    Supercharger - Georgetown, DE

Showed up for me in car just now when I routed back to DC (which is good, since it's going to save me a run back to Rehoboth tomorrow before we finish our vacation by visiting the Smithsonian).

    Supercharger - Georgetown, DE

So.... finding myself pretty low on charge on the way back from an Orioles game to the beach, saw the chargers were lit so swung in. Gas pumps are roped off and the store isn't open (looks like it's ready any day) but the Superchargers are active.

    Range reduction in cold

Please tell me that's 100mi each way for 3 hours total? Otherwise....man, I don't know how people do it. Also, I'd be pretty interested in another data point: 60F *with* heated seats on low.

Using Canada Service Center for US owner

Late to this thread, but I'm also in Buffalo, so hello to you @cdeleo. I've used the mobile service a few times since getting my car in May, but I'm curious on how your experience with Oakville goes - please update when you're done. I've got a Red "First production", so RWD with black interior...

Interesting stall arrangement. And I've never seen the AC/DC cabinets not behind a locked enclosure, but the bushes seem to point to the possibility.

    Supercharger - Buffalo, NY

New Supercharger map has a second "coming soon" dot in Buffalo now. Zooming in, it's apparently going to be easy to charge up while wandering around the Taste of Buffalo :D If I had to guess, I'd say the real location is going to be at the solar panel factory. Thoughts?

Looks like the updated map has Erwin, NY now to at least cover some of 390S/86/99: Find Us | Tesla

Thanks for posting this. I was really hoping for Henrietta, but Eastview makes a lot of sense - easy on/off, lots to do. C'est la vie.

Tesla officially trying to upsell M3 to MS 60

Hi, my name is Eric and I'm a Teslaholic... This will be 11. My 10th unofficially was last Wednesday, when a local owner offered and I wasn't going to say "no" :) First experience with AP, and I showed the owner the rainbow road/cowbell Easter Egg...

Tesla officially trying to upsell M3 to MS 60

I'm a pre-reveal Model 3 reservation holder, am signed up for their event updates and newsletters, and have a Model S test drive scheduled for Friday evening, but I didn't get the "upsell" email. Perhaps because the nearest store to me is 3 hours away? (I'll be in Dayton OH over the weekend...

What do we do now? 18 months to go.

No problem, thanks for taking the time to ask and share the info. Too bad, it would be really nice if the state incentive applied residentially.

    Roof Rack for the M3

Given the numbers of Model 3s soon to be on the roads, I'd guess that third-party rack makers (Yakima I think is the OEM for the Model S rack) will accommodate the demand if Tesla won't. Though it won't be as easy to do the "clips and towers" type, since the door is frameless :(

What do we do now? 18 months to go.

Please do :) I'd also be interested. A quick look at that form shows it references NYS tax code article 22, section p. Relevant snippet: (p) Alternative fuels and electric vehicle recharging property credit.  (1) General.  A taxpayer shall be allowed a credit, to be computed as hereinafter...

Motor Trend live at Gigafactory with Model 3 today!

I'd really hope that, given it's such a small piece, if metal is standard and fixed glass is an upcharge, it will be a minor cost ($100-$250). I agree that the all-glass is gorgeous, and I don't need it to open, but if it's a $1000 for all glass I'm going to be bummed.
  18. etm33

    Are we insane?

Comment in that article was interesting: >Tesla will only get so far using just vision. > >There are times when it is impossible to see the road (under snow, heavy rain, etc) and for this you will need cm >mapped roads, or possibly radar or lidar. I somewhat disagree. Vision seems to have...

    Model 3 Appears Aluminum

Warning: napkin math incoming. Anyone with metalworking/auto building who can refute my numbers, please speak up! According to the "How It's Made: Dream Cars" episode on the Model S, the "body in white" of the Model S is 410lbs of aluminum. I have no idea how much is "wasted", but figure...

Model 3 reservations ($1000 down) will be accepted in Tesla stores....

Indeed. Autocorrect for the loss. The source cited is definitely not official. I agree that I do expect it to be refundable, but that's not a factual statement at this point.
  21. etm33

Model 3 reservations ($1000 down) will be accepted in Tesla stores....

Source? I've seen no such confirmation, only surpassing that this would be the case based on Model S and X. I certainly hope and expect it to be true, but am not aware of an official statement to that fact.

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

Maybe they're trying to get people who would have stretched for a Model S (i.e. the former Camry owners with means who love the idea but really struggle with the psychological implications of spending that much) to stretch instead for two Model 3. Certainly helps the overall mission of the...

Model 3 reservations ($1000 down) will be accepted in Tesla stores....

Just playing Devil's Advocate a little here, but how would it be tax evasion? Tesla is not avoiding taxes (or getting any credits - those go to the purchasers), so I don't think there'd be any way this could be considered tax evasion. Tesla would pay any and all taxes at the corporate level at...

    Barebone $35,000 Features

I think these make the cut. Heated seats because EV, keyless entry because that seems part of Tesla DNA and they can reimplement existing parts/tech, nav due to "no range anxiety", and folding seats due to utility gains.
  26. etm33

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

Not bad. Back lights look kinda Saturn-y, as does the rear half-door.
  27. etm33

    Barebone $35,000 Features

I agree. Power windows/locks, key fob, AC, floor mats will certainly be there. This car needs to compete with entry level luxury, not a Yugo.
  28. etm33

    Model 3 Feature Requests

I think the problem is that the federal government doesn't have full jurisdiction over this. There are a patchwork of state laws that govern mirror requirements: http://ecomodder.com/wiki/index.php/Mirror_Laws_by_State_(U.S.)
  29. etm33

    Barebone $35,000 Features

Floormats were optional on my three previous cars: 2005 Nissan Xterra, 2008 Nissan Altima, and 2013 Subaru Outback. Granted, all three were base models, but the mats were ~$80 for carpeted ones (Altima) and ~$150 for rubber formed ones (Xterra and Outback - kinda necessary with the winters we...

Speculation on Bolt sales and M3

    Take a conservative rate of $0.15/kWh. Anyone have a charging loss # for Model S? Let's just assume 10kWh/charge are wasted due to losses - 95kWh * $0.15/kWh = $14.25. $14.25 for say 250mi of real-world range (85 is rated EPA 265) = $0.057/mile Gas = $1.85/avg US price today for regular...

Speculation on Bolt sales and M3

Off topic to the thread, so I'll keep it brief: Flat roof means you could probably do a ballasted system, meaning you could take most everything with you when you move and not lose too much (perhaps the value of the racking if it can't be converted to roof- or ground-mount. Wiring runs would...

Not sure if that's a dig at Toyota or Tesla, actually?
  34. etm33

Tesla Says Model 3 Will Be On Sale 2017 Alongside Chevy Bolt

Uhmmm...end of 2017 is 718 days. I do think that, like Model X, Model 3 will not experience any meaningful number of deliveries before the end of 2017, but 2018 should be a good year.

Chevy Bolt is Ugly, Model 3 Still Poised to outsell if Attractively Designed

Unfortunately, for large swathes of the country not on the coasts, Chevy dealers are *way* more prevalent than Tesla galleries/stores. My nearest Tesla store not over an international border is 4 hours away :( One must not lose sight of Chevy's market penetration and advertising budget as...

    Time to go Frunkless?

Models S and X don't have a spare tire. I wouldn't think Model 3 will either. It's a weight (and therefore range) penalty, as well as an additional cost in a vehicle which may be pushing addressing an internal price ceiling.

    Supercharger - Buffalo, NY

On my way home today, I saw a friendly Ranger at the SC working on a wheel/tire issue (with a poor white Model S on a trailer) and let him know about our unsecured gate. He mentioned that the enclosures are "farmed out" to a construction company for building and repair, and that adds a bit of...

    Time to go Frunkless?

Semantic satiation at it's finest... Relatedly, (and close to home for me), is that any # of repetitions of the word buffalo forms a grammatically correct sentence: "Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo." And, to not totally derail the conversation; I quite hope that my future Model 3 has a...

    Supercharger - Buffalo, NY

As you can tell, I was not a boy scout. Yeesh, those knots look even worse than I remember :) One of these days we'll actually bump into each other, doc...maybe in 2 years from March when I get a Model 3. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

    Supercharger - Buffalo, NY

As expected, my first attempt didn't last long at all. The opening wasn't conducive to zip ties of reasonable length, so I ended up tying some black line I had in the trunk to secure it. Not the prettiest, but it should hold up to some wind now.

    Supercharger - Buffalo, NY

So, I stopped by on our way home and, lacking any suitable materials and seeing no nearby large rocks, I ended up putting the lock back into its receiver plate. It looks secure, but certainly won't hold up to any real wind. Next time I'm by I'll have some large zip ties with me to keep it closed...

    Production X Configuration Has Begun!

That's disappointing. I feel that the bioweapon defense is awesome for folks with allergies and it should be standard. If be surprised if there's really a material difference in Tesla's costs if it were to be standard.
