Lyman State Park (AZ) - EV charging?

I'm seeing conflicting things online about EV charging availability; we're heading out this coming weekend from Phoenix. Wondering if anyone can confirm that the cabins have power hookups and what they might be?

Supercharger - South San Francisco, CA (LIVE, 20 urban stalls)

Bird’s eye view, looks like the chargers themselves are in place too. The boxes at the bottom look to be part of the renovation of the top two floors of the hotel (bathtubs/etc).

Supercharger - South San Francisco, CA (LIVE, 20 urban stalls)

I drove through here last night, there were no covers on the pedestals and no cones in the spots. There were cars parked in the spots, some of them Teslas, but I didn't notice whether they were plugged in or just parked there. I unfortunately have a rental car so I can't plug in and find out...

Supercharger - Phoenix, AZ - Agua Fria Freeway

I'm certain that I was accidentally using 'ideal' instead of 'rated' numbers for mileage at the time, but the 115kW was accurate. It was by far the fastest I've seen. Even took a picture.

thoughts on trading in a 2016 tesla 75d model s for performance model 3

I sold my 75D Facelift AP1 and purchased a Model 3 Performance less than two months ago. I do not regret this at all. The S was definitely the more "luxurious" car. I still think the S looks better than the 3 on the outside and I still think it felt more "premium" on the inside. That said...

Supercharger - Phoenix, AZ - Agua Fria Freeway

Three stalls didn't work today (3A, 3B, and 7A) - plug in and nothing. Reported to Tesla. Seems like constant problems at this place. 4A and 6A, on the other hand, charged faster than I've ever seen: 115 kW / 483 mi/hr on my S70.

Can a LR Model 3 do Phoenix to Vegas with no Supercharging?

Don't know why I didn't consider this. I like the idea of stopping at the Henderson SC if Kingman is backed up, too. On the way home Kingman doesn't really matter because I've never seen Wickenburg full.

Can a LR Model 3 do Phoenix to Vegas with no Supercharging?

As mentioned, it's not just a ten minute stop. Kingman has six stalls and out of probably 40 trips, 80% of them were at least half full and probably half as many were totally full with cars waiting. Charging takes ten minutes but waiting at a full charger delivering half capacity can take an...

Can a LR Model 3 do Phoenix to Vegas with no Supercharging?

That's the thing, I'm really trying to avoid the Kingman supercharger. It's always at least half full, it's only six stalls, and there's nothing around it that isn't a Carl's Jr. I like that it's right off the highway, but when you get there and two other Teslas are already waiting in line, no...

Can a LR Model 3 do Phoenix to Vegas with no Supercharging?

Currently a 2016.5 Model S owner looking to migrate to a Model 3 for newer Autopilot, etc. I make a lot of trips between Phoenix and Las Vegas, and can make it to Kingman without stopping in Wickenburg but it's really close (generally I'm pulling in at 2% or less battery). Wondering if the Model...

Depreciation on Model S is Horrible

Yeah, I figured it was low. But it doesn't look that far off. I've seen vroom mentioned in here before and went through them as well, and they came in at $33,000. There's of course a lot of playing with numbers (considering $10k in rebates + $8k in gas savings since I've never paid for charging...

Depreciation on Model S is Horrible

Just wanted to add another data point to this thread as my MS75 just hit its third birthday last week and out of curiosity I sent in for a trade-in appraisal with Tesla. I just got my trade-in quote back: Purchased in California, $87,077.25 (including CA tax), $79,741.25 (excluding CA tax)...

    White vs Grey seats?

My biggest regret about my build is the white headliner since it's so far off from the grey interior. But when I bought it, the black required the upgrade package and it wasn't worth it to me. To the OP, I've got an end-of-June 2016 S75 with the light grey interior and it looks just like what...

    First look v.9!

I think some people forget that part! My AP1 is a refresh from the last week of June 2016. A car OS shouldn't go 'obsolete' faster than phone OS. I definitely understand not getting all the new features that AP2/AP2.5/etc might get, but continuing to support AP1 cars with new updates is hugely...

    Supercharger - Cupertino, CA (LIVE 28 Mar 2018, 10 V2 stalls)

A valet queueing system could work using the spaces across from the chargers. Problem at Cupertino is that space is at a premium and I don't know if the garage would be willing to give up that much of it. San Mateo valet works because there's room on the roof to queue vehicles, and then the...

    2017 Model S60D - annoyances

I'd guess a lot of people who own Teslas nowadays are in the same situation. I rent, and my complex isn't blanketed with wifi. My signal barely reaches my parking space and is basically useless (the connection isn't solid enough to maintain long enough for downloading updates), and if I plug the...

    Supercharger - Cupertino, CA (LIVE 28 Mar 2018, 10 V2 stalls)

Oh, and no Edit button so I'll just add this here - while charging, I ate at Panino Giusto yesterday and it was so good I went back today to do the exact same thing. The food is served very fast and isn't a large serving, perfect if you need 20-30 minutes of charger time. One of the best...

    Supercharger - Cupertino, CA (LIVE 28 Mar 2018, 10 V2 stalls)

There was a parking attendant wearing a Tesla hat yesterday around 1 PM when I went here to charge and grab lunch (the hotel I'm staying at hasn't had available chargers any time I've looked). Unfortunately it isn't valet service, he had a cone and was blocking off a few parking spaces across...

    What's your 90%?

July 2016 Refresh S70 - Upgraded/unlocked to S75 in June 2017 - 52k miles - 100% battery is currently 231 miles. Not sure of 90% but I feel like the past few posts might make it a little arbitrary anyway.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

To provide a counter point, I've got a July 2016 (refresh) with 55k and haven't had any issues that I'm aware of. Though, granted, I don't check them very often. Now that I'm out of warranty I guess I should never check them again.

Jet engine LOUD fan in hot weather. Really?

Agreed that it happens all the time here, especially if cabin overheat is turned on. Disagree about it sounding cool though! It's loud enough that I'm worried neighbors near our charging stations are going to start to complain when it happens at night, and people at work pretty consistently let...

Parking in two spots to block “B” stall

I arrived at Kingman AZ the other day and there was a Tesla parked literally diagonally. The chargers are set up 123123, so it wasn't even someone thinking they were blocking a pairing! Worse, because it's only a six stall charger and two other cars were there, I had to park in a way that...

Model S 75D Long Trip Questions

Theoretically, you'll probably get the fastest charge by running as low as possible from your initial 100%, then charging the absolute minimum needed to make it to the next charger. There are three big problems though -- You probably don't want to do the speed limit the whole way Weather can...

Car going to SC for AC issue

I don't think that's too unusual around here. I passed my 50,000 mile mark at month 19.

    Air conditioning diverted to battery

In all my cases, about two minutes into the AC blowing warmer, a small "!" appears at the top of the center screen, which you can touch to see the warning about the AC being diverted. I haven't had an opportunity to reach out to Tesla yet, but I did (again) turn on the air and verify that I can...

    Air conditioning diverted to battery

As mentioned earlier, I never use range mode and confirmed that it's off. Thanks everyone - I'll give Tesla a call about the remote diagnostic. Got a trip from PHX to Las Vegas in about two weeks and would hate to do it with a half-functional air conditioner on large segments of the trip!

    Air conditioning diverted to battery

Hmm... ran into this again today, but just while driving home from work, not even on a road trip. 109 degrees outside according to the dash, and I had driven 22.4 miles / 32 minutes when the alert came on. Air diverted for about 3-4 minutes. Happening on a road trip was less concerning; if it's...

Definitive S Refresh Front Plate Bracket Removal

For those of you who bought the 3D printed one - is there anyone in the Phoenix area that would loan the tool for a few bucks? Mine are on there good enough that the rubber band technique didn't work (I haven't tried epoxy yet). I also will be driving through LA, SF, and Sacramento next month...

    Air conditioning diverted to battery

I've got a mobile service guy coming out tomorrow to deal with some recall items and I figure I'll ask him about it while he's here. I have no idea if the louvres are working the way they're supposed to. They look clear. But, today I had the air conditioning diverted again when I went to lunch...

Bluetooth phone as key is coming to Model S and Model X

Basically everywhere on Earth nowadays has a Micro USB or Lightning charger you can use for five minutes to power on your phone long enough to get into and start the car. And, as much as I think they're a giant waste, there are "disposable" battery packs you can pick up for $5-$10 that have a 5+...

    Air conditioning diverted to battery

I never use range mode. Agreed about the diagram, very cool looking. I would imagine when the car is reporting temperatures in excess of 110 and you're driving on hot asphalt with no shade, that it's pretty easy to hit 125 degrees. It hasn't happened in the days since, but I've mostly done...

    Air conditioning diverted to battery

Excellent data point, thank you. I don't do a ton of 115-degree 80-mph driving since traffic mostly prevents that. My bigger worry was that it was going to be an everyday thing while commuting/etc. For everyone else who replied, I'm going to check the intakes tomorrow and make sure they're...

    Air conditioning diverted to battery

I moved back to Phoenix recently, and noticed on a few recent road trips that my AC would blow warmer than usual for a short period of time. There was never a notification of what was happening, and I assumed it was just a fluke. On today's trip from Tucson to Phoenix, though, I noticed that...

Tesla Rip Off- Full Self Driving

I mean, I feel like the website's description of "Full Self-Driving Capability" would be enough ... you know, since that's what people are paying for now. "This doubles the number of active cameras from four to eight, enabling full self-driving in almost all circumstances, at what we believe...

Tesla Rip Off- Full Self Driving

Not that Tesla called me and asked, but to me the perfect situation would be the option to sign up (and commit, non-refundable) for FSD at $3,000 when purchasing the vehicle, but not be billed for it until it was released. Once the car downloads the FSD upgrade, you receive a $3,000 bill in the...

NorCal: Who uses the I-680 and I-580 Express Lanes?

For those of you placing the transponder somewhere other than the windshield, and possibly those who are putting it behind the shaded black area next to the mirror -- mine is in the latter, and I showed a friend of mine that it works reliably there. He mounted his in the same spot in his car...

    Tracking the new maps rollout

I'm in Phoenix and I think my car may have tried to get the new maps the other day; I went outside and the car booted slowly, with the dash coming on but no center screen. I've had a slow boot happen before so I started driving anyway. The items on the dash then started to disappear -- bluetooth...

Model S reaching 4 years old or 50 000 miles

Ugh, I meant to take mine in for this. :( I just passed 50,000 the other day on my July 2016. I won't be doing the extended warranty simply because if I keep driving the way I am, it's really only lasting me a year and a half to two years at most anyway. I travel a lot. I'm crossing my fingers...

Supercharger - Phoenix, AZ - Agua Fria Freeway

If for some reason this charger is down while you're here, the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort isn't far from there and has a couple Tesla chargers. I've used them in emergency situations and they don't mind at all; I've never seen another Tesla charging there, actually. There's a great...

Supercharger - Hollister, CA (Casa De Fruta, LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 20 stalls)

Stopped here today, never saw it on the map before and was stuck behind slow traffic heading to Gustine anyway. 20 chargers, I’m the only one here. The parking lot you drive through is pretty awful so be careful in the rain, potholes are hidden. Also, a fantastic view of the diesel fuel...

Car not turning off when exiting the vehicle

I've only had this happen when using summon, from my key fob. It has happened twice in the past two months or so -- move the car with summon (usually further into my parking space since there's a pole in the way), stop it/cancel summon when it's where i want it to be, and notice that the...

    Supercharger - Quartzsite, AZ

My personal experience has been that during the day it isn’t uncommon to be asked for change from panhandlers, and that the crowd at the Carl’s Jr. is a pretty rough mix. The restrooms have typically been a wreck, there’s at least one or two people there with luggage or their clothes in a...

    Supercharger - Quartzsite, AZ

That makes sense. Buckeye AZ has the newer pedestals and I thought those were older style too, but can't be certain. I don't use it much. Quartzsite was definitely upgraded though. Still sketchy at night!
  47. Z

    Supercharger - Quartzsite, AZ

I can’t find a Quartzsite supercharger thread in the Southwest forum so I’ll mention it here. I think they just got new cabinets. Not sure how many there were before but there are 8 pedastals now and they’re the light-up logo variety. (I swear only a few weeks ago they were the older style.)

    Supercharger - Cabazon, CA (16 V2 stalls)

45 minutes later, eight of sixteen still here with nobody in them. That means they’ve been parked for at least an hour. I guess the idle fees are worth it!
  49. Z

    Supercharger - Cabazon, CA (16 V2 stalls)

This place is the worst. Even with 16 stalls it’s not unusual to have a 30 minute wait because everyone goes shopping. The good thing is, when you finally get one it’s generally full speed because the person you’re pairing with hasn’t actually been charging in a while.

    Destination Charger help please

Agreed. Even with worst case stats in EVTripPlanner, that's a 161 RM trip (and that's with the heat on, and 21" wheels, and 500 pounds of weight). Keep it under 100 mph and you should be fine.
