Teslafi is showing a jump in firmware versions from 4.18.x to 4.21.x - what.. no 4.20.xx ?? realll Elon?

There's always next year. Ideally, I think last year would have been the best. 2020.4.20.

2020.4.18.1 released - includes Cabin Camera Updates

No, I have not seen anything about reduced nags. I was commenting on my specific situation because it doesn't line up with what is reported on notateslaapp.com. I use TACC a lot. It's different with this update. I think I might be on pure vision. In the past, when someone going the other...

2020.4.18.1 released - includes Cabin Camera Updates

I guess that's possible, but what does the cabin camera have to do with radar-less vehicles? Are our cameras not physically connected from the factory?

2020.4.18.1 released - includes Cabin Camera Updates

Got the .2 software update. My car doesn't mention anything about the cabin camera, and I still got the nag when using Autopilot, and I made sure I was looking forward. I've got a Model 3 from July 2019.

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Long term? I really doubt it will be separate. While the limited beta testing is going on, I think separate is the only way.

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

I think this could be a requirement for beta testers: Tesla hacker reveals what driver-facing camera is looking for - Electrek

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

It'll be interesting to see how they determine expert and careful drivers. Fred over at Electrek claims that drivers will still have to keep their hands on the steering wheel. Is there any confirmation of that? I think it would be awkward if the car needs to make a 90 degree turn and it turns...

Towed back to Tesla after driving only 32 miles...

I'm not exactly sure. I think you have to pull the driver's door apart.

Towed back to Tesla after driving only 32 miles...

This sounds similar to the issue I had. Car needs service, “power reduced” alerts [Update: fixed, loose main ground connection]

    2020.28.5

In my subsequent post, I said about 1500 ft. That's a very rough estimate though. It may have been 1200 ft. I was just surprised to see the message pop up so soon. In the previous versions of firmware, the message popped up at that same intersection that I take to work right at the 600 ft...

    2020.28.5

Yes. Same here. The alert came up very early. ~1500 ft. It initially said in 600 ft. The distance went up as I got closer more inline with reality.
  12. R

    2020.28.5

The traffic control message came up very early for me on my first drive this morning. It started at 600 ft and then gradually increased to 1000 ft. Not sure what that was about.

Premium Connectivity cost $9.99/month for many Model 3 versions

My apologies if this has already been asked. I've scanned some of the pages in this thread. Does Standard Connectivity include cellular data for communication with the phone app, like when the car is in a parking lot and nowhere near Wi-Fi?

Car needs service, “power reduced” alerts [Update: fixed, loose main ground connection]

While it would be fun to blame computers, the ground connection is not computer related, and it is installed by hand by a human.

Car needs service, “power reduced” alerts [Update: fixed, loose main ground connection]

Good news. Got the car back already. Car was great on the drive home (back to work) 37 miles. From the work order: Found alerts indicating loss of communication to multiple modules. Inspect connections at left vehicle controller. Found loose main ground connection. Secure connection. Perform...

    Key card wouldn't work

Any updates? My car was towed yesterday. The issue this time was completely different, so I created a new thread: Car needs service, power reduced, etc.

Car needs service, “power reduced” alerts [Update: fixed, loose main ground connection]

I will. Sounds like a computer problem. A couple weeks ago, I posted that the car wouldn't recognize my phone key or key card for about 5 minutes. Then it just started working again. Maybe it's related?

Car needs service, “power reduced” alerts [Update: fixed, loose main ground connection]

I was driving along coming up to a red light. Regenerative braking was doing its thing. Then all of a sudden, the car started to shudder to a stop. It was like the pulsation of anti-lock brakes. It was a bright sunny day with dry roads and 88 degrees. The car showed P like it was in park...

    Key card wouldn't work

That thought had crossed my mind when the car wasn't unlocking the doors. My car is barely more than a month old.
  20. R

    Key card wouldn't work

Sorry to hear that. I probably should have tried walking away from the car to see if the bluetooth would have reconnected that way or maybe even turned it off and back on, but I really didn't expect the key card not to work. The car has been fine since then.

    Key card wouldn't work

I installed 2019.32 last night. No issues. I got in my car to go to work this morning like normal. Again, no issues. Phone key worked as it should. When I went to leave work this evening, my car would not recognize the phone key. This is somewhat rare. I normally open the app to force...

    2019.28.3.1

Just got this update tonight from 28.2. Not sure if it's a coincidence, but my display locked up and rebooted on my drive to work this morning. MCU crash? First time this happened to me since I got my Model 3 on July 23.

    Access Denied on Cancellation Request

That worked. I maybe should have tried the desktop interface again in case things were just down earlier. I'm not sure why the browser on the phone would work. It's an Android with Chrome. I don't have any ad blockers on my computer. Either way, it's done. Thanks for the suggestion.
  25. R

Will SR AWD ever be available?

I suppose it's a personal preference, but I prefer a vehicle that understeers versus one that oversteers. Seeing as how 99% of the time, I'm driving in a straight line, a vehicle that stays straight is preferable to one that fishtails. That's my opinion and you are welcome to your own, but...

    Access Denied on Cancellation Request

I just tried to cancel my Model 3 reservation. I'm getting Access Denied in Chrome and Firefox when clicking Submit Cancellation. Anyone else have this issue? Solutions?

Will SR AWD ever be available?

I never expected that. That would be an unrealistic wish.
  28. R

Will SR AWD ever be available?

I drive a FWD Civic with all-season tires. It handles much better than my grandfather's hand-me-down Grand Marquis. Yep. I probably shouldn't be spending $50,000 on a car, but I've been saving for it since 2015. I was hoping the price would come down over time with economies of scale and...

Will SR AWD ever be available?

I've been thinking about that. It makes sense. That "never again" has just stuck with me.
  30. R

Will SR AWD ever be available?

Yeah... My annual tax liability isn't high enough to get the full credit.

Will SR AWD ever be available?

My first car as a teenager was RWD. Let's just say I had an experience in the snow that I said never again.
  32. R

Will SR AWD ever be available?

On my Account page on Tesla's website, SR AWD was an option to select what I was interested in. That was 2016.
  33. R

Will SR AWD ever be available?

I was hoping for AWD with FSD for under $50k. I'm increasingly believing that will never happen. My original plan was to get SR (35k) + AWD (5k) + AP+FSD (8k) which comes out to $48k. Now Elon is saying the price for FSD will increase substantially over time. I just have this limit that I've...

Elon's fear-mongering about AI: what does he have to gain?

I don't get his call for regulation. While it may apply to the U.S., I don't see how it would apply to other countries. China already has the world's top 2 supercomputers.

What number am I in line?

Uid is most likely short for User identifier. Some database tables use sequential numbers to identify each record. I'm guessing you're the 9XXXXX10 record to be added to the table. It's probably used to identify you, not the order of your reservation.

    Why the lever for PRND?

Interesting. So the whole thing could be different for the Model 3 since Elon pointed out that the steering system they showed in the prototype is not the one that will be used.
  38. R

    Why the lever for PRND?

That's fine, but this is in the Model 3 forum.
  39. R

    Why the lever for PRND?

I understand that. My point was that if the screen blanks out as MileHighMotoring was suggesting (and by extension the HUD), there would be no way to confirm the change in mode.
  40. R

    Why the lever for PRND?

The order and position of gears is included in the standard in my link above. I guess they could put the lever on the left to put drive above reverse :) S3.1.1.1 Transmission shift levers. If a steering-column-mounted transmission shift lever is used, movement from neutral position to forward...

    Why the lever for PRND?

Umm... isn't it the opposite of that?
  42. R

    Why the lever for PRND?

I hadn't considered the screen going blank while driving. Since the lever isn't mechanical though, how would you confirm that the desired mode was reached? It is my understanding that putting the car in park sets the parking brake. Is there an audible sound to confirm that the car would be...
  43. R

    Why the lever for PRND?

I don't see anything about a physical actuator. *shrug* I guess it just surprises me that with the removal of so many physical knobs and switches that the legacy of the PRND lever remains. eCFR — Code of Federal Regulations
  44. R

    Why the lever for PRND?

Does anyone know why they use a lever for PRND? Since the indicator is shown on the touchscreen, I think it would be easy enough to use that as a selector as well.

    I can't imagine - What will part 2 bring?!

I'm probably crazy for thinking this, but I think there will be a reduction in base price. Elon replied to a tweet about reducing the base price by $1 for Washington cars with "of course :)" Maybe I'm reading into it too much. The most common thing to increase demand of something is to lower...
  46. R

    What wasn't said.

I've also seen articles state that Autopilot will be included in the base price, referencing auto-steer and auto lane change.
