    14-30 charging

The UL standard permits a 30amp breaker to carry up to 40.2amps continuously. This is the the answer to the entire thread. I appreciate everyone's concerns about me burning down my house but I have no intentions of pushing the limits of this outlet even if the UL Standards say it's safe...

    14-30 charging

Update: I replaced the suspect CB with a new 30amp and it still does not trip when drawing 40amp. Very strange.

    14-30 charging

That's a good thought Chris. It was a very cold day when this happened and most of the wiring routes through the attic to an unheated attached garage. I am using a non tesla adaptor to plug into the 14-30 so the car did not auto adjust.

Thanks for straightening me out Cottonwood. I'm buying a new breaker tonight on my drive home from work.

    14-30 charging

It is a brand new 30amp breaker. Maybe it is defective out of the box.

    14-30 charging

It does use a 2 pole breaker. But each pole is 30 amps.

    14-30 charging

I have a 14-30 outlet installed in my garage. I plugged my UMC in and forgot to Dial the charging draw down on the vehicle. It charged just fine at 40amps. Even charged at full speed of 28mph. It got me wondering why the heck didn't it pop the 30amp circuit breaker that outlet is wired to. The...

14-50 outlet - will it work if the voltage is 208V instead of 240V?

I charge at work on 3 phase 208v. The tesla charging cord will accept 2 or 3 of the phases but prefers 3. The 208v I charge on is actually 191v once I start drawing from it and it charges at about 23 mph. Hope this helps.

Remote S: Tesla app for Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

Allen, I have an iPhone 6S. I really wanted to love your app. The watch app is very well laid out and was the primary reason I purchased. Unfortunately shortly after installing I noticed my phone acting up quite a bit. It was freezing (black screen) on unlock and crashing when I opened your...

    Airport charge etiquette

What is the proper etiquette for charging at the long term lot at the airport? My trips usually last 1-3 weeks but the car will fully charge in less than 24 hrs. Can't help but to feel like an A hole leaving it plugged in that whole time. Maybe leaving a note that they are free to disconnect...

    Charging times

I believe your correct. Although I suspect a Tesla wall charger pulling 80A would slow down towards the very end of the cycle.

    Charging times

I charge on "240v" 3phase and I only get 24 mph but that is because during certain hours I only get 200v instead of the full 240v. I suspect this is do to high electrical usage in the industrial zone my office is located in.

    CPO Fees

I wasn't charged any other fees on my CPO. 750$ to ship it to my driveway and I'm responsible for taxes when I transfer the title to my state. That's it. My CPO showed up in better than new condition too. Previous owner had paint protection, winter trunk/Frunk mats, trunk shelf, Frunk net. I...

Solar Powers my Model S. I do not use Michigan's EV charging plan because I charge for free at work, although it would be a good deal if i did.

Question about charging for an Electrical Engineer/Tesla Guru

I understand that 240v charging is more energy efficient than 120v due to decreased voltage drop and what not. My question is if 240 becomes even more efficient when reducing your charge rate to 5 Amps instead of 20 Amps. Furthermore is one amperage better for the battery than another?

    Please Please add this feature!!

I have installed Visible Tesla, and it is very useful. But for this application it is not practical. It requires that your computer be on and Visible Tesla open and running at the time that you want your car to preheat or charge. For people who are on the go and use a laptop this just becomes...

    Please Please add this feature!!

@andrewket Agreed. I manual program my "smart" thermostat. Maybe that makes me a control freak but it should at least be an option.

    Please Please add this feature!!

So my fusion energi was able to preheat itself on a schedule so long as the vehicle is plugged in. It was one of the best features of the car. Every morning I would get in it at 6:30 am and it would be toasty warm even inside my unheated garage. Today I became a proud owner of a S85 and...

    Deposits refundable?

Initially my owner advisor told me it was not transferable. I quoted the CPO Oder agreement to him which explicitly states that it is transferable not not refundable, he was very very apologetic and stated he hadn't realized realize the CPO program had that policy. My deposit was transferred...
