Horn is hard to honk in times of danger

Realize this thread is about the horn, which I agree is unusually hard to activate, but it is also worth noting that per the manual both autopilot and TACC "may not be fully functional or may provide inaccurate information" when "visibility is poor (due to heavy rain, snow, fog, etc.)."...

    Fob not detected while driving

Hi, I've attached the page of the Model S manual that explains how to change the CR2032 battery. The same page also says that phones and other radio devices can interfere with the fob signal from time to time.

    Fob not detected while driving

I had this happen once in the Model S, even to the point where the car warned me to pull over and then shut itself down. Swapping out a low battery in the fob fixed my issue.

5 Suggestions for a Better U.S. EV Incentive

Possible amendment to your five? Consider offering incentives larger credits for less expensive cars to encourage manufacturers to develop more cost effective EVs and to promote more widespread buyer adoption.

How would you prefer to pay for Supercharging?

Why not simply implement pay as you go using the Paypal, Apple Pay or other payment networks, either through the Tesla app or by detecting the VIN of a car when it plugs into a supercharger and debiting the appropriate amount? This would be far more marketable than a flat up front charge for the...

How would you like to see the Auto Pilot improved?

Good tip, regardless of the car you drive -- thanks!

How would you like to see the Auto Pilot improved?

It is perhaps particularly important and potentially valuable to have blind spot detection given the size of the center pillar which separates the front side and rear side windows in the Model S.

    Autopilot and braking

Thanks, Michael - I'll give that a try.

    Tips for new Tesla owners.

I'll take a few of your questions: 4. Sound system: I figure that since I will be driving a vehicle with virtually no noise, I will listen to the radio more often. Can guys with the premium upgrade chime in on if it is an impressive improvement over the regular sound options? I'm glad to have...

She took dad's car for a spin - literally

The safety features of these cars are amazing. But if my child wrecked a $70,000 sedan by driving this recklessly, I'd kill her myself ;). At the very least, she'd be grounded until she was 40!

    Autopilot and braking

If the energy display in my Model S is accurate, AP/traffic aware cruise control disfavor regenerative braking. Have others seen the same thing? Is there a technical reason for that?

    Autopilot Pot holes and debris

Yes, no pothole, glass, or small debris detection. I love AP but it has its limits. After experimenting in different scenarios, I now use AP almost exclusively when freeway driving. There are far fewer things that can go wrong—potholes, cars dashing out from driveways, stop lights and stop...

Using voice to summon your Tesla!

Neat article and a clever hack but if you follow the links, not so sinister. Someone used the Amazon Echo APIs and some intermediate tools to translate voice commands into calls to Tesla's own unsupported but documented application programming interface—the same API that enables Tesla's app...

    Does Autopilot reduce road rage?

I still find myself annoyed with people who cut in and out of traffic because they are reckless jerks. But because autopilot usually handles such situations well, I'm partially relieved of the anxiety brought on by fear of plowing into someone's rear. My driving anxiety comes from AP itself. AP...
