    S90D lease trade...

I'm still trying to transfer this lease and have added a small incentive to the listing.

    S90D lease trade...

Fair point, though I'd never consider minor carpet debris on a daily driver to be at all relevant to the maintenance level. I suppose that's what I get for asking my wife to take photos! LOL

    S90D lease trade...

After some consideration, I've listed my 2016 S90D lease on leasetrader. It's an AP2 car with Enhanced Autopilot, has been meticulously kept, and is in as-new condition. The ad can be seen here: 2016 Tesla Model S 90D lease $1,444.07 - Clermont, Florida 34711 Interested parties should, of...

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

Exactly. It's a cheap car being marketed (and priced!) to a segment otherwise out of its league solely on the merits of its technology. Other than not buying gas (which I don't miss - though I'm principally enjoying not thinking about it, rather than any attendant expense), it's been a nearly...

Took delivery today. Questions on the software update and wind noise

My S90D with the solid roof has noticeable wind noise at anything over ~20 MPH. At highway speeds, it's loud and too intrusive to permit normal conversation.

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

Yep, that summarizes my feelings nicely, except substitute my 2014 Mercedes CLS550 experience for your Audi. TACC (MB calls it "Distronic") was always reliable and usable into the triple-digit speed range. Automated parking ("Parktronic") was perfect, auto lights, brights, and wipers worked...

If you had $150k for a car, but the p100d didn't exist, what would you buy?

Exactly. I had a '14 CLS550 and absolutely loved it. I canceled the S Coupe I had on order in favor of the Tesla, thinking that skipping the gas station inconvenience would be worth the quality and service sacrifices. I was wrong. Can't wait for MB to release an all-electric S Class.

If you had $150k for a car, but the p100d didn't exist, what would you buy?

Well, I was thinking about a couple of $150K+ cars and opted for a 90D. The reasons that the 100D wasn't a good fit for me were several and I won't bore you all with them here. Different strokes, etc. I'd been strongly considering the MB S63 AMG Coupe as a daily driver and a Ferrari F430 as a...

    White Lies Matter?

Of course you should tell the full, unvarnished truth as you know it. Those accepting your generously offered rides can then make up their own minds about Tesla based on more and better information than they might have received elsewhere. It's simply a matter of honesty/ethics. Why wouldn't...

    HW2 EZ-PASS Placement vs. cameras

FWIW, especially for those in Florida, SunPass doesn't work in that location, at least not vertically. One of the service guys here in Orlando told me to try it in the horizontal position, as close to the headliner as possible. I haven't tried it yet, as last week's update froze my nav screen...

Custom Socket Tool for Refresh Front Plate License Screws

I was giving this whole bolt removal issue some more thought and it occurred to me that I already had the ideal tool (short of a custom socket, that is): a whole set of snap ring pliers. That did the trick in no time at all. Job done! Thanks for all the great suggestions!
  12. Corsair66

Custom Socket Tool for Refresh Front Plate License Screws

One of them, yes. It's actually for sale at the moment. :-)
  13. Corsair66

Custom Socket Tool for Refresh Front Plate License Screws

No offense taken at all; sorry if I sounded defensive. I just figured that my building experience would be a good data point vis-a-vis how challenging this bolt removal process has been. I'll run out for the new pliers in an hour or two.

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

Just a quick update: My new S90D was delivered on Tuesday with no issues whatsoever. That said, I'm really looking forward to getting the AP1 functionality restored in advance of all the new AP2 goodies.
  15. Corsair66

Custom Socket Tool for Refresh Front Plate License Screws

Yep, I've got the correct bolts in mind. For what it's worth, I'm not exactly a mechanical imbecile. I've built two airplanes, a street-legal racecar, and restored a vintage motorcycle. If I'm having trouble removing these bolts, there's an issue somewhere. I'm attaching a quick (and utterly...

Custom Socket Tool for Refresh Front Plate License Screws

Hey Guys, I got my new S90D home yesterday and have had absolutely zero luck removing those two screws using 90-degree needlenose pliers. I looked into ordering one of the 3D-printed sockets, but found that they're not shipping until 12/31. In the interest of immediate gratification, if...

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

Yep, I had that confirmed by the finance guy in CA this afternoon after I queried him directly. They eventually updated My Tesla with the final documents. I still haven't heard from my DS with a response to my Friday questions. I'm looking forward to the post-sale survey...

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

Yeah, it's been a very different experience from other $100K+ cars I've ordered over the years. My understanding is that this varies by state and I haven't been apprised either way (par for the course) by my DS.

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

So, I received my "car in transit" email this morning despite having already received the "delivery confirmation" email five days ago. My delivery is scheduled for Tuesday morning, My Tesla shows all pre-delivery steps completed, yet I still haven't received the final numbers from my...

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

I tend to go back and forth between red and blue for my vehicles. The MB was blue, the Ultima red, so the Tesla... When I can't decide, I do both! LOL Here's a completely gratuitous pic of my airplane (since sold, unfortunately):

  26. Corsair66

    Gap Insurance

Every car I've leased in the last 25 years had gap insurance included by the manufacturer as a standard part of their contract. Does Tesla not include it? If not, I'll be sure to add it to my insurance policy.

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

Thanks for checking into that; I wouldn't have known where to look for train info. Even giving a brief switchover delay, my current delivery window seems excessive. I suppose there's nothing to be done for it, though, so it'll be what it'll be.

Cool. I didn't disbelieve you, but was just reporting another data point. As it happens, my car is now complete and awaiting shipping.

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

Just received the "It's Complete" email - with an estimated delivery of 12/24 - 1/7. What?!?! I could see a week, tops, not 3.5 to 5. It's coming to Orlando, not Sydney.
  32. Corsair66

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

Mine has been less than sterling, too. At this price point, a company needs to offer more than just a great product; the complete experience needs to be on point, as well.
  33. Corsair66

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

My agreement doesn't include any reference to an "on or about date". Oh, well - back to waiting in the dark.

Wow, that's quick. Lucky you! I ordered a month earlier and hoping to take delivery ten days later.

How long did it take from ordering to actually having a delivery date?

Mine went into production today (or at least My Tesla updated this morning to reflect that status), but still projects a "December-Early January, 2017" delivery. I'm hoping for sooner, of course.

    No Premium Seats For Me

I've enjoyed the ventilated seats in my current MB, but even here in central Florida, I've only used them very occasionally. Not worth delaying my Tesla order at all, let alone being subject to price increases. I'll definitely post pics once it's here and fully detailed.
  41. Corsair66

    No Premium Seats For Me

Sounds nice. Either way, I'm not getting them. LOL
  42. Corsair66

    No Premium Seats For Me

I tried to get my order changed to include the new Premium seats (I really want the ventilation), but no dice. I was told that I'd have to cancel my current order and reorder the car to get the new seats. At this point, it's not worth it - I want the car as soon as possible and it's already...

    AutoPilot 2 Delivery Thread

My AP2.0 S90D is still in the queue with delivery shown in My Tesla as 'Late December - January'. A phone call to the sales line yesterday elicited an assurance that a mid-December delivery was most likely and, though a build date was in the system, they wouldn't share that date with me.

    All Weather floor mats available!

Are these the hard plastic sort of all-weather mats or the nice, rubber ones? I've had the latter on my last few cars and would like to get the same for the incoming Model S.

Is it actually smart to lease a Tesla?

I can appreciate that perspective, though I don't anticipate that the prospect of paying for supercharger use on a subsequent car will persuade me, three years hence, to stick with an 'old' car instead of getting the current model at that time. For one thing, actual supercharger costs are...

    "Blind Spot Detection is disappointing"

Wow, that's disappointing to learn. The blind spot detection (and mirror-located annunciation) are excellent on my Mercedes. That said, I'm still really looking forward to receiving my new Model S; delivery is currently tracking late December, though I hope it gets here sooner than that!
