    All discussion of Lucid Motors

It all goes to reinforce how it difficult it is to sustain profitable EVs. Just wondering what other pure play EV boutique brands left that are not China owned or branded?

Is Elon thinking of REHIRING some of the fired SuperCharging folks

I imagine the assistant would have all sorts of book deals. :)

Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

Just wondering if the M3H from China comes with the amber reflectors like the US ones? Secondly do they have adaptive headlights functioning?

Long-Range M3 or Long-Range MY for local driving, no commute

You should check out the threads I created exactly for this engaging both the M3 and MY owners to chime in. If this is your only car and you occasionally need the trunk height, then the Y will do. The 3 is decidedly more fun and faster, however it lacks the trunk space and higher seating...

My 2024 Quicksilver Model Y is here

It's more of a Pewter colour. Would prefer more silver. Nonetheless, still looks snazzy. Guess I'm just so bored with the limited Tesla colours.

    Good bye

Ioniq5 was one of my top choice heading into EV owning experience. Also next was the MachE due to price slashes. Not sure about Ireland, here in Canada, Hyundai seems to punish its customers for going with anything less than the Ultimate variant. That one comes with AWD, Sunroof, power...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

I think anyone who thinks the Tesla applied cost cutting measure to the M3H should watch Munro Live for this car.

Any side bets on when Juniper Y will show up given the latest Tesla rigamarole?

Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

Yes. You can see the country of origin via tesla-info website. This odd combo means Canadian 2024 Model Y RWD will not have the same "Range-up" option as the 'muhrican version despite being assembled in US. Staying on Model 3 HighlandI topic, I checked out this car over the weekend. You can...

Model 3 Highland or Model Y?

Not so much in Vancouver, BC. Pacific Northwest gets more rain and grey skies. The city grinds to a halt if there's some dusting. Anything over an inch the region issues top work order. LOL! BMW wagon is AWD with winters. Working from home gives us many options. :)

Model 3 Highland or Model Y?

Thought I'd update everyone here. My wife and I took the M3H RWD out today. I was surprised how playful it is. The car was more composed and quiet over bumps and non-perfect roads over the '24 Y we had a few weeks ago. The M3H is very fun. Like a go-kart sort of way. Trunk space was pretty...

Is Elon thinking of REHIRING some of the fired SuperCharging folks

This is interesting info. Perhaps there is a convergence of roles and responsibilities. Perhaps Tom emerged as the better of the two between Tannuci? As for re-hire? Don't take it personally if it is a general lay-off. It's all business. You can come back for the money. But better have an exit...

Anyone with a 2023-24 RWD Y think they’d pay to upgrade to LR?

It would be nice to have that option. Unfortunately the Fremont built MY RWD to Canada is equipped with LFP so this is moot for us Canucks.

Elon fires the head of SuperChargers and much (all?) of the SuperCharger team - how will this affect new SCs?

Wow that's too bad! Such big news with other mfg adopting NACS. Lots of excitement with non-Tesla EV owners.
  15. Dear_OP

Model Y RWD is now long range (May 3) in the US

Aww man. Doubtful if the Canada bound Fremont build MY RWD will get this done since they came with LFP batteries.

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

Were you seriously thinking Elon went to China recently to conduct deals? The real event was for his annual calibration.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Sounds like... - Some regions need to grow - Some regions need to slow - All regions need reliable uptime Pretty straightforward to me with good analytics. An AI can figure this out. Yes I see the bloat of 500+ SC team. Surgical vs Carpet bomb. OK got it Mr. Musk. All Hail Supreme Leader! Oh...

How are your 2024 Fremont built Ys so far in terms of interior and external quality?

Like to know how are your Fremont built Ys so far in terms of interior and external quality? Any issues/deficiencies?
  19. Dear_OP

Model 3 Highland or Model Y?

I think it's not the amount of volume so much as the trunk opening that results in ease of placing large items. It is also more ergonomic as the trunk floor is higher. It's just how it is. Sedan vs Hatchback format differences.

    Values dropping for used Teslas

^Exactly. Those folks who "revenge spend" right after Covid are the ones hurting. This is across the board. Prices are coming down to more sane levels. EVs in generally are still more expensive that equivalent ICE. Generally EVs aren't in the affordable price range to trigger mass adoption...
  21. Dear_OP

    Values dropping for used Teslas

2021 & 2022 were weird years for car values. This applies to ICE too. Used EV values would have rebates "savings" baked in. After all it makes zero sense to buy used when it is the same price as a post-rebate new EV.

    Depressing trend in EV's..

Seems like news of PHEV sales disagrees with your POV.
  23. Dear_OP

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

That's known as iterative development. Pretty common place in tech sectors. Agile lean delivery is adopted by main stream orgs for nimbleness through iterative improvements. Not so great for those who expect perfection at the start. However it is great for end users towards the end of the dev cycle.

    Depressing trend in EV's..

It doesn't have to be an either/or thing. Why can't we just have a variety of propulsion types? Looks like PHEV is seeing a resurgence. That's a good bridge auto-tech for those folks where personal home charging is not possible. And yes cost is still a challenge. Exacerbated by high interest...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Meh I'm newbie that still believes in normal working systems by sane humans and have not gone into disillusionment yet. 😆 Maybe more time with the auto wipers will drive me there eventually.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Musk has been complaining and waffling about Twitter's value for months. No doubt negotiations were made to finalize the buyout and laying off a bunch of people was in the playbook when he entered the doors of 1355 Market Street in SF. Stuff like this is not a whim. I don't buy that.

Help me decide Model Y performance or Model 3 performance

Your ultimate decision is down to factors that has nothing to do with Performance b/t these two cars. Maybe weight is a consideration. The question is do you need the space vs not and Gen 1 design vs. refreshed.
  30. Dear_OP

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

I think stuff like this is not overnight and certainly done in isolation. IRL it takes weeks if not months of prep work requiring senior level agreements. Elon Musk is not Cobra Commander nor Palpatine despite the media narratives. I agree that firing Supercharger dept makes little sense...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

I am curious if the minor updated Y in China would make it here Stateside. Better yet, the LR RWD in europe model would be great to sell here! We have vast lands!

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

I remember BMW drivers amongst all things were known to not signal much to the ire of other drivers. I guess Tesla is habituating its drivers to be more like Bimmer drivers. 😆

How to park well with HW 4.0 (no sensor)?

It's been a while for me. Does the current driver license road/parking tests do away visual checks? You know the good 'ol shoulder and mirrors checks. 🤷‍♂️

Fairmont Château Lake Louise, AB Canada

When I was there a few years ago, there were many EV chargers around. You can also park outside. Man we had a great time at Banff and Jasper when the countries were closed for tourists.

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

Does it have to be a brand new design? Why not have a de-contented Model 3 (or Y) and be done with it? I think $25k pre-rebate is certainly a good milestone to hit. I think the only one that's in that price point was the Chevy Bolt. That car's format would work great for urban dwellers and...

2024 US model Y rwd battery type and size

What about the Canada bound RWD MY that are from Fremont? Are those Panasonic NCA or CATL LFPs. Does Tesla purposely import CATL LFP just to have them installed in the relatively lower volume Canadian Model Y RWDs?

No Garage / No driveway.... Charging?

I must admit, I'd simply won't bother with an EV. But I applaud the pioneers who have to deal/innovate under such living arrangements. There are some liabilities & risks when running electric cables on sidewalks. It will some time before we become more like Norway.

This Latest Attempt to Force FSD Upon Everyone is Hurting the FSD Cause More Than Helping

A good change management approach is to ensure new users are aware and fully prepared for the new functionalities before roll out. Gives the ownership back to the people. Humans generally don't like to be forced into something.

Model 3 Highland or Model Y?

I too am 5'10". Hybrid remote work means we commute 2-3 times a week. The commute is about 30km one way. I'm not averse to sedans. Years ago I had a BMW 330i RWD that I foolishly sold. Missed the "honest to God" RWD driving experience. Loved the weighted tactile steering feel too. We even did...

    Model Y or 3 Highland?

Re: BMW, likely to keep it and pass on to my daughter. It is equipped with a hitch and we have a little trailer to haul stuff around. I maintain all my cars, I have yet to spend a dime on labour costs which is generally highest. Having a garage lift helps. I do like the 2024 Y we drove. It's...

Model 3 Highland or Model Y?

Tesla Canada dropped 3k for its M3H across the board. It was about the same price as the MY. Now that there the gap is larger, M3H begins to nudge into our radar. There are some nice new improvements there.

Model 3 Highland or Model Y?

Just trying to obtain a balanced view as I posted this dilemma over in the MY forum. We are quite set on buying the Model Y after a few thorough drives. While we briefly check out the M3 Highland at the sales centre, we didn't consider it as good value as the price are pretty much the same. The...

We are quite set on buying the Model Y after a few thorough drives. While we briefly check out the M3 Highland at the sales centre, we didn't consider it as good value as the price are pretty much the same. I've not been a fan of gen 1 Model 3 due to its build quality. However the refreshed...
