    Garage Prep

+1 for HPWC and keeping the UMC in your trunk for charging away from home. You really don't want to have to unplug, coil, and pack the UMC every time you charge at home, its a pain in the ass. Buying another UMC is basically the same price as a HPWC anyways.

Be honest: is SCing on a long trip annoying?

Just did a SoCal Vegas roundtrip and stopped at all the SpCs just to scout out the locations for future reference; every one of them had at least three empty stalls. Keep in mind this is Friday evening to Vegas and Sunday afternoon back to SoCal (typical heavy traffic times). Also did a...

Be honest: is SCing on a long trip annoying?

Just recently did my first road trip from orange county to Vegas and back. Stopped by Barstow SpC on the way to Vegas, charged briefly at the Vegas SpC, then did Primm and Victoria Gardens on the way back. I wouldn't call it annoying since the bathroom breaks and food stops are necessary...

AEB triggered by roadside car breakdown

Fair enough, thanks for the clarification. It's a rather nuanced differentiation. I'm pretty sure it AEB because TACC is never as sudden and aggressive in its deceleration. In this particular instance, the FCW and AEB kicked in very aggressively to decelerate the car as I got near the tow...

AEB triggered by roadside car breakdown

interesting scenario today that I thought I'd share to see if anyone else has had a similar experience. I was on the freeway headed to work with AP engaged in the right lane getting ready to exit when I noticed a a car and tow truck in the breakdown lane to my right. I was curious as to...

    Tesla Loaners

The non-AP cruise control shifter threw me off as well. I kept engaging it when trying to engage my turn signal. I'm guessing that placement threw a lot of people off which is why they moved the AP shifter beneath the turn signal on the AP enabled cars. Re-reading my original post, it seems...

    Tesla Loaners

I'm curious what everyone's experiences have been with Tesla Loaners. We took our MS in for a rear view mirror chrome plate replacement. The tint shop we used messed up and their heat gun damaged the chrome finish. Anyways, long story short, we got a loaner MS 85 for the day. The car itself...

    SEC Opening Inquiry

There are plenty of things that the SEC can do as part of the investigation without contacting Tesla. The SEC can be fact checking and investigating the timeline of events based on Tesla's disclosures and public statements since the accident. If the investigation is ongoing, eventually the...

    SEC Opening Inquiry

This story has been debated ad nauseam since it broke last week. Suffice to say there are plenty of entrenched positions on both sides of the argument. My personal feeling is that Tesla's marketing department won out over their legal department in the use of the turn Autopilot but I love the...

PSA: Switching to Time-of-Use Electrical Billing

Interesting, I just assumed it was widely available in other states as well. I'm curious to know what rates you pay for electricity because at tier three rates of 29 cents/kWh in SoCal, charging the Tesla isn't much cheaper than buying gas. SCE's TOU has peak at 2-8PM so its a little easier...

PSA: Switching to Time-of-Use Electrical Billing

Depending on your billing cycle, call your utility provider well in advance of taking delivery of your Tesla to make sure you are on their TOU plan by the time you take delivery of your car and start charging at home. SoCal Edison is my electricity provider and I called them to switch over to...

EZ-Pass transponder mounting on refreshed nosecone-less Model S

Can anyone confirm if this actually works? Still trying to figure out where to mount my SoCal FastTrak Transponder. Trying to avoid having to use the trunk shelf if I can get it to work on the windshield. Thanks!

    Tesla moments

This is probably the first of many tesla moments I'll have but my wife and I took delivery yesterday. Needless to say once we got home, I spent an hour in the car in the garage playing around with the settings/profiles etc. the garage door was closed and AC was on in the car. Got lost in the...

    Slacker Radio connection/next track problem

Just took delivery yesterday. S90D MC Red. As I was sitting in the car in the garage configuring the profiles and settings etc, Slacker started acting funny. I would select a playlist, it would load the track meta data and album art but not play yet. then after 5 seconds it would skip track to...

Alliant Credit Union as a Financing Option

We went with Alliant when we placed our MS 90D MC Red order at the Fremont Factory a few weeks ago. The Owner Advisor that helped us said their rates are generally 1/2-1% lower than Tesla's. He said you don't get the buyback guarantee if you don't finance thru Tesla but MS private sale prices...

Model S - HPWC (High Power Wall Connector)

Our charger has been on order for a couple of weeks now and our DS says they're expecting fulfillment next week. Not sure if they just meant just our order or if Tesla is getting a large shipment of the chargers in. But assuming we get it next week, it'll be three weeks for us.

Model S - HPWC (High Power Wall Connector)

So the Tesla Certified electrician came out yesterday to run the wiring for the HPWC. After their load calculations, I'm told they can safely run a 80amp dedicated line to the HPWC, which is what they did. They wired the sub-breaker panel in the garage and ran the dedicated line thru conduit...

X owner claims unintended acceleration caused accident

I agree that if LE pulled the logs and made the determination that it was operator error, this is a non-issue. My understanding of what occurred, however, is that Tesla downloaded the logs and made this determination. If that is the case, Tesla is also an interested party in this dispute and...

X owner claims unintended acceleration caused accident

I have yet to see the owner's response to Tesla's findings but I would imagine that he's going to stick to his guns and insist that his wife knew what she was doing and that its still the car's fault for accelerating into the building. If the logs were examined by an independent third party and...

X owner claims unintended acceleration caused accident

While I do tend to believe that this was a case of operator error as opposed to any serious bug in the car itself, I am curious as to the integrity of the drive logs. In other words, how do we know that Tesla hasn't modified the logs to reflect their preferred narrative of an accident to...
