    New wheels and tires question

How badly do the 22's kill your range?

    New wheels and tires question

Thanks for your replies! I am looking for a second set of rims: black 22" for summer. And I'd use my silver 20" for winter. I don't mind spending the money for legit black rims (rather than painted ones). Just wanting to make sure the price is not out of line for what is customary for this...

    New wheels and tires question

Sorry for the newbie question: Is the $6700 price for new 22" black rims + summer Pirelli Scorpions tiresome listed on the Tesla website a reasonable price? I have sticker shock! I have a model X with 20" wheels, and the all-season tires that came with it are wearing down. I have winter tires...

    Wiki Model X Reset Techniques

Does anyone have a reset technique for the audio/comms system? Here are a few of the odd things my audio system is doing in the past few days (steering wheel scroll wheel reset technique does not help): - cannot skip to next track. Next/previous buttons do not work regardless of the audio...

    Cracked Model X windshield

Sorry if I've made things a bit confusing. Hopefully, I can make it more clear now. The windshield itself costs $880. There are other parts involved in the replacement/repair. Total parts cost was $1044 (or $1094; can't remember....). Total Labor cost was $250. The total $1370 figure...

    Cracked Model X windshield

I'll be happy to try, ohmman. But TBH, I am not really sure what that is. I know it's a hot topic and a big controversy here on TMC. But what I found is that the more I read TMC Forums, the more I worried about imperfections in my car that I never would have even noticed before. These are...

    Cracked Model X windshield

Just giving an update on the numbers. Dropped off my X at the Tesla SC, and the quote to replace the windshield is $1370 (total cost including parts and labor). In my experience, this is cheaper than a competing luxury car brand charges for a much smaller and less compelling windshield.

    Cracked Model X windshield

FWIW, I did not post here about my windshield because I was "crying out loud" about the cost. I certainly didn't want any sort of news article about it. I simply posted the cost that was quoted to me to be informative to other Model X owners and prospective owners. When the Model X was...

    Cracked Model X windshield

Thanks, @JonMc ! I am happy to report to everyone that the CORRECT price of the windshield replacement is approx. $880 (NOT $2300 as I was originally quoted). Once again, Tesla comes through with exquisite customer service! Frankly, I am very pleasantly surprised as I thought the cost of...

    Cracked Model X windshield

Thanks for your kind condolences. Luckily, my insurance will cover the whole thing. The SC said it would take 2-3 weeks to get the new windshield. I was pleasantly surprised it was not a longer wait.

    Cracked Model X windshield

Am I the first to have a cracked Model X windshield? Driving back from Mount Rushmore on a family road trip for the long weekend, a large rock hit my Model X windshield and put a medium sized crack in it. For those who have been wondering about replacement costs for the windshield, I can...

Very loud fan noise from frunk area with AC on...

Ha! I've been off the forums for a while because I've enjoyed driving my X so much! But this "AC too loud" is one of the things on my punch list to ask my SC about. Looking forward to more information whether this is normal or not.

    Autopilot and "Hold Steering Wheel"

Does anyone know how the steering wheel senses whether you are holding the wheel or not? I have received the "Hold Steering Wheel" warning a few times on autopilot WHILE I AM HOLDING THE WHEEL. What am I doing wrong to fool the wheel into thinking I'm not holding it? On another note, is there...

    Autopark on Model X?

I now have 900+ miles on my X, and I have never been offered autopark. :( I am hoping the software update being pushed right now will take care of that. It's on my punch list of things to bring up to the SC.

Guesses on "token of appreciation" for line waiters tweeted by Elon Musk

For those of us who gave Tesla thousands of dollars for four years while waiting for the X, we did not receive anything for our patience. No hat, no t-shirt, nothing but a thank you. With that said, I would not expect anything substantial just for waiting in line for a few hours....

Drop-in phone charger with a case?

I am having the same problem with my iPhone 6+ with a non-bulky case. I tried using rails #1 an #2, but the phone still won't fit. Without the rails, the lightning dongle does not stick up far enough to plug into the phone with the case on. This is a problem that can be easily "solved" by...

So sad. . .the X is going back to service center :(

In retrospect (now with ~500 miles on my X), without the Falcon Wing Doors, I would have bought the Model S. I know it's extremely popular to bash the Falcon Wings on this and the official Tesla forums. But I personally *LOVE* the Falcon Wing Doors and IMO, it is what gives this giant electric...

Model X front license plate missing ?

I am really on the fence about this issue tbh. I do not think it makes the front ugly, but rather I'm more interested in the effects on drag coefficient. With that said, someone mentioned the aftermarket solutions for front license plate mounts (moveable ones, magnets, etc.). Would this be a...

"in the factory production queue" means .... ???

This doesn't necessarily mean any particular date range. The key factor is VIN assignment. Typically the VIN is assigned approx. 5 weeks before the time the car enters production. Production usually takes less than a week. After that, there is a variable amount of time in QC (which seems to...

How many people are taking delivery of their Model X in March?

This isn't necessarily true (at least not any more). They do keep the X for a few days at least to make sure that they test repeatedly over multiple days to look for intermittent problems that may not initially present themselves. But now that the quality on the line has improved, there does...

How many people are taking delivery of their Model X in March?

Confirmed 12/2/15. Production VIN 00013x allegedly on track for being delivered this month.

    DS not responding...

I would not rush out and fill out a loan application yet. While VINs are typically assigned 5 weeks before the car is built, the car can get stuck in QC for weeks. I got my VIN on 12/23 and am still awaiting delivery. Many others are in the same boat. I would caution you to wait. My car spent...

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

Congrats @Lyon! My car made it out of purgatory this week also. Let's race to see who gets their car first. :D

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

The flood gates are about to open, methinks. I just got a call from my DS who said that my Prod VIN 00013x is leaving the factory headed to Minnesota in the next 24-48 hours. It might deliver as soon as 2-3 weeks. It had been stuck in QC since 1/22 (original conf date 12/2). I hope you all see...
  27. bobbykansara

Current time from confirmation to delivery?

It is COMPLETELY variable. And there are MANY variables. You will not get a simple, solid, consistent answer to your questions since no one knows the answer. Many sig reservation owners are still waiting for their cars. Some production reservations have received cars. Depends on a lot more...

    Starting to deliver Production P90D

Not a bad analogy, but the difference is the type of restaurant you are waiting at. Tesla is French Laundry: considered by many as the best restaurant in the country with a wait list that books many many months into the future. Even getting a reservation is difficult as you often can't even get...

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

@andrewket: That now makes an n=3 for cars in purgatory that take 7-8 weeks for QC. @Roamer: Thanks for the pep talk. I absolutely have faith and confidence in Tesla to do the right thing. As such, I have voted with my dollars and my faith in the firm is not shaken. My real worry is having...

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

No info on what rework actually needs to be done. As @valleywag stated, it's a PR/vague answer along the lines of "we just want to make sure the car is perfect for you". I don't doubt that intent. I don't blame the DS as I think they genuinely do not know the details for delays. I can take a...
  32. bobbykansara

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

Agreed @valleywag. Interestingly enough, my assigned DS contacted me for the first time today. My X has been in QC since 1/22 (one month), and this is exactly one month after my VIN was assigned (12/23). It was disheartening to discover from my DS today that the projected ETA for delivery...

To Wrap or not wrap your Model X

For those that are choosing to wrap, how did you decide which wrap(s) to go with? What are the differences between the XPEL (which seems more popular here) vs. Opticoat (seems 2nd place in popularity) vs. other products on the market?
  34. bobbykansara

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

FWIW, I am a production reservation holder, and even I can admit that it does not make any sense except for one exception: some sig reservation holders did not want to order the car without seeing/test driving. Some may not have even placed their order yet. In those cases, it would not be...

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

Every day, I read this thread. And every day, I think to myself that this is by far the most depressing thread. Every day I want to comment how my heart goes out to all of those people whose Sig X's are in purgatory.... err... I mean "rectification".... yeah, it's a first world problem, but...

To Wrap or not wrap your Model X

I live in the frozen tundra of Minnesota where it's winter basically 9 months out of the year. With these wraps, are the cars less apt to hold onto winter road grime? And do the wraps make it easier to clean/wash the car and have that "freshly detailed" look? There's clearly a difference...

To Wrap or not wrap your Model X

Personally, I find it difficult to do a simple search of the forums for opinions on coatings. There are many subforums and an insane number of threads where people have mentioned terms such as XPEL or Opticoat, etc. It makes it very difficult to find useful information without having to also...

    Starting to deliver Production P90D

Yeah, I've been wondering about that too. I was starting to think I was the only person on the planet who wasn't going to wrap his X in XPEL and all the other stuff. Is it just that the people on these forums are over-the-top obsessive about their cars or do Tesla cars really need more...

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

Maybe that 5 week estimate is for people who just got assigned? Clearly there are several Sig. Reservation holders who have not received their cars yet. And as for me, I received my VIN 8 weeks and 2 days ago. But who's counting....? ;) UPDATED: Just read the "applet" and what it actually...

    Starting to deliver Production P90D

Yes, still waiting.... No idea on the hold up, but to be fair, I haven't asked either. In a different thread, someone in a diff part of the country said that their DS mentioned X's are being fixed at the factory now instead of relying on SC's to make fixes locally. That seems to suggest less...

    Starting to deliver Production P90D

Having a VIN means you are slightly closer to delivery. **BUT** you cannot infer anything about how close you are. Some Sigs still have not had their cars delivered. I am still waiting for VIN 00013x which has been sitting in QC at the factory for at least two weeks. It's a step in the right...

    Production Model X Deliveries

Congrats, antruong4! I know my VIN 00013x is still sitting in QC at the factory as of late last week. (for those that will eventually ask, my info is below). Hoping my car starts moving across the country to the frozen tundra soon. :) Reservation #: 107X VIN: 00013X Order Confirmed 12/1/2015...

    Starting to deliver Production P90D

Ha! That's why I don't bother calling the DS's; those poor overworked souls have enough to do without me bothering them for an update. It doesn't make the car come any faster. And getting a second opinion won't change the fact that it's still sitting in QC at the factory. :) The car will...

    Starting to deliver Production P90D

No apologies necessary. My original reservation # was/is #1071. My VIN was assigned on 12/23 and is 00013x. Originally the my tesla page showed an estimated delivery of February to early March. Other than that, I have neither received nor asked for a delivery estimate. I have neither initiated...

    Starting to deliver Production P90D

I have it on pretty good authority that "it only takes a few days to make the car". I also know that it took exactly four days for my X from start of production to finish (entering QC phase). Not sure where my car is now, and I haven't asked. Take that info FWIW. It's not the manufacturing...

Any Signature Model X owners NOT receive their car yet?

Ugh. I cringe every time I hear of a sig reservation holder who still hasn't got his or her car yet. I feel so badly for you guys/gals. Perhaps it is due to this.... Fiasco (is there any other word for it?).... That TM is doing away with the signature reservations on model 3. All reservations...

    Starting to deliver Production P90D

I saw your response on that post, Paul. I agree with you. Something seems odd about the post. I am particularly struck how the owner didn't seem to know if his X was production or Sig. How do you not know if you put down $5K or $40K? Maybe I am misreading it. I don't want to be a doubter, but...
