Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

There were a number of articles several years back about Google determining it was safer to have their cars violate the speed limit if it meant they were staying within the flow of traffic (within reason). Seems there were also problems related to crossing a double yellow line.

Unedited Mobileye’s Autonomous Vehicle & other CES 2020 Self Driving ride videos

Several things worth remembering. A lot of the pro-LIDAR people are involved with MobilEye and MobilEye is selling HD maps, they're obviously going to campaign (and probably politically lobby) for consensus that their solution is correct. Tesla isn't using a single sensor or even just "vision"...

Model 3 with HW2.5 on 2019.40.50.7 stops for stop sign at end of freeway exit ramp

I mean technically now your car’s behavior is like a fake ICE manual transmission... ;) Have you had a chance to test on other off-ramps yet? OT: I had creep on because it was easier to make small, single pedal, adjustments when parking. Switched to hold once that was an option. Definitely had...

Model 3 with HW2.5 on 2019.40.50.7 stops for stop sign at end of freeway exit ramp

Could it be that, rather than autopilot detecting the stop, you've switched from "Creep" to "Hold"?

    Firmware 2018.42.4 ccb9715

I was noticing the display showing a car when there wasn’t one. Took me awhile to realize autopilot was picking up my hand when I was driving with an arm hanging out the window. I’m on 42.3.

Is there a way to keep air circulating inside the car?

I feel your pain. I’m still bummed I can’t have it blow on my feet on auto.

Major issues since V9 upgrade, anyone else???

i had some problems with the phone key. I unpaired my iPhone as key and from bluetooth, rebooted the car, and reconnected phone. It's been fine since.

    AWD delivery thread

Even knowing how quickly they can truck it from the factory, I was a little surprised myself and went back to check the door pillar a second time. =) VIN in the 64k range.

    AWD delivery thread

On the side of the cable that plus into the phone, the plug casing needs to be a certain size and shape to snap into the console if you want to use it like a dock. An ordinary cable can just be pulled through if you want a cord that stretches out into the car.

    AWD delivery thread

In other threads people were pulling reservation time stamps from the code and they were UTC. Possible your date is too, depending on how late on 3/31 your reservation was.

Several videos were posted in the AWD delivery thread

    AWD delivery thread

I suspect they don't get fewer calls, rather the calls are now "how do I schedule my appointment?" instead of "what is my VIN?".

Red pill or Blue pill? Help!

Personally, was leaning toward red, then Tesla went and made it cost more. Decided I'd rather have $500 and a blue car.

116MPGe has me on the fence, thinking of RWD now

In the "Let's discuss Dual Motor range" thread, there seems to be some evidence that the range loss is closer to 8%, not 11%, and that the rest of the discrepancy in the MPGe numbers is due to a difference in the charging efficiency number the EPA used.

    Let's discuss Dual Motor range

I was never clear on why that math didn't work, but Troy's post at #316 finally shows why. For some reason EPA used different wall values.

    Let's discuss Dual Motor range

Same spot as Troy’s screenshot. You can see the value as part of the formula for the cell. I can’t easily access right now, so unsure of cell number.

The 334 number is updated to 330 in the 2018 spreadsheet.

    Let's discuss Dual Motor range

The US version of Tesla’s Model 3 site mentions 215 for SR AWD and 220 for RWD. It’s been discussed in this thread and others.

    Let's discuss Dual Motor range

I'm hoping the 116MPGe number for the performance includes the 20" wheels, working under the assumption that the number was figured before they split the wheels into an optional package. (trying to be optimistic that the non-P AWD is more efficient than the P)

    Let's discuss Dual Motor range

There is something odd in the EPA data. While it lists improved HWY MPGe numbers between 2017 and 2018, it lists reduced HWY range. The explanation of higher charging efficiency is fine for the different MPGe number, but why the reduced HWY range...

    Let's discuss Dual Motor range

Was the 334mi number ever looked at again after the change from 126MPGe to 130MPGe?

    “Hey Siri”

Electrek had an article about this recently and I was quite excited to hear about it. I love using Siri for unlocking my house, and car seems like it would be equally great. Just hoping it also works with Apple Watch. Tesla’s Siri integration now works with Model 3

US Federal $7,500 Electric Vehicle Credit Expiry Date By Automaker

Insideevs seems to have reasonable numbers. The 6 Automakers Closest To Losing Federal Tax Credit Poke around their site a bit they also have estimates for Model 3s produced so far this quarter. Best I can figure, Tesla will produce enough Model 3s to put them over the limit by about 20k...

Hypothesis - Tesla only builds AWD Model 3 starting in July

I think it also depends on what motor availability is like. Using the same for front and back, you could build twice as many cars RWD vs AWD if you are motor constrained.

    Pictures of production Model 3s

Looking at the first image in the series, you can see the steering wheel and it doesn't appear silver on top. As Runt8 suggests, probably sunlight.

    Reasons for Wheel Size

Tyre Reviews did a youtube video where they review the same tire on the same car (VW GTI), just with different wheel size. Worth a watch.

Only initial options: color and wheel size?

If memory serves, he said initial availability would be wheel/color choices, but that there would be boxes indicating future options along with probable shipping dates. He gave dual motor as an example with early 2018 availability.
