    Maxing out AP1

It's actually a nightmare even with just TACC on. It gets 'lost' and slows down massively if you have a destination plugged into the GPS. The other big issue is if you turn it all off if you try and set any destination it just dies until you get to Cassegrain. The maps should be something that...

Supercharger - Coffs Harbour (Big Banana)

At both stops at Coffs we had a lot of interest in the car and the chargers. Lots of odd looks too and people trying to figure out why the car was plugged in. Some interesting comments about "who makes the car"...."Tesla"....."not the chargers"..."they're both Tesla, Tesla make the car and build...

Supercharger - Coffs Harbour (Big Banana)

It was not there yesterday when I drove through Coffs at around lunch time. It was on the map heading north on the 7th.

Soon to be a new Model S owner in Melbourne, suggestions?

Ray....did you read the title?? BTW there's a healthy chance I'll be in Brisvegas next week, keen for another couple of Sandgate beers?

    Supercharger - Cooma NSW

Extremely poor behaviour. Warrants a name and shame!!! they're actually blocking three spots if you look at the image above they could have pulled right up or diagonally parked across two bays if for some reason the bike racks we're causing an issue. Regardless this is ICE-hole typical behaviour.

    Supercharger - Bathurst NSW

Syd-Orange is no sweat and should only require one charge at Bathurst. Extremely comfortable distance especially with a 100 kW anything. I have driven from Coal Point (Newcastle) to Lithgow which swallows up most of the elevation change and just 20 km less. It did it comfortably and on the way...

60 Minutes Australia interviews Elon Musk

Agreed, when I heard the blunt statement about energy poverty I said to my wife, 'he won't know how to react to this'. He seemed extremely emotional at such a wealthy country being in a power crisis.

Any Tesla Model X available in the NSW region?

I can help out with a S P90D if you cannot make an X work. I know of only one X in the Hunter Valley and I am pretty certain it is not available for hire. Evoke are excellent, and they definitely know a thing or two about the Valley.

    Supercharger - Clare SA

I think it was a site that in all likelihood had everything available (land and power) and from the pics I have seen they're very welcoming. Sometimes availability will trump convenience, especially when Australia is a bit backward when it comes o all things electric car and renewable energy...

Worlds largest battery to be installed in South Australia by Tesla

Exactly!! This is what I was referring to with old school thinking. 'Base load' is nothing more than a fabricated term to help simple people think that the 'only' way to generate power is in a centralised hub and spoke model. Huge 'continual' generators in the hub and vast vast infrastructure...

Worlds largest battery to be installed in South Australia by Tesla

@Dborn I'm sorry mate, but what a lot of tosh, very easy to reveal your political colours when you cannot see the menace in the article. The SA government is making an investment in its very own energy future. If grid prices spike to $14,000/MWh like they did recently then guess what.....the...

    Supercharger - Horsham (VIC)

Coffs harbour has a sled as well. The key thing to think about with a sled is you need a business/location that has pretty decent connection to the grid that is available. Perhaps a redundant business that had large motorised equipment, a milling shop or timber mill(I have no idea what is in, or...

    Supercharger - Clare SA

It's fantastic just how quickly Tesla put this together. It would be great if this also gets some publicity too as well as the battery, granted that some of the iniital work would hav eben done to locate the site etc, but the actual delivery of the sites seemed extremely rapid. That is the truly...

    Tesla battery event Hornsdale

Great to see Tesla stepping up and supplying a monster battery, then to get as big a charge of Teslas together as they can for a publicity launch event, they 'supercharge' the construction of the Supercharger Highway!!! The Highway to Adelaide was slated by end of '17. Now we have Clare added...

    Supercharger-Adelaide (SA)

For something this advanced they would have dug in the mains feed to the local switchboard already. I imagine in an inner city location they would have looked for a site with spare capacity on an existing substation.

    Modifications

@Dborn strikes again. Looks great. Did you opt for the colour matched centre of grill piece instead of the chrome effect standard or was that just how it came? What's next for Red Devil? Parcel shelf and an interior light kit are definitely on the horizon for Hermione, probably the licence plate...

Independent Fuel Stations and EV charging

I think it would be interesting to see how they would feel being collectively left on that large ice shelf breaking off Greenland at the minute. Global warming doesn't exist right??? One would expect that would have no issues with it at all, the 'cycle' will correct and it will be all gravy.

    Model X Range

We had similar issues between Melbourne and Albury-Wodonga. We left with 85% charge at 4 am and 5 oC outside. I was hoping to skip Euroa but the heater just sucked the battery far to quick. I lost 15% over my calcs between Melb and Euroa. Thus far the heater has been the biggest blight on range...

I don't think Ballarat is an indication of pace on this route Lennier, for Sydney to Brisbane, Port was installed very early in the year (around March maybe?) and then the rest of the chargers opened in December. Although, Tesla have kept their promise both years and hvae had Syd-Melb completed...

Just got the 12v battery needs replacing warning after 5 months

Nope, no record for you!! I picked mine up in December and had it back in February for this and the AC. They were confident that the battery was fine but the car was not happy with it so they put a new one in. Same with the AC, minor valve malfunction that they were confident was fixed but they...

    Supercharger - Horsham (VIC)

Plus the fact that every single car currently charging at the stations has been charging for free. I would expect Tesla to be sitting on a pretty reasonable loss for their operational activities in Australia. I can see the SC network getting a reasonable pump after 2018 if there are a lot of 3s...

Has anyone obtained a Powerwall 2 installation quote yet?

Simbul, the other thing you may find is that if it is rural or semi rural and needs a connection or you need to extend any existing connection there are some serious dollars to trump up just for that. Some friends of mine were quoted $35k to 'connect' to the grid, that was going to pay for the...

I just think they haven't got enough cars here to warrant the vast expense of the superchargers. Each year we get more cars and they build more superchargers. They get a lot more bang for their buck with the destination chargers. Hopefully in five years time all of Australia will be covered and...

In an 85 you should be able to get from Castlemaine to Horsham and only stop for an hour or so and then onto Keith for a longer charge (5 hrs or so @11 kW) or an overnight. Do the reverse on the way back. With an 85 leaving at 100% this trip can should be done in with one short charge and long...
