Great Job ! I suppose you 've been performing all this testing/probing with the TWC 's DIP-switch 2 in the UP position (=Default) ? What if you put that one in the DOWN position ? Apparently, that puts this EVSE in a more generic J1772 mode - not using any (Tesla proprietary) CAN-bus...

@tga: Be carefull not to mix "HPWC" (old Gen I) and "TWC" (new Gen II) devices in this sort of discussions. Before you know, people are talking about completely different hardware ...;) Of course: all info is welcome !

Noticed these power-related "mods" too ... Be careful there ! Especially make sure you don't create a ground loop between the TWC (=DUT) and your "testing equipment".

Aha ... The JTAG device the Tesla Ranger was using in this old post: Model S - HPWC (High Power Wall Connector), turns out to be this puppy: Spectrum Digital 's XDS100V2 USB JTAG Emulator ! Texas Instruments' (TI) wiki on XDS100 ... Lots of clones to be found on the interweb ;-)

That component QB3 is almost certainly some sort of Linear Regulator (à la LM317 et co.) ! Anyway, thanks (!) a lot for those photos. I perfectly understand you don't want to disassemble that PCB. I was just curious. Can't help but feel there are more components on that PCB then needed ...

Have a look at the first page of this old thread HPWC Hacking: wk057 managed to reverse engineer the Front-panel LEDs on the old HPWC ... Don't know if this is still the same on the new TWC ? On the controller side (SBC), you might consider a "RPi-clone" like an OrangePi Zero (or one of it...

@CDragon: I would take a chance with CNA8 (White 7x2 Box Header - Lower left corner) ... I guess that 's probably a 14-pin JTAG connector. Be careful ... There is no such thing as a "standard 14-pin JTAG connector" layout ! A google image search and some probing around with you scope and/or...

I had a closer look at this. Only had the file “tesla hpwc log.txt” (see above, thanks ctr) to work from. I have no access to any Tesla hardware (yet) ! So I ‘m not sure about the methodology used, the timing(s) & direction of those signals ... I rearranged the data, but let the “0000” packets...
