    Car Wash Mode - Instructions!

Before I went through my first car I researched exactly how to do it, putting the car in N. What I did not realize was that if you touch the steering wheel or any controls it sets the brake immediately. Several trips to car washes over the next 18 months with no issues. Then all of a sudden...

Issue with keyless entry with iPhone 12s and iPhone 12 minis?

Yes, go the 12 Pro in Dec. Just got back from a trip where I stayed at a house with the M3 parked outside. Basically the phone NEVER worked as a key and even opening the App did not help. The phone was just disconnected. Several times I had to use the App to unlock the car and only after I...

Anyone else worried that V3 Superchargers not being shared might be a mistake?

    1. Stop replying to old dead threads! Hey, I could have started a new thread but people complain if there is already a similar one going and this one was. 2. I guess you meant 1MW?? Yes, I did confirm that you are correct. The DC max output I was looking at does say "per Post" above it and I...

Anyone else worried that V3 Superchargers not being shared might be a mistake?

See my reply to ucmndd above. The actual trip length is 578 mi. I charge overnight to 100% which is around 295 mi now after 2 years of ownership. First stop is the Tom Hill Sr. charger in Macon, GA at 213 mi with about 50 mi left. I charge to 240 in about 30 min. Next stop is Valdosta, 154...

Anyone else worried that V3 Superchargers not being shared might be a mistake?

Sorry, but I don't believe you are correct. The AC input side did indeed list a 350kva max input for each. However, the DC output side was definitely listed at 250KW max output on each cabinet which means each stall could be limited to 250/4 or 62.5KW ea, unlikely but possible. More likely at...

Anyone else worried that V3 Superchargers not being shared might be a mistake?

Just Stopped at the V3 charger in Valdosta, GA today on the way from NC to FL. This was our 2nd stop on a 600 mi trip so for something new I decided to make this the last stop and charge fully to make Orlando. Unfortunately the station was not cooperating: after a few seconds, stall 1B quit...

    Time for new tires

Save yourself the cost and bother of new tires and get rim protectors: Wheel Bands™ Kit for Tesla Owners You would have to get 255/40 size to keep approximately the same rolling radius. But as mentioned above you may notice a loss of range/efficiency. And from my experience putting wider...

Best replacement tire for Michelin MXM4 Primacy

Update: I recently drove the 600 mi from NC to our home in Orlando. It was cold in the morning and raining as we were coming out of the mountains. However, by afternoon it was low 70s and clear. On the level and smooth section of I75 from Macon to Valdosta, just over 200 mi at a steady 78...

Best replacement tire for Michelin MXM4 Primacy

Just completed a 600+ mile trip in NC. Interstate Highway and speeds between 73 and 78 mph for most of it. Average 290 Wh/mi or about 16 % more than EPA rating which is as good or better than I ever got with the Michelins. And the tires remain much quieter so I can say that I am very happy...

Best replacement tire for Michelin MXM4 Primacy

Good advice. When I had the tires installed the shop checked my alignment and it was all within specs however the front wheel toe in was 0.1 deg off of ideal. Not sure it's worth the cost to have it re-aligned. The old tires wore perfectly even and did not show edge wear that would indicate...

Great Summer performance tires but we live in NC so not for me! 300 AA UTQG - not going to last very long and probably not very efficient.

    Model 3 Multiple Issues

I finally pulled the trigger and installed the Continental Pure Contact LS tires. According to the Sound Meter phone app I installed I measured about 2.5 dbA lower noise with the Continentals at 60 mph on the same stretch of road. And my perception is that they are indeed quieter with less...

Best replacement tire for Michelin MXM4 Primacy

I was looking for a replacement tire for the OEM Michelin MXM4 Primacy tires. The tire noise has gotten noticeably worse at 23,000 miles, so much so that it was the dominant noise at 60+ mph. And at 23,000 miles ,the tread is down to the wear indicators. I was hoping for a quieter tire, an...

    Model 3 Multiple Issues

We went for a long drive on Sunday and here is what I experienced exactly: 45-55 mph TACC displays the speed limit +5 mph for the proposed setting, i.e. what you will get when you activate it. This was true 100% of the time. 35-40 mph TACC displays the speed limit for the setting. 0-30 mph...

Postscript: Adding one more that I forgot about but annoys the heck out of me: 13. When activating TACC, it seems to start with the current speed limit or some other random number instead of working like every other Cruise Control in the world by assuming that the speed you are currently at...

    Model 3 Multiple Issues

I have had my M3 for about 18 months now. I still absolutely love driving it but I am becoming increasingly frustrated with multiple issues. I was not able to find similar threads so I have started a new one. I took it in to a service center once, which is 2 hours away from home, only to be...

    Does anyone else's 3 whistle?

I know this is an old thread but if you see this can you explain more about the brake retainer clip? I have a low speed whistle when turning right only so this sounds like it could be the same issue. Is it something I can do myself?

MASTER THREAD: 2019.36.2.1 - new HOLD mode and other features

M3 LRD AWD Downloaded 2019.36.2.1 last night. Love the Hold mode but it is taking some getting used to. As far as the power, it feels stronger however, I did a couple of test runs to 70 mph. Using App Drag Racer I recorded 0-60 in 4.5 sec. That is exactly what Tesla advertised when I...

    Autopilot worse after latest Update

I use TACC more often than Autosteer. I cannot tell any difference. In fact the tech at the Service Center explained to me that they are both part of the same system. He suggested that I will need to wait for improvements with software updates. I sure hope that happens!

Supercharger power set by whether or not you have a destination set

I have finally had a few chances to test my theory and I can confirm that it is definitely not the case that charging rate is affected by whether or not you have arrived at a SC as a final destination or as a waypoint on a trip. The only limitations I saw were when all charger branches were...

    Autopilot worse after latest Update

Just had the car serviced at Tesla SC in Alpharetta, GA. The technician reviewed my documented "brake checks" and found no errors. They explained to me that the system is working as designed, that Autosteer and Adaptive Cruise Control are part of the same system and that it is still in "Beta"...

Supercharger power set by whether or not you have a destination set

Peace! OK, I agree that I should have stated this as less a fact and more of a question looking for confirmation which is what I intended. In fact I have scheduled a service visit to deal with Autopilot issues and I will have them look at the charging rate as well. I could not get in until...

Supercharger power set by whether or not you have a destination set

No evidence? Charging at 75KW. Unplugged and re-plugged in, no change. Stopped charging, set a destination and the charge rate immediately went to 145KW. I call that evidence. Same for "pure speculation". It's not speculation when you have evidence. It would be an extreme coincidence that...

Supercharger power set by whether or not you have a destination set

I did indeed go to the Tom Hill Rd. SC outside of Macon, not the one downtown. I have been there many times and it is not a nice area. Restaurant selection is eclectic and a long walk away. Plus, it is not directly off of the Interstate like the Tom Hill one is.

Supercharger power set by whether or not you have a destination set

I hope you don't start having a problem but please note that this was not happening on a trip we took in April so I believe it could be a very recent change.

Supercharger power set by whether or not you have a destination set

Correct. There are two Urban superchargers along the way in Atlanta but I avoid these. In fact, I witnessed 145 KW charging power at the last one as soon as a entered a distant destination address.

    Autopilot worse after latest Update

I just took delivery of a M3 LR AWD in March after selling my 2016 Model S AP1. I did notice right away that AS is more stable and less nervous than AP1. It tends to stay centered in the lane better and follows curves in the mountains better where AP1 would just give up and disconnect...

Supercharger power set by whether or not you have a destination set

Just completed a 600 mile trip from FL to NC. There are now 10 Tesla Superchargers along our I75/I85 route. When I plug in our destination, the nav system selects SCs that I don't want to use: First stop at the limit of range that would require slowing down to reach. Second stop in downtown...

Model S/X deliveries drop off cliff, down 56%

I just sold my 2016 S75 (got killed on price) and bought an M3 LRD. My reasons for buying the new M3 were down to: Much faster charging time (even faster than 100D). 17 min. vs 30 min. for 158 mi. from 10% SOC. This is a typical charge level for 80 mph driving between SCs. Much longer range...

    Supercharging Nightmare Begins

Have you looked at J-1772 and Tesla destination chargers around the bay? Plugshare shows 135 in downtown SF and the surrounding area and 95 nearby San Meteo. If you cannot use any of these, you can plug into 120V and get around 4 RM/hr or around 50 overnight. Virtually all buildings and...

    Early 75/75D pack degradation

I have a 2016 60 that I upgraded to the 75. When I first made the conversion in Spring 2017, it would briefly charge to 240 but very quickly degraded to 238 and then 237. That was June 2017 and as of today, probably 10,000 mi later it will still charge to 237. So after an initial nearly 5%...

    Tire pressure readings

Thank you Inginner! I finally figured this out. The whole trick is to press and hold the wheels rather than just a quick push. When you do this you can select exactly what you want displayed in either of the L & R dash displays including the "car status" which, at least for now, is the...

    Tire pressure readings

I have a 2016 Model S recently upgraded to v 8.0 . It has never had a "Car Status App" and I can find no way to view individual tire pressures. My 2012 Volt did that and it worked very well. Very frustrating to have to manually check tire pressures on such a sophisticated car!
