    Parking Assist?

I have found that it only identifies open spots between two vehicles, not open spaces without vehicles. While I tested this many times, I don't use it because I don't want to be parked so closely to other vehicles.

    AutoPilot question

@RKap, not sure what you mean. If the TACC was set to 65MPH, and with a car in front of you doing 55MPH, you will do 55MPH.. However, if the car in front changed lanes or was no longer present, you would increase to 65MPH, the speed set on TACC regardless of what the traffic on the other lanes...

    Why is Charging so Fun?

@ratsbew You got that all wrong. Telsa vehicles are smart enough to only use renewable energy that is on the grid. So, they are only running on the wind and solar portions of the power grid. No Nat Gas, No Coal, No Nuke, and no salmon stream water is used to charge them. Just Sunshine and...

    AutoPilot question

Most likely, being in heavy traffic, the Sign Reading failed to pickup a change of speed limits along the way. The OP probably didn't recognize this, as the car was being paced by the surrounding speed of traffic, not the speed limit. Once traffic cleared, TACC resumed to the last known Speed...

How exactly does the federal tax credit work?

@bonaire Certainly. This is a Tax Credit that is used to offset a Tax Liability of up to $7,500. Tax Liability is not based on tax withholdings. "If you had wages in the year and Federal taxes taken out during the year, then you can get the full 7500 as a refund even if you owe $0 on your...

    Open letter to Elon

Sorry, but I find this to be a publicity stunt. If a serious buyer of at least $6,000,000 worth of vehicles were to truly reach out to an auto manufacturer, there would be no difficulty finding the correct executive. Secondly, to place such a request on Twitter and other Public Forums, again...

I'm thinking of getting a Model S: Would you recommend it?

Luxury - MB Sportiness - MS Fit/Finish/Comfort - MB Performance - MS Technology - MS Service - MB I owned a MB AMG S63. I really miss the interior comfort of that car. The Model S is tops of anything I've had as far as performance. I no longer drive long distances, so I would continue to...

The "Is Tesla Going Bankrupt?" thread

Charging circuit doubling for generator tie-in?

@grichard You have two items to attack separately. 1. You will need to provide an air gap break point between your main panel feed and the electric meter. So, you will need to install some type of manual or automated isolation device to prevent back feeding to the utility. 2. To overcome...

HPWC and NEMA 14-50 Outlet Question

GSP is correct. I made the 6-20 setup myself. It allows me to use the Turbo cord that came with the wife's Volvo, but I can unplug from the 14-50 if I need to use the 14-50. Plus, since we have Model 3s on reservation, the 14-50 can be used for one of them.

Can you change NEMA 14-5 to Wall Connector?

I am hoping it was a typo and you meant a 14-50 outlet. If so, it IS NOT the same wiring! A 14-50 is a four-wire outlet. Two 120VAC hot leads, a neutral and a ground. The Tesla HPWC is a three- wire device. Two 120VAC hot wires and a ground. There is no neutral. So, the neutral would need...

How long does it take to get a drivetrain replacement??? so frustrated!!

@sorka I know what you mean. We used to live down the road from a Chevy factory. Whenever my car needed an oil change I would take it to the factory and they would just give me a new car. I wonder if Tesla will do the same for you working so close.

How long does it take to get a drivetrain replacement??? so frustrated!!

someone posted a week ago or so that they ran their Model S into a curb at 55 MPH and tore the front drivetrain apart. I think he said it was 3 - 4 months. And, he raised a little Hell on this forum and got the attention of Tesla folks who stepped in and sped things up.

Charging Challenged - Service Panel Too Small

Lease vs. Buy Calculator (with tax credits)

When you lease a Tesla, they use US Bank. US Bank allows one transfer, but there has to be 12 months or more remaining in the lease. The lease transfer costs $600. $150 for an application fee and $450 for a transfer fee. Once the transfer is approved by US Bank, the original leasee is...

Has buying a Tesla changed your mind about Climate Change?

Lease Transfer Market? (Another Buy vs Lease Thread)

I searched Leasetrader.com and swapalease.com. I found a 2015 85D with 3,000 miles for 895/mo lease takeover. All I had to pay was $500 to US Bank for the lease takeover application and transfer cost. I have 25 months remaining, which should be enough time for my M3s to be ready. If the M3s...

How does autopilot cope with bends/slippery surfaces?

One other thing, AP has a great tendency to abort while making a sweeping left hand, off-camber turn. I imagine it is because the camera loses sight of the right side lane markings. This can be very hazardous if you are not expecting it! Imagine what happens to the car when making a left...

You pre-ordered a Tesla Model III, so what, do you have a Plug?

Be honest: is SCing on a long trip annoying?

Although I love my Model S, I will not use it again for long distance travelling (Over 500Mi.) I bought my Model S in Texas and drove it back home to Florida. I did that so that I could have an extended learning period for the car, functions, supercharging and range expectations. I loved the...
