    AutoPilot 2 Delivery Thread

Ordered mine around October 8th. Confirmed on October 15th. Added Enhanced AP when they sent me the email link. My Tesla is indicating Late November - December deliver. My Tesla advisor guy said that it will definitely be delivered by Dec 15th. Pacific NW delivery area.

Tesla Network - for profit ride sharing managed by Tesla

That is less likely with the smaller battery packs of the Model 3. With current battery technology they are somewhat limited to the rate of charge. Tesla is already VERY aggressive with SuperCharging at 120 kW. With a 90 kwh battery pack, that is already about 1.3 C. Anything over 1.0 C is...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

There is certainly the possibility of a refund. Tesla provides refunds if they cannot deliver on options that you purchased. I have personally received a $5,000 refund on an option that I paid for prior to delivery (carbon fiber top) and they could not deliver. Tesla will do the right thing if...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

I think all of the features in Enhanced AP will likely come true during 2017 at some point. The complete FSDC option is probably not going to happen anytime soon. They have stuff like a Tesla Network to make revenue off of your car. Government moves too slow to allow that anytime soon.

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

Why? All I wrote was that I don't let companies take money from me without delivering on their promises. And my comments were just saying that Tesla does it the right way. Tesla does provide refunds if they fail to deliver. Example: my carbon fiber T top for my Roadster. Tesla provided the...

    Non Superchargers

After 3 years of ownership, I am basically just using a 120 v 12 amp wall outlet at the house we moved into last year. I have not yet even bothered to install a 30 amp outlet in the garage. The 4 miles of range per hour is generally enough for my daily commute around my home region. The 12...

Anyone else sacrifice their deposit to get AP 2.0?

Yeah, Elon also said he is going to send millions of people to Mars for $200,000 each. I don't believe that either. Remember the Tesla battery swap service? Lots of stuff Elon says never happens. Tesla will be discounting cars near the end of every quarter, just like every public company that...

Anyone else sacrifice their deposit to get AP 2.0?

I suspect they will lose a lot more on the loss in value for all of their AP1 inventory cars and the rejected AP1 cars. They are losing more than $2,500 in value on each of those. They probably will have to discount AP1 cars by more than $2,500 to move them.
  9. R

Anyone else sacrifice their deposit to get AP 2.0?

Make that clear. Tell them you will re-order if your deposit is applied towards the new car. If not, you are moving on.

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

Tesla often gives refunds for items that that promised that end up being massively delayed way longer than is reasonable. Example of the carbon fiber T tops for the Tesla Roadster. It was a $5,000 option I paid for before delivery. It still wasn't available 6 months after delivery, so I asked...

Recieved tesla s yesterday no AP2

I have been driving my 2013 Tesla Model S with no dual motors, no autopilot at all, etc. Still a great car. Get over it and and upgrade every 3 years. That is what I am doing. Upgrading in December. Trading in the 3 year old car. Guess, what.... in 2 years you are going to get a much more...

Tesla Network - for profit ride sharing managed by Tesla

I recall reading an article about Uber where it was estimated that the entire USA taxi revenue was only about $15 billion. The point was being made that the $60 billion valuation of Uber was a bit crazy.
  13. R

Will Tesla have fewer inventory discounts this quarter?

Where is that info or website? Thanks

AP2.0 hardware also upgrades console SoC?

The car has been in production for about 4 years. Isn't it likely that the original chips are no longer even in production? Odds are there are lots of parts that are upgraded over time without a formal announcement.
  15. R

    Non Superchargers

I live in the Pacific Northwest which as a ton of Chademo locations. In my 3 years of Model S ownership, I have never had a situation where I felt the need to have that Chademo adapter. So I never bought it. The Supercharger network covers everything around here. And the destination chargers...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

Yeah, it sucks for Tesla to have to actually deliver features that customers paid for. Those customers are just being totally unreasonable to expect something for their money.
  17. R

Who is upgrading to self driving?

I will also likely eventually get FSDC. But I don't see the rush in paying for it now in 2016. It is a late 2017 or 2018 feature and based on Tesla's history, it might not actually happen until AP version 3 with more sensors or radar or cameras, etc. The enhanced feature list seems achievable...

How predictable are the end of quarter diacounts

Investors are fine with Tesla losing money for now. However they don't want to see revenue growth slow down at all. So Tesla has to sell a lot more cars compared to the previous year. Discounting is perfectly acceptable to Tesla in order to maintain overall revenue growth and the stock price...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

Tesla doesn't want to go to arbitration over an AP1 $2,000 option dispute. It costs them about 5x that just for the lawyer. The Arbitration Assoc charges the company $1,700 just to administer commercial arbitration. They would resolve it with you, just like all companies resolve these issues...

Tesla Network - for profit ride sharing managed by Tesla

Well, they would certainly get a poor review from me in that scenario. :D
  21. R

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

Yeah, I would go the small claims route to get upgraded to "premium customer service". I have done it in other scenarios in order to get past the 1-800 customer service types with no power to get anything done. Specifically, I did it to Equifax earlier this year when they refused to delete...
  22. R

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

That is where negotiations come into play. If you feel AP1 is only living up to about 50% of the features promised (which seem about accurate), then I suspect you could negotiate a 50% refund of whatever you paid for the AP1 option. Tesla customer loyalty executives are not looking for a war...

For those that think $8k is too much for Full Autonomy

If parking is an issue, Tesla will have a "Loiter" option where your car just drives around the block for up to 60 minutes until you get done with your business and can return to your car.

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

I think anyone that has watched Tesla and Elon for a few years is aware of Elon being a very optimistic fellow in terms of his dreams and the timing of execution of his plans. We all like that about him and joke about it. Tesla's culture is a reflection of Elon in that way. But at the end of...
  25. R

How predictable are the end of quarter diacounts

Yeah... I don't believe that at all. Tesla has to either make their sales numbers or minimize the number of cars they fall short. If they have a huge miss on sales, then the stock price could potentially tank by 10% to 20%. That leads to an entirely different set of problems with raising capital...
  26. R

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

I am not in a position to be upset about that issue. My 2013 has none of that tech so I never paid for it or expected it. However if I were the owner of a 2015-2016 car with AP 1 hardware that I purchased with all of those promised features, then I would be talking to Tesla about it right about...
  27. R

How predictable are the end of quarter diacounts

That is how every publicly traded company is. Tesla is nothing unique in that aspect. We have a Chevy Traverse that comes off of lease in January of 2018. I will begin talking to Tesla about a Model X (loaner or new inventory car) in the final two weeks of December 2017. That is the time frame...

Help deciding on AP 2.0 upgrade

My only AP 1 experience was with a loaner while my 2013 Model S was being serviced for two days (GPS antenna issue). I was blown away by the AP 1 version that was on my loaner. I took my wife and kids for rides on the highway and we were having a blast with just version 1.0 of this technology...

Tesla Network - for profit ride sharing managed by Tesla

Very true. But that math would put a lot of Teslas on the road for the Tesla Network until the critical mass of vehicles starts driving down the revenue you can earn. Tesla would sell a lot of cars into that network in the buildup process. If it works as imagined in my head, I would likely buy...

Tesla Network - for profit ride sharing managed by Tesla

I could see people purchasing a few Teslas and putting them on the Tesla network 100%. As long as the daily income adds up to more than the loan payments, insurance and electricity bills, it works. The owner is basically just leveraging their personal credit score with a few auto loans. My...

How predictable are the end of quarter diacounts

Exactly. There are a lot of inventory AP 1 cars that just lost $5,000 in value. There are some deals to be had for an inventory car with AP 1 hardware. Tesla is going to realize that in a few weeks when they start wondering why all of their inventory models are just gathering dust at full price.

...... until crunch time at the end of December.
  33. R

Who is upgrading to self driving?

Some options that used to be extras are now standard on the car. When I bought my Model S, folding mirrors and parking sensors were new and an extra option. Supercharger access used to be a $2,000 option on 60 kwh cars. Now it is standard for everyone. HD backup camera used to be an upgrade...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

Tesla cannot take forever and never refund anyone. Most Tesla owners are not retarded. The same thing happened with the carbon fiber T top for the Roadsters. I think I took delivery of the Roadster during the summer of 2009 and I didn't have my $5,000 carbon fiber top. Tesla had only delivered...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

I can assure you. I will. I don't allow people or companies to screw me over on money. It is just my personal policy. A former employer ended up writing me a $150,000 severance package about 10 months after I was fired. At the time they told me, "under our policy, you are not eligible for a...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

I think AP 2 will likely deliver everything in the Enhanced AP list of features. FSDC turning your Tesla loose on the Tesla Network to go make you money (while at work or sleeping) like an Uber driver ... on that I have my doubts.
  37. R

Help deciding on AP 2.0 upgrade

I think Enhanced AP is worth it with AP 2.0 hardware. That list of features seems very achievable to me with the new hardware. I think Tesla is over-promising on FSDC at this point in time and it is too risky to give them $3,000 for that option in 2016 when you likely won't get to use it until...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

My only experience with AP 1.0 was with a loaner while my 2013 MS was getting serviced It was my experience that AP 1.0 does not detect stop signs or traffic signals at all. Can someone else with more 1.0 knowledge clarify if I missed something? This sort of promise undelivered on AP 1.0 is...

Help deciding on AP 2.0 upgrade

I am in the same situation. Enhanced AP seems very achievable near term (Dec 2016). So I am doing the Enhance AP upgrade only for my Dec delivery. I am having a lot of doubts about all of the rosy projections Elon made related to FSDC. So I don't think it is wise to pay that extra $3,000 with...

Received AP 2 upgrade email Saturday

After thinking about it this weekend, I have decided for now to go with only Enhanced AP and wait to see how FSDC develops. If Tesla doesn't actually deliver that level of auto pilot (FSDC option = L5) until AP 3.0 then some lawyer will probably be filing a class action lawsuit for $3,000...

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

Honestly, that is why I took screenshots of all of the promises made with AP 2 Enhanced AP and FSDC. If Tesla doesn't deliver on those features as described on the website today, then I will be getting a refund for the EAP and/or FSDC. Or at a minimum I will get a credit towards a future...

Finally the right time to buy a Model S!

haha, I got my 2013 Tesla Model S in late November and got those folding mirrors and parking sensors. I thought at the time that my timing was awesome on getting that upgrade. Then they come out with AP1 and I was sad wishing I had delayed. I am near 3 years with my vintage 85. Upgrading now...

Who is upgrading to self driving?

If self driving is never released, then Tesla will be forced to do a $3,000 refund for those people that paid for FSDC. We still have consumer protection laws in this country. Tesla cannot sell options and then not deliver them. Also, I am sure after FSDC is released, Tesla will be making an...

Own for two years - the lease vs buy math

I think the best deal is to buy a Tesla coming off of a 2 year lease, drive it for years 3 and 4, then sell it back to Tesla to buy another Tesla coming off of a 2 year lease. Be upgrading every 2 years to a 2 year old Tesla with 24,000 miles on it. I think that will be my plan going forward...

Received AP 2 upgrade email Saturday

We still have consumer protection laws in the USA. Tesla cannot sell a set of features for $3,000 and then not deliver. If it is blocked on regulatory grounds, then Tesla will owe us a refund. It is a $3,000 option they never should have offered. For example, Tesla has promised a Tesla network...

Received AP 2 upgrade email Saturday

Because I know how Tesla rolls. If they promise something, but then it gets massively delayed, they will provide a refund if requested. Example, back when I had a Roadster, the car came with the soft cloth T top. I ordered the carbon fiber top for the Roadster. It was a $5,000 option. But it...

    Lease question

Auto dealers will often help you get out of a lease early if you are upgrading to a new car. Tesla might also. Never hurts to ask. I think the actual lease contract is with a partner bank. If your new lease is also with that same leasing company, it might work. I suspect you will take a hit...

Received AP 2 upgrade email Saturday

My options confirmed on October 15th. I just got the email this morning for the AP 2 link to change my options before December delivery. I went ahead and selected FSDC. If Tesla doesn't deliver on the full AP options as written, I will get the $3,000 refund later. Tesla has always been great...

For those that think $8k is too much for Full Autonomy

The way AP 2.0 is described on their ordering page, it basically is full auto pilot for long or short trips and able to handle any regular driving scenario. If Tesla is accepting $3,000 for this option and doesn't deliver, then they can expect to be giving a lot of $3,000 refunds. We still have...

    AP 2.0 So much negativity!

Tesla has promised a lot of amazing features in writing with full AP2. The way it is described now on the ordering webpage, it will be full blown 100% auto pilot capable and even a Tesla sharing network to make revenue off of your car. If they are charging $3,000 extra for all of those features...
