Model 3 Door Handles - Here is how they actually work

So, an electric motor to drive the door open? There's a definite sound of a motor running when the handle is pulled, and an almost imperceptible lag between pulling the handle and the door beginning to open. I was hoping for a purely mechanical door, to eliminate a point of failure.

PC monitor on dash good design?

You may recall that the S and X prototypes had a similar setup for the "monitor", but they became integrated as the design progressed to production. I expect the same of the 3.

Model 3 skateboard chassis to be available separately?

So I suppose I'll have to buy a 3 when they enter CPO, and tear the body off... I wonder how possible that is to do, while retaining the seats and other interior features.

Model 3 skateboard chassis to be available separately?

At least one site seems to believe that the skateboard will be available for general purchase, to allow people to build their own bodies over the top and/or transplant bodies from other cars. Now, I can't buy a 3 because I live in a... troubled area of England; I could, however, buy an old...

Elon at it again on Twitter

Mm, a commenter on Reddit had an interesting theory: "next level" may refer to level-three or level-four autonomy, as defined by the NHTSA. That list describes the S as "level-two" at the present time, since it's highway-capable but not sensible for surface streets as yet; it'd make sense for...

Pricing of options, I hope the Model 3 is reasonable.

I can verify that manufacturers will charge for different colours: my Hyundai was purchased new and was only available in red. Every other colour offered (five of them, if I recall) was an extra £500 above base. Given that I bought this car at the base configuration, I think I'll be fairly...

Plug-in Car Grant: Will it still be available for Model 3?

So the Wikipedia page for the PICG states: Now, the model 3 is slated for initial release (of high-end models to Tesla employees on the US West Coast) at the end of 2017... I seriously doubt the UK will see any 3's before the March 2018 date passes. Is there a chance, do you think, of the PICG...

Wiki Learn About SpaceX: Acronyms, Abbreviations, and Data Links

For what it's worth, I'm the maintainer of the acronym expansion bot (Decronym) for Reddit's SpaceX community, so there's a fairly comprehensive list of acronyms here: Decronym Some of the expansions link to Wikipedia articles or (in one case) YouTube videos on the subject, but more links and...

Pricing of options, I hope the Model 3 is reasonable.

A post in the main 3 forum stated a hope that the options will scale with the base cost: so if AP on a model S is $2500, AP on a 3 should be $1000 or $1250. That maintains the cost of the options as a percentage of the base, while making everything cheaper. I know I'd be hard pressed to justify...

How will you use your Model 3

Mostly as a daily driver for the school run across town, so I won't be taking it too far. On the rare sunny day (even England gets one of those per year) I may take it on some of the great mountain roads around here, and see how it compares to the go-kart'ish hatchback I own now.

    SpaceX Falcon 9 FT launch - CRS 8 - SLC-40

There's also a picture of the first stage en route to the Cape; gives a good sense of scale for the thing, if you consider the diameter is around 12ft.

If You're Reserving -what car are you coming from?

Hyundai i10, first gen (2008-10). It doesn't have electric mirrors, or remote central locking, or even an Intermittent setting for the wiper. This should be quite the upgrade.
