapes off cars very well. Amazing how many people have a bumper scrape from a fence post or low wall and end up with a...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Hardly the end of the world if you dont have them I reckon, but it's nice that they fitted the hardware, didn't advertise it and have (finally) switched the functionality on - for free. I like that Tesla does deliver things (with OTA updates) that effectively improve the car that you originally...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

I don't know when Tesla started installing Matrix Headlights as standard. It looks like it was quite hit and miss for a while - depending on which plant the vehicle came from - particularly in the States. I saw on one reddit thread "In december 2020, the first cars were delivered with these...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Well as mentioned previously, on the Model Y, 2024.8.7 (downloaded and installed on the 4th April in NZ) enabled the matrix headlights a week ago. Check under the menu for lights and see if there is now a menu option for adaptive headlights.

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Model Y got 2024.8.7 tonight. They have fixed the indicator display to sensible arrows rather than a small arrow inside a green circle. Adaptive headlights is also available (ie the matrix headlights). Not sure what else.

Passenger Red Reflector Loose - Is this the rattling noise I hear?

Put a bit of tape over it to stop it moving. If the noise stops, you have verified that it's the cause of your noise. It would seem it just pops out Model Y Front Door Reflector or light? Maybe it has a broken clip that lets it move about too much. You could try a little bit of doublesided tape...

    Supercharger - Tauranga

Have been down to Tauranga a couple of times since buying a Model Y - The area seems a bit 'light' on chargers. Will be very happy if they build some there.

    GYEON LeatherShield - Stay Away

For the record, you did start three threads: Gyeon leather shield - smoke while applying?! Gyeon Leather Shield Streaks in black seats?! GYEON LeatherShield - Stay Away I guess the issue with a 'leather' coating is that leather is probably ok with having a bit of a 'shine' on it and leather...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

I suspect that Tesla will never be able to 'fix' the wiper issue. Other manufacturers install a rain sensor that probably costs a couple of bucks at most and have reasonable sucess. Tesla has tries to use the whole camera thing with heaps of computer power and cant get it to work reliably. I...

Gyeon leather shield - smoke while applying?!

Well obviously Tesla do not use leather on their upholstery - so there is that. But on the brochure I found for that product you mention, it does say: You may apply the product on high quality artificial leather And I did find mention of it being ok on other surfaces: Works on both natural...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

I have a model Y that just got this update today. Haven't tested it yet. However, I was north of Auckland on Sunday and went through quite a few roadworks and it was working very well before that update. I was driving into town (towards the Harbour Bridge) and next to the motorway are the...

Generic non Tesla Key fob options???

You could also check if your phone is set into battery saver mode. It could possibly be putting the Tesla app to sleep which is why you need to wake your phone to get it to work.
  17. R

    Back hatch

I always use the button on the hatch. Opening anything by going into the app is slow... It works 90% of the time for me with my phone in my back pocket. The only exception being when my phone (Samsung/Android) sometimes goes into a deep sleep and needs the power button hitting to wake it up.

Looking for recommendations - Home Charger Cable Extensions

Probably not helpful and you probably know all this, but... The Tesla charger will take 10A at 230-240v (They sent out an update a few months back via the car that reprogrammed them taking them from 8A maximum to 10A) . If you have another brand, it is probably capped at 8A. At 8A I would think...

4 Wheel drive on Model Y?

It is spitting up some serious errors. Tesla acknowledged that these weren't normal when they asked you to do a reboot. If those errors keep occuring you need to take it in to the service centre - Its very dangerous. Just FYI - In some parts of the world it is not normal to swap Summer/Winter...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

If Sandy Munro is to be believed (and he normally is reliable), Tesla plan to start using Optimus robots on the production line this year to reduce costs and employees. If they pull that off it wont seem so silly. But Cybertruck? I don't see that as a great decision.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

I have always nudged the indicator the 'other' direction to cancel and found recently I got in the situation you described where I would have looked like I was either very indecisive or drunk! Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

That is what has been published on quite a few sites. Though the word was (from someone official at Tesla), that it will be rolled out to USS cars eventually. Tesla Owners, Let's Talk: Touchscreen vs. Physical Buttons - What's Your Take?

Well you dont have that to yourself unfortunately... But I understand that 'Roundabouts' are seldom used in the USA - Is that true? They are used frequently in most other countries. If you drive into a roundabout you have to initially indicate - thats fine, your steering wheel is straight when...

Tesla Owners, Let's Talk: Touchscreen vs. Physical Buttons - What's Your Take?

Indicator buttons fixed to a steering wheel that can be upside down when you need to use the indicators is insanely stupid - or even dangerous. They would have been better on the new Model 3 to have left the stalk alone or use an area on the touchscreen in my humble opinion. The only other...

Model y clicks and pops when I accelerate/slow - axels need lube. Tesla wants $500

Part replacement would be a warranty issue then.... I can't talk from any experience, but I gather when you raise a job Tesla creates a worksheet/invoice that often has charges - but Warranty claims get zeroed out. You need to talk to the service centre again.

    2023 Holiday Update

Would be happy with some sort of better 'surround' view when trying to park - I find it a curiously difficult car to park. The 'Blind spot' feature - the red edge of the pop-up picture is ok-ish. But as other people have noted elsewhere - Finding out someone is is your blindspot, only when...

Headlight crack leading to complete power loss

You aren't the only person that has had this issue. I saw this video recently: £1,300 to fix my Tesla after a stone destroyed the headlight. Eek! A painful lesson in random chance. I thought that my Tesla Model Y was turning into a lemon. First the lefthand headlight fails, then the car won't...

Door Lock on leaving erratic operation??

    MY will not automatically unlock

When it works, it can be in your back pocket - You are reaching for the door handle, so are very close to the car anyway. I have a Samsung/Android phone - I have found that turning the battery saver OFF, seems to make it a bit more reliable. (Not perfect though). When it deosnt work, usually...

What is this exactly on my brand new Model Y?

It really looks like something or someone has scuffed something against the car. Maybe some branches or shrubs. I am a little surprised that you only noticed it after 3 weeks - I looked at my car a lot when I first got it. It seems like maybe they werent there when you got the car? From the...

New to Tesla. Model Y unlocking itself on walkaway instead of locking??

Walking away with your phone normally makes it honk once and locks it. The mirrors fold in as well. After you have walked away and heard it honk - do the mirrors fold in? If so, its probably locking like it ought to. If you leave the phone away from your car - can you actually open the door?

Model Y - vehicle 4 weeks old already 2 tire punctures - warranty coverage?

I dont think you can blame the car manufacturer for punctures in this case - unless there are faults on the tires they fitted when new. Unfortunately, punctures are usually just bad luck. It's not someone trying to sabotage your tires is it? Do you have sentry mode on?

China releases upgraded Model Y (not Juniper)

Gemini Wheel - silver touch up paint?

Only car touch up pens - I checked them. I am thinking that maybe I need to get a pro to do something. Found this place in Auckland - https://www.wheelfixit.co.nz/ They come to you and do it at your home. Site says $150-$200 for painted.

Gemini Wheel - silver touch up paint?

Thanks @Audietron. Did you just do a touch-up, or respray the whole rim? i.e. is it good enough for just a partial touch up? Will also search up the rim guard stickers you mention. A quick google didnt show me anything - will search a little harder later.

Gemini Wheel - silver touch up paint?

Does anyone know of any NZ sources for a matching touch-up paint for the 19" Gemini Silver wheel rims? Wife claims 'stupid' road works at a round about caused her to clip something. Springs Junction NPD Charger

There are various parts of the country (including some parts of Auckland), that have issues with transmission line capacity at peak times. In these cases, the suggestion is that some sort of localised battery storage can be used to provide for the periods of higher demand. e.g. during off-peak...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

They wouldn't advertise a new model (well a refresh of an existing model) that is cheaper than what is currently available to buy. Sales would just stop while everyone waited for the newer model. They will be trying to clear any older stock (Look! Its cheaper than the new model!) and once its...

Tesla Mobile Charger - how many Amps from a normal wall outlet?

So I have had my Tesla model Y around 2 months now. We use the regular Tesla 'Mobile connector' - ie the charger that goes in a normal wall outlet. So I noticed when I first plugged it in, it would always show 8A in the mobile app - about 12km/h charge rate. The app has a little slider thing...

    Auckland service centers

I saw it mentioned, that while that area (south Auckland) might not be a big area for local 'sales', it was purposely, very near the airport. So if you live out of town, easy to fly in and pick up your new car. That made a lot of sense. Also - cheaper area for the very huge building and easy...

My experience on my 2023 MY RWD (Australia, Giga Shanghai)

@evbumbum is not doing anything wrong with leaving the car on the charger at regularly chaging to 100%. For the record, Australasian Model Y RWDs come with LFP batteries. The Manual says the following (the Capitals and Bolding are not mine - but are verbatim from the manual)...

New Model Y - regular black screen on wake up + phone call bug

I removed the Tesla USB stick from the glovebox a week ago - and so far no error. I was getting them every other day prior to that. A bit early to say that this has stopped the problem (until a fix is pushed out), but a week without issues is 'promising'.

Thanks @bhav 4th time for me since Monday. I reformatted the USB stick after the 3rd time. I removed the USB stick completely after the 4th time. (there were suggestions else where it may be related to the USB stick). Will see what happens. Only had the car less than 2 weeks - so not sure how...
