    Jolt EV charging network

Jolt now up to 24 sites in Adelaide. 3 sites recently added in Norwood council region. Interestingly listed as NOR001, NOR003 and NOR004. This would suggest there should be a NOR002 coming.

2016 MX start up time - what is normal?

Other symptoms were glitching of the MCU ( areas freezing/ slow maps etc). When the MCU failed the car was still drivable albeit without any of the controls on the MCU and for some reason with no indicators (at first i thought it might be just no electrical sound of the indicator but i confirmed...

2016 MX start up time - what is normal?

My mid 2017 Model X is experiencing the same thing. Not only in the morning but other times of day as well. I had a similar issue with Model S and then the MCU failed. After the MCU was fixed the problem resolved. I am wondering if was just a coincidence or if it is a warning that the MCU is...

FSD Hardware 3.0 upgrade for Model S/X

Someone posted on Facebook that they have received first HW3 upgrade in Australia. I have put in a service request for HW3 and the local service centre have ordered the part and made appointment for Jan 2021.

    Model X lug nut removal

There are some relatively cheap online options for Tesla lug nut removal but I came across this useful device which works well. The plastic device sits on the back of Lenovo desktop computer VDUs. I am not sure what it is for but it usually falls off. With some minor sanding to the sharp tips...

Charging Tesla 3 with single-phase 3 pin socket

Why dont you aske an electrician to wire a 32 amp to a Tesla HPWC. Then you can plug this into your 32 amp plug and also take it with you if you move or if you are traveling.

Dealing with ICEholes, don't lose your cool

Dual exhaust pipes and fuel cap visible. Not electric and not plugged in. Sheer arrogance I am afraid. I agree though that EV drivers can also be EVholes.

    Battery loss after 69K

I have a 3 year old model X 75D. After around 50000 km i am getting a maximum useable battery capacity of around 62 kwh. I complained to Tesla and they replied that as long as I am getting at least 70% battery capacity out to 8 years or 240000 km they are not really interested.

    Adelaide to Alice

Thanks for all the advice which allowed me to make it from Adelaide to Alice in a Model X 75D. I only seem to get just over 60kw/hr out of the battery from 100% to close to 0% so there were some long charging breaks but we made it safely. I went with the options of overnight charging at Port...

Did you buy the Elon EOFY FSD upgrade? If so 2021 Q1 is the ETC :(

    1. Covid is not an excuse. These upgrades were paid for well before Covid and Tesla is continuing to manufacture. 2. The best action would be a group action. Tesla have responded to group action by owners in the past such as the European action on CCS upgrades.

Finally - national data on the number of BEVs and Teslas!

SA require all EV first registered after 1 Jan 2019 to have specific EV number plates and they also sell stickers for those with EV registered prior to this to add to their plates. Thus SA motor vehicles dept should be able accurate data on EV from 1/1/19 forward as well as any sales of EV...

    Adelaide to Alice

3.5 years down the track from my initial thoughts about this trip and now I will be finally making the trek to the Red Centre in a few weeks time. V10 first impressions and bugs

Has anyone had issues with iphone linking on V10? I can’t seem to initiate calls from the car (by voice or from the mcu) although if I make the call from the phone it will play through the car speakers.

You haven’t ordered yet - here’s the thread to discuss why

Day 1 reservation but S and X fill the 2 car garage and I dont want to park on the street. I am holding on to my reservation as the banks are not offering anything of interest anyway and one day i will have a bigger garage or fsd will eventuate which will make AP1 fully redundant.

I am traveling and have had no luck connecting to...

Why doesn't TACC/AP follow changes in the speed limit?

Driving today in SA from Adelaide to Clare. Pretty much AP all the way. AP2 Model X with HW2 and FSD optioned. Speed selection to Max for speed limit. AP largely successfully managed the automatic transition between speed zones both up and down between 50/60/80/100 km/hr maintaining the Max...

    Tesla MX Charging cables

I think the need for additional cables is largely dependent on where you live and where you want to travel. PlugShare have a good map and you can filter by plug type to get an idea of the potential utility of various adapters/cables. On this basis I decided in SA there is no point having the...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I find that many public destination chargers suffer from poor planning for installation. I would suggest that short cords are generally unhelpful and if attention is not paid to the siting of the charger relative to the rear left vehicle charging port some chargers are simply impossible to use...

    FSD back at sale prices

Listening to a tesal podcast today I heard the comment that Elon had recently said that there were no regulatory issues with FSD around the world except in Europe. I suspect this is because most governments havent even come up with legislation yet to handle this. Hopefully Elon can get FSD to...

    Subzero experience - lessons learnt

The subzero refers to where my battery charge ended up as much as the fact that it was cold. A little bit of poetic license. I think the context is there in the text. No need for moderator censorship i think.

    FSD back at sale prices

I think I want both. I love to drive but would be happy to let the FSD take the wheel at times. I just dont know what to believe about how much of FSD we will get in Australia and when. I want to believe but I am afraid of disappointment.

    FSD back at sale prices

Tesla have dropped the price of FSD again. It is $4300 if I choose to add to my Tesla account. Last time Elon tried this I called his bluff. I said I wasn’t going to spend good money on a unicorn. Now I am losing my nerve. What if he puts the price up again? Its like a game of poker and I dont...

    Subzero experience - lessons learnt

Last night I ran out of battery power for the first time. I was quite surprised. I had an 11km trip and 20 km of range. I have run the car fine on a few occasions and not had a problem so I wasnt too concerned. I thought i would just reduce my speed and i should be fine. It was about 7 degrees C...

When will AU have Autopilot on par with the US?

I have been wondering if I will regret not buying FSD at the bargain basement price earlier this year as Elon threatens to raise the price by $1000 a month. In the end ut was not my lack of faith in Tesla but my lack of faith in Australian regulators that held me back. I suspect Australian...

    July 2019 Supercharger update

You can use the onboard tesla navigation screen to check the availability of chargers while en route. It shows for example 1/4 in use or 2/4 in use. Obviously it is not 100% as by the time you get there it may have changed but it is a good guide. More of a problem is if the charger is ICED...

    Supercharger-Adelaide (SA)

It seems somewhat ironic to be charging my clean green EV from electricity largely produced from the clean green solar panels on the roof of the Adelaide Bus Station while busses sit next door just idling their diesel engines. I hope my HEPA filter is working.
