    Gen 2 Cluster retrofit

I didn't realize until I read this that the IC was refreshed. I have to replace my gen 1 IC because of bubbles. Has anyone done an upgrade on a car with a gen 1 MCU? Possible?

    Bubble on instrument cluster

This just started on by late-2014 P85 w/ 158k miles. Definitely out of warranty but I'll probably bite the bullet and get it fixed because I hate looking at bubbles. The quote for repair was something like $1,200 for the screen and $100 for labor. The IC screens they are using now have a much...

    Bent Arachnid 21" rim

I've used the wheel straightening service on the stock 21" wheels with mixed results, but the Arachnids are forged. Can forged wheels be straightened? I'm truly asking and don't know, but I would think that it's very hard to bend them back into shape, in the same way that it's harder to damage...

    Repack/Grease my own halfshafts

FWIW, I've had this service performed twice at the Tesla shop. The first time it was a courtesy no-charge and the most recent time I was charged for half an hour of labor and no parts. They may have just been nice to me but if that's the usual charge, it seems like a false economy to perform...

    Mirroring Iphone on Tesla's screen

On Sunday's This Week In Tech podcast, Leo Laporte, who has a model X in production, said that Elon made a statement during an overseas interview that Tesla has decided to support Apple and Android mirroring rather than develop their own app ecosystem. I haven't read that independently but I'm...

Where is the aftermarket suspension support? Model 2 is 4 years old now.

I think you're actually referring to the speed-sensitive disengagement of the height adjustment but in case you don't know, you can already remove the geofencing on suspension changes. When you make a change to the height, a tag shows up on the screen to the right of the height selection buttons...

miscategorized roads in 7.1 restricting autopilot

I was on a country road tonight where I paid close attention to this. The road was divided by a grass median in places and had no divider in other places. I set TACC at +7mph so that it would alert me when the restriction was in place. Amazingly, it was perfect the whole time. Whenever the road...

    Supercharger - Warsaw, NC (closed)

The CHAdeMO at North Hills mall is convenient to 440, reliably operational and in my experience always available. Oh, and free.

    Reported autopilot accident

In part. The car certainly doesn't seem to detect the open part behind a tractor trailer in the same way that it does a car or van because in one instance the back of the trailer was almost overlapping my hood when I wrested control away. In my experience my car would have moved over for a car...

AP Available on vin above 50,000

Fellow unicorn owner here. P85, Black with AP at VIN P60410 in case that helps.

    Digging the new plate...

I've heard that it was written gigawatts in the script and Christopher Lloyd didn't know how to pronounce it so he went with jiggawatts. I love that. Had he pronounced it right, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun to recite. :-)

    Reported autopilot accident

On 7.0 my car was routinely trying to do exactly this on AP. It wasn't just a case of the car not seeing the truck drift into my lane. My car was actively sliding right towards the back of the tractor trailer. At one point it happened 3 times in one week and I learned to turn off AP when...

Navigation problems drawing route on map

I used navigation about a half dozen times today on 7.1 and never had any problems. The traffic data was always present and the route was always properly highlighted on the large display.

Navigation problems drawing route on map

This has been happening to me consistently for the past few days. I'm hopeful that 7.1, which is flashing to the car now, will fix this, either because of software changes or the reboots that are inherent to an upgrade.

12 V Battery: positive terminal disappeared?

It was recently moved. A buddy of mine with a towing company was notified of the change. I don't remember the new location precisely but it is under the front hood. If I get a more precise description I'll post but I bet that info is in your owner's manual.

    Towing eye

FWIW, my last car, a VW wagon, had reversed threads on the tow eye as well so I think that's unique to tow eyes, not Teslas.

    Model S dome lights

From the simple look of the light fixtures one could be forgiven for not realizing this. Most cars have a big rectangular light that we are trained to know is also a switch while the Tesla's looks more like a lens.

    Model S dome lights

This will also work for the rear overhead lights.

    Side Collision Avoidance

Last night I was driving down an interstate that was deserted except for a street sweeper in the lane closest to the median. There were two empty lanes between us but as I approached, the Model S must have interpreted the dust cloud he was kicking up as a vehicle because the car sounded the...

Did anyone every have an issue with their rear bumper pulling off after exiting

The chrome on the back of those strakes may be decorative but the strakes themselves are part of the diffuser design to straighten airflow exiting the underside of the car. I've read that it creates a not insubstantial downforce.

Duke Energy - Time of Use

I'm on RT - Residential Service TOU in Durham (not a Progress area) without solar panels. I don't charge during peak demand metering hours. My electricity usage is pretty crazy, even without the Model S, but I just checked and last month's bill was $350 and it would have been $420 on the old...

NC - any interest in Triangle Tesla club?

Count me in! I would prefer a communication option that doesn't require Facebook though if possible.
