    Cybertruck FS now or wait?

Yeah, I'm sorry but that statement is simply wrong. I paid $130k for my MXP in 2022 and now you can buy a new one for $93k. Guess what that did to my resale? A quick check on tesla.com shows it's worth about $80k now. So $50k in depreciation in 2 years. Depreciation is damn slow or...

Teslaunch Refresh Stalk kit install and review

I did include the 10mm socket in the list of tools you will need! :). I did fail to mention rocking the wheel to get it to wiggle off. Thank you for adding that to the thread. Signatures are cool! Nothing like that on mine. Reminds me of the early S's that Elon signed the backside of the...

I'm on 2024.20.3 and I never use AP so not sure what's happening there. I have seen a couple of instances like Marc described when I just went to the first detent. I thought I was just being lazy and didn't fully trigger the command (a repeat movement all the way to the stop always worked)...

As to warranty/service, to tag on to what @4SUPER9 said, Warranty law is very clear in the US. The manufacturer must PROVE that the modification caused the problem in order to deny a warranty claim. I replaced my yoke with an aftermarket wheel 9 days after purchase (and long before Tesla...

I find that if I'm lazy with my movement (just sort of stab the stalk up or down) it will sometimes fail to trigger. But if I am deliberate it has always worked. So even if you move it to the second position (full deflection) it doesn't always trigger? Hmm. That has never failed for me. I...

    S3xY stalks

Because the person who started the thread, @Christopher1 bought a set of 3/Y stalks from eBay and wired them to S3XY buttons in order to send commands to the car. Other people want a more turn-key solution and so other products were mentioned.

The Teslaunch retrofits are 3/Y stalks, not the previous S/X Mercedes stalks. But they work great and I am glad ot have them. Two years into my MXP and I still hated the lack of stalks.

Thanks for the kudos! I did not power down the car. In another thread, folks there were adamant about powering down the car due to the chance of the airbag deploying. I didn't even think about it until reading their posts. My install went smoothly. Yes, all of the functions on the yoke and...

I struggled with this too - the ethernet port is so tall is was bumping into something inside. I had to mess with it for a couple of minutes and it felt like I needed to hold it as low as possible agains the phone cradle, move it straight back, and then move the whole thing up and clip it.

Get the new upper trim piece that came with the kit. Fully attach the bit of pleather and set it into place. It will take a bit of fiddling to get the small inserts installed but they will fit. The one with the post goes on the left (turn signal side). I ended up having to shove the post...

Ford CEO promises L3 highway by 2026

Yes, Ford certainly can. The reason is that Ford is not bound by Elon's wannabe-engineer limitations on the sensor suite. Elon has crippled FSD by mandating vision only. But... but.... People can drive with only their eyes so cars should be able to as well! While this makes intuitive sense...

How to install other Apps to Tesla? Is there something like the App store and Google store?

In the context of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, you are correct. But since 2012, Elon has been promising an SDK to allow people to build apps that would run in the car. Let's be honest, nearly all "apps" are just pretty front ends to a web-based application. The system is already...

Terrible service experience, why my 2023 Model S is a regrettable purchase

I appreciate you sharing your story. Fundamentally, the problem with Tesla is that they only care about the stock price. Wall Street only cares about the numbers of vehicles produced and delivered. So there is every incentive to ship poorly built vehicles and also push the customer into...

Feeling scammed on FSD retrofit. Am I in the wrong?

Even if the app couldn't keep track of all of the permutations, the SC should have let you know when you brought it in for the AP3 upgrade. They should have told you that FSD wasn't currently available with MCU1 cars and give you the option to cancel the upgrade. I guess the bigger question...

Can I turn off TACC and just get speed controlled cruise (phantom braking issue again)

Sadly there is no way to go back to straight CC. The code is there because the 1st gen MS has it. In the past Tesla has said that it would confuse people who might think they've engaged TACC and only have straight CC and would then cause an accident. But IMO phantom braking could cause...

Tesla FSD V12 vs Mercedes Driver Assist Video by Whole Mars Catalog on YouTube.com

The MB system is Level 3 on mapped highways. Did I Just Get Unlucky?

These are build quality issues. Tesla's QA is very poor. So yes, you are just unlucky. Keep taking it back for service until they either fix everything or it triggers the lemon law in your state. Read up on your state's requirements and document everything. Hopefully they either do finally...

What am I getting with Plaid vs Long Range?

I have a 6 seat MXP and it is very close to a minivan. I went to it from a Roadster for exactly that reason - needed to be able to haul kids to all of their activities. FWDs are huge and Captains chairs that slide forward to access the 3rd row makes it very minivan like. Car seats fit great...

    Luminar’s largest customer: Tesla

Or the objective fact that no one is anywhere close to L3 without it. Agreed. Elon can blame the govt instead of having to admit he was wrong (I'm still shocked that he caved on the wheel for the S/X) and it avoids thousands of lawsuits from people who bought FSD and will never receive it.

All I know is, TACC and AP still don't work - I get regular phantom braking. I tried FSD when they gave us the 1 month trial and it was painful. Like "15 year old the day they get their permit" level of crappiness. Constant ping-ponging in the lane, always reacting to things that could...

Great points. Elon is famous for removing things before the replacement works. I have no problem with using the cameras to operate the wipers, but they removed the dedicated rain sensor in 2016 and the wipers weren't usable until 2022. They removed USS before Vision was able to replicate the...

    The anti-Tesla EV lovers

As @rlzalusky said, FSD is an expensive option. The car needs to work for people without FSD. Also, FSD simply doesn't work in the use cases for a 360 view, like parking or navigating places that aren't defined streets. But like everything Tesla has taken it too far. I would not put a new...

Local Electric Company wants EV owners to pay for upgrading neighborhood infrastructure.

No question that there are limits and as I said in my post, for new construction, the utilities definitely need to be involved so they can plan for the increased usage. How is that any different than running out of gas on a desolate highway or having to refuel in a sketchy neighborhood? Local Electric Company wants EV owners to pay for upgrading neighborhood infrastructure.

How or why? Around here, the power company is not involved in the permitting process for new outlets. It is purely a code inspection by the county. Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

That would be useful info. Tesla decided to use the existing 3/Y steering column in the refreshed S/X - that is why the 3/Y stalks are even an option. The question will be whether Tesla redesigned the steering column for Highland to remove the places for the stalks to reside or left it as it...

Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea to open the midgate for mulch or something, but lumber that sits on the bottom would be fine. Heck I put a towel on the arm rest and put lumber in between the seats on my Jeep Grand Cherokee - leave the rear glass open for the lumber to stick out the back...

So much for Tesla's no resale clause - 11 Cybertrucks currently on Ebay

But there's no reason to pay $200k to get one "right now". 4 wheel steering is not new. GM has had it for decades on trucks. Porsche as well. Tesla has some of the worst suspension in the business (ride quality and robustness) so copying anything they've done would be a step backwards...
