Constant cracking sound in speakers; sporadic loss of audio

FWIW 2023.6.8 also fixed it for me. I don't have SXM (UK car), but the FM tuner has been broken for me (skips, crackles) ever since the MCU2 upgrade. My understanding is that it's a known problem and won't be be fixed, the workaround is to use TuneIn.

Constant cracking sound in speakers; sporadic loss of audio

Same issue here (frequent and sporadic audio pauses, occasionally popping sounds) on a 2016 MS with the MCU2 upgrade. It's definitely an issue of pausing, ie all the audio plays just with a gap, not cutting out and missing parts, which makes me think it's a load issue and something can't keep...

Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service

Quick final update: I spoke to the Master Tech and he explained a few things (hopefully I've got it roughly right): The brake pedal switch was replaced during the MCU2 tuner upgrade (it's a single use part that needs to be replaced if removed) The replacement was defective and they've now...

Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service

Just as an update, we got a more satisfying response from Tesla in Friday: they are going to have their Master Tech look at the car and discuss with the original engineer on Monday, then give me a call to explain the issue. They also requested authorisation for another 20 miles of test driving...

Temporary loss of power brake assist

I'm having similar issues (see Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service), and they've replaced the same switch. I haven't yet got an adequate explanation of why the switch would affect the power brake assistance though, it seems that should be independent from any switch that determines...

Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service

Reading up on this more from info in this thread: Temporary loss of power brake assist, it seems that the iBooster is directly connected to the brake pedal and has its own pedal travel sensor, so I don't see how a separate switch could cause problems with the power break assist from the...

Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service

SC say that only the brake light switch is at fault, and that they've fully checked the ibooster and found no problems with it, or any leaks. I've asked them to explain how a break light switch could possibly be on the critical path for power assisted braking, since that just doesn't sound...

Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service

It does sound very similar to other brake booster failures, eg. Power braking assist reduced. I also got the juddering effect (a bit like Abs kicking in). There may have been a message about power assistance not being available, I'm not sure in the chaos! I'll make sure the SC fully check the...

Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service

Yes it's not clear to me either how a faulty switch caused all these issues. It makes sense that there's some kind of switch/sensor to detect that the brake pedal is pressed, and it makes a lot of sense that that was broken since the car was not detecting it being pressed at various points and...

    Corrective steering ruining everything

I have had a Model S in the UK since 2016 and I do definitely think you get more alarms and corrective steering here due to the narrowness of the roads. I haven't experienced the same level that you are talking about, but I live in London so we're probably driving on very different roads. Some...

Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service

Thanks for the reply. A bit of a (long) update: I called Tesla the next morning and was told that any brake issue couldn't be related to the MCU/FSD/CCS upgrades i'd had, and so it must be a new problem, and since the car is just out of warranty I would have to get it to Tesla and have it...

Brake stuck on during driving (!) after service

We just drove our 2016 Model S back from the service centre after getting the MCU 2, FSD computer and CCS charger upgrades. Most of the (~1hr) journey was fine, but just near the end the car became sluggish and we realised that the brakes (or at least one of them) appeared to be stuck on...

Sentry mode activated while in car, then got stuck

Sorry to hear that others have been through this. As mentioned in my previous post, we measured 108db on the app.

Sentry mode activated while in car, then got stuck

As an update, I've managed to reproduce the problem by leaving the car unlocked with a door open, taking the key away from the vicinity, and then (after a few minutes) briefly closing the door and re-opening it. This causes the car to lock (padlock symbol goes to locked on the screen). Once in...

Sentry mode activated while in car, then got stuck

Hi everyone, We had a pretty nasty experience with Sentry Mode in our Model S (HW2) today. My wife was in the car with the passenger door open, while I briefly went into a shop with the key. I would normally have left the key with her, but keeping a door open usually prevents the car from...

    TACC undertaking firmware change request

I've just recently observed that TACC and Autopilot now seem to behave 'correctly' and avoid undertaking. It must have been a recent changes since I definitely saw the behaviour the OP described until recently. I'm in the UK with an AP2 Model S, firmware 2019.12.1.1.

Next Gen Seats Wear and Tear

Just wondering what they said? Having a similar issue and the car is less than a year old.

Seat belt tightens and then doesn't release?

Trying to work out if this is a problem or normal behaviour: on hard acceleration in my Model S the driver's seat belt tightens (makes sense) but then stays tight for a long while afterwards. I can usually get it to slacken if I really push back in my seat to loosen it, but it's annoying...

    17.26.76

Just got 17.26.76 this morning, now I'm getting "High speed autosteer requires manual calibration. Please contact Tesla service", or something to that effect, if I try to engage autosteer over 55mph. I had no trouble with 17.17.4. Perhaps the new autosteer is more sensitive to calibration...

    Summon usefulness-less

I have a potentially silly question: does Summon require a GPS signal (for either the phone app or the car, or both)? I can't get a signal (GPS, I have strong WiFi and some cell reception) where my car is parked, and the one time I tried summon the app refused to work saying it couldn't...

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

Numbers for the latest are fairly high, yes, but both the latest update and 5.36 seem centred on US and Canada, which is annoying for the rest of us! Although the tracker now shows someone in the Netherlands getting 17.7.2, so hopefully it will go wider.
  23. G

    Autosteer on Local Roads!

Looks like 17.5.36 is a pretty limited release (I don't have it yet). According to Tesla Firmware Upgrade Tracker Web App it's only hit 14 cars in total, all in the US and Canada, all AP2 cars (apart from one) and none of them P100Ds. Since there's already been another update out after it with...

    Can scratched wheels be fixed?

I had two of my 21" grey turbine wheels refurbished (one stone chip, one kerbed) and they look as good as new, so should be fine. A lot of places aren't designed well for wide cars here in the UK! I have now fitted grey Alloygators, which look fine and I'd definitely recommend them.

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

P100D here with the .36 update until today, I had to calibrate too so pretty likely 36 didn't have shadow mode. TACC and autosteer worked flawlessly for me. Didn't find many roads for autosteer here in the UK, only motorways (there's another alternative name for all you US people! ) in heavy...

    Model X Insurance UK

One thing to be careful of with direct line (and others I'm sure) : the first time I called they quoted me a really cheap rate. I called back and double checked they had the value of the car right, turns out they didn't and the quote more than doubled after that!

    Ludicrous Plus is HERE!

It matters to some extent for Max Battery Power of course (has to be at least 20% iirc), but that's probably not the issue here. Mine was at 85%.

    Ludicrous Plus is HERE!

Just to report that I saw no such issues on my AP2 P100D, works exactly the same as in the video. Haven't done a road test yet though.

Initial 1000 HW2 cars getting AP software 12/31/16

FWIW yes this was 2.52.36, nothing new in release notes. Doesn't seem like that many people have it yet according to Tesla Firmware Upgrade Tracker Web App, and they all look like P100D variants (Not sure what the 'PD' trim is supposed to be...). From the (limited) data so far I wonder if this...

What settings are in a driver profile?

Hi all, I was wondering if there's an up-to-date list of what's stored in a driver profile? I found https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/blog_attachments/software_update_1.13.16_0.pdf but after using my new Model S I suspect the following are also stored: Creep on/off Location-aware...

    UK Insurance

Trying to get my Model S P100D this week before I pick it up. Tesla recommended LV, Admiral and Direct Line. LV wouldn't quote because the car was too high in value, Admiral did (~£1700, although I need to check if they cover the battery), Direct Line told me to go back to Tesla because they...

    EU finalize and deliveries

Finally picking up in a few days time, it's been a long wait since ordering in August!! Anyone have a delivery estimate for a P100D?

Nice! Mine's still not hit production (160 VIN) but confirmed same deal on AP upgrade. Hopefully it will hit production soon.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Similar for me, I've been waiting in the UK since ordering in August (160 VIN) and I also have a Dec/Jan delivery date. I was told it would go into production last week but it didn't happen. Interesting you have such a specific date though.
  40. G

Anyone have a delivery estimate for a P100D?

Yes I'm in a similar situation, 160 VIN for the UK ordered at a similar time. Estimate has dropped back to December/early January. Very frustrating when you see these US cars going past in the queue!

Anyone have a delivery estimate for a P100D?

It occurred to me, since it's taking a lot longer for my car to hit production than others it seems, I wonder if they only build right-hand drive models on the production line at particular times (I'm in the UK)? It would make sense since I imagine it requires a bit of reconfiguration, or at...

Anyone have a delivery estimate for a P100D?

Interestingly, my DS just told me that my car will be built the first week of October, end of line by the 7th. I hear the DS is often quite out of the loop, but if true this contradicts the first-week-of-the-quarter-off theory. Will keep you posted!

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Just an update in case anyone gets a scary estimated delivery date - MyTesla just updated for me with an estimated delivery date more in line with expectations - Late November - December (was March - Early April 2017!). I now has a VIN and I got an email about the VIN assignment a few minutes...

Anyone have a delivery estimate for a P100D?

Good news! I logged into MyTesla just now and I've got a new estimated delivery date of Late November - December and a VIN. I got an email about the VIN assignment a few minutes later. Spreadsheet updated, phew!

Anyone have a delivery estimate for a P100D?

Thanks @ScottUK that's good to know. I spoke to my DS yesterday and he said that he still expects mine to be delivered for December/January, but he's seen other orders like mine showing much later estimates. Apparently another one of his orders which was like this reverted to the correct date...

Anyone have a delivery estimate for a P100D?

I ordered my P100DL 26th August, confirmed on the 30th but MyTesla switched to March-Early April 2017 after confirmation! Delivery to London UK. @MS P100D when did you get your VIN? Getting on to the DE to see why it's so long, since it seems like others have much shorter estimates.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Just confirmed my order for a P100DL here in the UK and the delivery estimate in MyTesla went to March 2017 - Early April 2017. I know EU orders take a lot longer but that's a lot worse than I thought, especially as the website still says December for the same configuration. Hoping it will...
