Euro crash tester says carmakers must return to physical controls - Impact on Australia?

When I drove the Plaid for a few thousand miles, I found it normally found the gear for me. Obviously, you don't wand to go forward when there's a car or brick wall in front of you.

    Car Insurance Options

Insurance; I have all 3 Tesla (S, 3 & Y) with Allianz @ $800 odd each. New bill for the first up 38%. Does anyone know a good broker?

    Car Insurance Options

Just got the renewal for the S - up 38%. Looks like it's back on the roundabout. I sent them a polite inquiry as to why the 38% increase and got a heap of bullshit in reply.

    Car Insurance Options

They are all crooks; as I said before, I have a 2015 S 85, a 2020 3 LR and a 2023 Y RWD all at ~$800 PA with Allianz. All policies have excess ~$1500 and one included windscreen; low km ~15,000 PA helps. No limit on drivers as I have a P driver (law stops him from driving the 3).

Universal Mobile Connector (UMC) in Australia

'Apparently' Tesla have found one for me in the Melbourne warehouse.

Universal Mobile Connector (UMC) in Australia

I have a Gen 1 UMC with a three phase adapter. Unfortunately, the UMC just failed and Tesla can no longer repair/replace it. Anyone know where I can find someone to repair the UMC?

    Car Insurance Options

Allianz - I can't spell. Every year I re-quote as they all put the prices up. Also, I think the 'P' frightens them.

    Car Insurance Options

True - that's obviously not the case but it makes a good story.

With that many cars, don't need many km each. Used to be much more when I only had the S.

Gen3 wall charger, 3-phase install question

Gota cover the loss in the cable too.
  13. raynewman

Gen3 wall charger, 3-phase install question

Unless you are charging an early model S with dual chargers; then it charges at 32 AMP three phase and you will need a 60 odd amp fuse.
  14. raynewman

    Home charging

If you can find a version 1 UMC, it charges at 16 AMP three phase.
  15. raynewman

40amp Single Phase wall charger info

As long as the charger is capable of more than 16 AMPS; some aren't. I just checked all screens on the console and the App - no mention of dual chargers.
  16. raynewman

40amp Single Phase wall charger info

Dual charger doesn't show in Specs on my 2014 S 85 even though it has 2.

40amp Single Phase wall charger info

Here is the manual for the 40 AMP Single phase unit.

Charger etiquette, what do you think?

Works with my mobile connector when it's plugged in.

    Model 3 Highland live now

Glad manufacturers are finally getting rid of column stalks; first few cars I had didn't have them (too confusing). Drove a Plaid from LA to Austin - appreciated the lack of stalks.

Insurance is getting out of hand

Allianz seem to be the goto insurance company this year; I've got all my cars with them at least until next year.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Elon has also forgotten the promise to look after the early adopters.

    Model X brake pad life

Acquaintance has an S - replaced them at 450k km.

    Portable Gen 3 Wall Connector

I didn't used to unpack mine. I have a S 85 with the large frunk - run the 3 phase to the socket and the mennkes to the back of the car. No worries.

Insurance is getting out of hand

I think they keep a random number generator for Tesla. I have an S, a 3 and a Y all approx $900 PA with Allianz.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Back in the day when Digital Equipment first released their Alpha (a RISC PC), the small PC exceeded the USA definition of a super computer and hence couldn't be exported. This looks like the same type of thing where so called 'experts' can't see their hand in front of their face.

Insurance is getting out of hand

Recently I've found Allianz to be the cheapest for an S, 3 and Y.

Insurance is getting out of hand

Last year my 2020 LR3 was insured with APIA for $961; this year they want $1165 (an increase of 21% - no claims etc). They also decreased the 'Amount Covered' by 10%. That all smells of daylight robbery. I have a replacement quote from Allianz for $880 with an increased 'Agreed Value'. Guess...

It looks like the latest version of the Tesla app and Powerwall also implement this.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Me too; last year I drove a 2021 Plaid S from LA to Austin and back to LA. Not bad, not bad at all.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Actually not anti-american or anti-north american or anti-usa; just anti Troll.
  40. raynewman

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

The M3 is no where near the style of car the S is. If they are relying on the 3 as their halo car in RHD markets they will loose share.

    Charge HQ

I trialed ChargeHQ 12 months ago. Since then had a problem with charging stopping just after starting. Tesla tracked it down to an external event; changed Tesla passwords and all good. I deleted the CHargeHQ App 12 months ago and something was still stuffing with my charging. Tesla perhaps...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

In the beginning everyone drove on the left side of the road - was to do with having one's sword arm available in the event of a problem. Then bloody Henry Ford decided he preferred the other side... Maybe he was a pacifist or perhaps left handed - who knows why he did it.
  43. raynewman

    Cybertruck Waiting Room - Australia

The 'no stalks' isn't too bad; I drove a Plaid S LA -> Austin -> LA last year and it only took the first couple of days to get used to the yoke and no stalks.

    Out of whack AC pricing

When WiFi was at the same stage AC charging is now, the cost per WAP was a great deal more than the current AC chargers. Note: for retail, Tesla will provide the AC units for nix. Free AC is used the same as free WiFi - to get the customers in through the door.
  45. raynewman

    Out of whack AC pricing

I guess you are against free WiFi as well - same principal.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

When I was at TMC in 2015, I spoke to a Tesla Software developer who said they were working on the LED sign problem. I would have thought they would have fixed it by now.

Driving on the left was the original idea til Henry Ford came along and stuffed it.

Ya - I wonder if I should sue them to get it back.
