    Supercharger - Staunton, VA

Well, peeps, I can confirm that STAUNTON SUPERCHARGER IS LIVE! Was only pulling 91-99mi/hr, but my battery was near-full and well, it is 25 out. I'll stop again when I actually need. So, come to Staunton, everyone! Get away from you big-city bustle- lots to do here. Shakespeare, cute town...

    Supercharger - Staunton, VA

Wow. It’s been a while and glad to be back. I am local and will check on this tomorrow. Did a double-take when it showed up on my “nearby superchargers” list on the app tonight. Rumor of superchargers at that sheetz had been circulating locally for at least a year, so I stopped looking. Will...

    VA - Destination charging experiences

Swengl- If need to do this again, I live 5miles east of that exit off 64. Little better than trickle charge off my outdoor Nema 14-50 if you have your charging cable. Or just text me and will lend you mine (and so I don’t sic the dog on you).

    Supercharger - Charlottesville, VA

Oh my, I feel so honored, but I do believe I may be the first to supercharge here. Here now at Stonefield pulling 48kw. Tried both 1A and 2A. Stalls are all lit. Yay!

    Supercharger - Charlottesville, VA

I just saw jwen's proposal for grand opening. 9/18? Is that set? I'll try to get around there for an update. As an aside, there is a local meetup/ charger opening at Pro Re Nata Brewery in Crozet 10 miles west of Cville on 9/10 at 11am. Finally, hyatt place still has their destination charger...

    Supercharger - Charlottesville, VA

I live in the area. Stonefield is an upscale outdoor mall and Hyatt Place is a nice place to stay. I take my kids here all the time and will continue to do so. Even the area where those riots happened is a tourist favorite in the downtown historic area. Don't let the media deter you from a...

Tesla seeking to open Richmond facility

Great news (dealership, not the VADA). Do we have a voice as the public? Who can I write, email, curse, etc.? Tesla owns land in Richmond. Whatever they decide to do with it, it is looking brighter for us local owners.

Interesting conversation I had with Tesla rep about model S pricing going up in April

wk057. He has many posts on TMC dissecting the S, repurposing batteries, etc. I for one don't understand the computer speak, but I'd trust his speculation. Genius adventurer, more like it.

    Any owners with big dogs?

I have both the hatch window max tinted (35%) AND the rear sunshade and it does make a difference for my kids who sit back there.

    Any owners with big dogs?

Our 70lb rescue GSD has only been allowed in our van (I'm not ready yet for him in Tesla, but someday.....). When that time comes, he will likely sit in the back seat or the jump seat footwell. Short trips only as I think he will get too hot back there. Until then, here are some of my favorite...

    Cruising out of Baltimore

Thank you. This is very reassuring. Is the SOC to battery stress logarithmic? i.e., would leaving it at 98% cause less stress or is anything over 90% stressful? Sorry. I'm sure there are other threads to search. I'm being lazy. Thank you to everyone, for your input. Hope to meet some of you in...

    Cruising out of Baltimore

Ha! Thank you, very generous offer, but I'm feeling more reassured by the other commenters. But, very appreciative of your offer. Another example of TMC awesomeness. - - - Updated - - - great idea! This is where we plan on staying the night before to "top off".

    Cruising out of Baltimore

Maryland friends, Signed family up to cruise out of Baltimore and wonder if you have opinions on where to park/charge (or not) Tesla for the week. My plan is to max charge at our hotel the night before so battery is full before the weeklong park. When the ship docks at 9am on Sunday, I'd like...

How is the Model S as a family car?

@Drucifer- what aftermarket armrest are you using? I need something to separate twin boys are always getting into each others' space. Thank goodness for rear seats (aka the penalty box). Sorry to derail thread.

How is the Model S as a family car?

We have three kids and my boys still fit in our rear facing seats but will outgrow them in the next year or two. So will consider trading for X then. I like the sedan. I came from driving an SUV and like that I can now reach the ground when I step out (I'm 5'2.) S has plenty of cargo and people...

    "Bart Simpson" Demonstrates Tesla’s Autopilot

Cowabunga! I use autopilot everyday on my work commute through two interstates- probably driven more autopilot miles than not (since the update). I've also started using on non-interstate highway (with extreme caution, I know, I know) and since the most recent update with constraints placed on...

    Random Model S sightings

^ This makes sense! Back on topic- I'm on a roll with this 70D sighting today at lunch at Vito's in Harrisonburg, VA. TWO Teslas in the same parking lot, two random sightings- it's a first for me. (And I hope this one's right-side-up)

    @TeslaRoadTrip 2016 - "The Future Meets the Past" - May 14-15th - Williamsburg VA

Btw- there were only two hotels with charging availability in Wmsbg when we were there last fall. And I truly hoped when I saw your post last night that you were looking at Kingsmill. We stayed at the other one as KM was full. You guys chose WISELY. :-) Excited!

    @TeslaRoadTrip 2016 - "The Future Meets the Past" - May 14-15th - Williamsburg VA

LOVE that you chose Kingsmill! Great resort. Lots to do in Williamsburg for kids, adults, families, singles: Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown. Don't think Water Country open yet then. Great wolf lodge for the littlest kids. And until March 15, you can buy a 2 for 1 fun card to...

    Tesla moments

My 3 kids watching tv yesterday and car commercial for Audi Q7 comes on with a little kid in awe of the SUV like it was a spaceship and says, "Trust me, we're dealing with a higher intelligence here." Without missing a beat, one of my 8-year-olds says, "Guess he's never met a Tesla." Cue Mommy...

Good move, JonSnow. It is so easy to buy things. So easy to accumulate "stuff". Letting your kids drive the car? (teenagers specifically)

I can totally see which of my children would do this. One of those situations where you're telling them "bad boy", but secretly smiling in amazement. That said, my 10 year old routinely asks if she can "auto drive" the Tesla. I tell her she has about 17 more years of schooling before she's...

    Tesla moments

This reminded me of a very early Tesla moment: I work very late shifts most days and will usually come home between 2-5am. In my old Infiniti FX45, the V8 engine was enough to alert our German Shepherd that it was me coming in. The first month of driving the Tesla, he woke everyone up with his...

Winter is coming, Jon Snow. (Good thing the X handles well.) We've crossed paths before, so I won't repeat my advice from last year. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders and considered all the scenarios. Enjoy the X! (See, you DO know something, JonSnow.) :-)

How long do you plan on keeping your Tesla?

I seem to get the itch for new vehicle with every decade birthday, so I'm hoping 10+ years. That said, my firstborn has earmarked the Tesla for her hand me down car in 5 years, so the switch may occur sooner. (She is only 10 but has her eyes on the prize.)

    I just totalled my Tesla!!!

efusco was saying OP's hand burns were chemical (alkali) burns from airbag deployment. Although this source (Medscape: Medscape Access) implicates both thermal and chemical as culprits. Either way, glad you walked away from that hot mess. (See what I did there? :-)

I hit a roo and the "active hood" deployed

Must admit that I only clicked on this thread to see what "roo" was (thought a typo), until I saw it was an Australia thread. Then realized, holy moly- my car protects me, my passengers and potential outside human casualties? Jaw drop. Mic drop. Just when I thought I could no longer be more...

    Autopilot: Do you LOVE it?

YES. YES. YES! I use it for 3/4 of my daily interstate commute. Has never failed me when used as indicated. Have also used it with extra caution on curvy highways with clear lane markings. Love it so much that I totally missed it when I dropped the car off overnight for annual maintenance and...
