Can one request a supercharger location to Tesla?

I sent in a similar suggestion a while back, but for the Legends area north of I-70 instead of the unnamed development south of I-70. There are a lot of restaurants and stores already in the Legends area. I think the pin in the current map for the new KC location is not meant to specify an...

    Normal voltage drop while charging

When charging using the UMC in my garage, and monitoring the voltage and current with the phone app, I've noticed that the voltage drops 5-6 volts between the first measurement, often at 0 or 1 amps, and when the current draw hits the expected 40 amps. I usually start at 249 volts, and it drops...

August 21 Total Solar Eclipse - Kentucky

I'm shooting for St. Joseph, MO. But I'm not sure whether it would be best to just go there or whether to stage in Kansas City and then either go north to St. Joseph or east to Columbia depending on the weather. Unless traffic is horrific, there should be plenty of time for travel the...

    Service manual and wiring diagrams

Wow. Someone else old enough to remember Usenet. I get blank stares when I tell people there was an Internet before there was a Web.

    Firmware 8.0

This isn't exactly what you're talking about because you mentioned "every screen"... But if the night time view bothers you, and it certainly bothered me to the point that I disabled the auto-switch, note that you can up the brightness and it looks *much* better to my eyes.

    Tesla moments

On a recent trip I checked into a hotel. For car registration make and license tag, I entered "Tesla" and "BATTMBL". (Battery mobile, get it?) After checking out of the hotel, plans changed and I came back and re-checked into the same hotel, same desk clerk. Before I filled out the...

    Firmware 8.0

I've seen the advice to reboot the CID after an update, and I routinely do that now. But I don't understand... How could a large update like 8.0 not reboot everything as part of the process?

    Firmware 8.0

I just got the update too. My timing wasn't as precise as @bmah's, but it was between 1:05 and 1:10.

Slow-down or Stop at Level-2 Charger?

She said something about a stopped clock -- and then I stopped listening. :-)

    Firmware 8.0

I don't think it is as simple as a checkbox for fold/not fold when Homelink is activated. In my situation, whether I press the Homelink button depends on whether I'm first leaving for work/arriving home -- in other words, random. Worse, since there is no Homelink "Open" and "Close", it is just...

Slow-down or Stop at Level-2 Charger?

Am I missing something? At 75MPH, the total trip time would be 1 hour driving time (75 miles/75MPH) *plus* the 1.33 hours charge time (8 kWh/6 kW) -- for a total time of 2.33 hours. Doesn't slowing down win by a landslide?

Charging Reduced From 40A to 30A

No. You'd think a 14-50 is intended for 50 amps, and that indeed is its maximum capacity. But... Cars are considered a "continuous load", and the National Electric Code limits continuous loads to 80% of the circuit capacity -- thus the 40 amp limit. To get over 40 amps, you need to use the...

    Auto Raise (Suspension) glitch?

I've paid attention in my last few commutes, and I don't think what I said above is completely correct. I wasn't able to get the first lowering (from very high to high) to happen until about 34 MPH. Monitoring for the second lowering, I was able to go a steady 44 without triggering it. But...

Supercharger only maintaining high amps for short periods, normal?

Is this something different than the normal taper as the battery fills up? As Telsa explains in: Supercharger | Tesla Charging each cell is like filling a glass of water without spilling. As the glass fills up, you reduce the flow to catch every last drop. In battery terms, this means...

    Auto Raise (Suspension) glitch?

I don't think it raises solely based on leaving the location. It lowers from very high to high when you hit 22 MPH, and from high to standard when you hit 34 MPH.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Congrats. I've got good news too. My car is scheduled to reach the Kansas City Service Center Friday, and a Saturday delivery may be possible. Otherwise, Monday. Erik and I both ordered 4/9 and confirmed 4/17. I feel sorry for others that ordered that day or earlier. The silver lining from...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

For those keeping score at home... Eric and I ordered the same day. He went into production one day before me, but my delivery estimate range is now one day before his -- I'm June 2 - 9. I'm taking delivery in Kansas City, and I've been told that the KC Service Center is the only midwest SC...

Did people who ordered just before the price bump get the refresh at no extra $$?

I'm in the group that ordered before the refresh announcement, but my 1-week confirmation timer was after the announcement. And although I haven't received the car yet, the price increase did not take effect for me. But I'll get the new front end, etc. So, in a word: yes. I don't know how...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

My Tesla just switched to "in production". No automated email yet, but I presume that is imminent. My DS expects delivery between June 15 and June 20. My Tesla still says "June - Early July", which it has for a while. Confirmed: 4/17, VIN 1393xx.

Check Out My New Model S - with Refresh, and Photos

Congratulations on your new baby! Somewhere in these forums I remember someone asserting that they can't legally take it off. But they may be willing to let you borrow the fancy pentalobe (or whatever) driver that will undo the screws.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

"My Tesla" is now back to the previous "Late May - June". In my mind, this is more ammunition to my thesis that there is too much noise and variability in the data to help predict when a given order will be completed. But, it is fun to speculate, so I imagine we'll all keep doing it.

    Hud?

I'd guess that Tesla would learn from their hubris problems with the Model X, and not try to push the technology on a lower-end car with tight deadlines.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I still had a window open to My Tesla on a different computer. I had it right the first time: I was "Late May - June" and am now "June - Early July". Really only a 2-week delay after all.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I just got the email and switched delivery time from "Late May - June" to "June - Early July". Really only a 2-week delay. I'm going to be down to a 2001 Ford Focus with no A/C soon. :-( EDIT: actually, I think it was "May -Early June" before this change, so it is a 4-week delay.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

That makes sense... but the two cars don't have that much in common: Chris P ordered a 70, white, black next-gen seats, piano black interior Jumper ordered a 90D, deep blue metallic, tan next-gen seats, matt obeche interior, jump seats Both ordered pano, premium, autopilot, and the subzero...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Proof that the exact timing of orders is mysterious: Chris P and Jumper ordered 13 days apart, and production started the same day. Both are going to Illinois, so there should be no "build cars that take longer to deliver" effect on these two. I'm two days earlier than Jumper, and my DS says...

    Tips for new Tesla owners.

The chart linked above is more comprehensive and accurate. But my rule of thumb is that with today's low gas prices, the electricity cost of the model S is about 1/3 of the gas price of a ICE car.

@bobjustbob: You are farther ahead of me than I thought -- 9 days. I was confirmed 4/17. @Brtflyl8e: I'm going to go with Tuesday evening. But mostly because the sooner his starts, the sooner mine starts. :)

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

DÆrik Solutions, you and I are twins in the sense that we both ordered on 4/9, confirmed 4/17. Bobjustbob, I assume you're very similar. My status has always been "Late May - June". My DS guessed that the week of June 6 would be "D week". :) Kinda odd to think that our cars might be on the...

By 2030, 100% of cars will be electric & 100% of power will be from solar. True or false?

If I had to guess, I'd guess 40% would be closer to the end result. That sounds bad, but really there is a lot of inertia in the whole system, and changes just take a long time. For example, I recently saw a statistic that the median car age in the US is 11.5 years. 2030 is only 14 years...

    Customers in 1-week grace period

Interesting that they are different. I just now reloaded the page, and mine is still shows the old options. For example, it shows Premium Interior and Lighting, not Premium Upgrades Package. I doubt if it matters much -- I'm sure the car will be perfect!

    Customers in 1-week grace period

I'm in a very similar time range -- my order confirms Saturday. The picture in My Tesla shows the updated front, but the options are the previous set, minus Piano Black. Nonetheless, Telsa told me I'd get Piano Black. Which is fine with me -- I like it better than any of the options, new or old.
