Tire Blew Out on PLAID - 1.5 month wait on tires ?!

Someone on our Facebook group had trouble finding a tire recently, but I found a falken that worked on Amazon with prime delivery while he waited for the correct one to come in stock. https://www.amazon.com/Falken-Azenis-Performance-Tire-295-30R21XL/dp/B07K8YTQNB

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

I think my rattle sound is back. Had it repaired at 6,000 miles, currently at 14,500 miles, 17 months later.

New tires needed after less than 30k miles

The owners manual says to rotate the tires every 6,250 miles. I think you would have caught the uneven wear when you rotated them.

Model Y review from Model S/X driver

A few weeks ago we tested the Y performance and it was really sluggish off the line, but I’m use to an S P100D everyday. I think it’s due to the permanent magnet motors vs the ac inductive motors in the s/x. Overall I found the Y to be basically a larger 3 with power hatch. Not worth it for us...

This is my Biggest concern being a Tesla Owner

Years ago someone keyed my base model used BMW 3 series that cost $18k. A lot of people can't even afford food, so no matter what you have, you'll have to live with people lashing out at times.

Pulled the trigger on Jaguar i-pace as second EV

Congrats! That sounds like a great deal. Can you comment on the quality of the nav/touch screen UI? I read it is slow and hard to use.

    Take rate of Performance Option

Does anyone have an estimate of the take rate of the performance option vs the regular/long range models? In traditional car companies, I read that it's very low like 1 out of 10, but Tesla is much higher.

Service center experience: trading my 3 in for a Mercedes

All the German dealers around us require appointments about 2 weeks out to get a loaner. So Tesla is about the same. I’ve always received loaners from Marietta, Georgia. After we got a P100D I have received all P loaners. Though they tend to be used cars waiting to be sold rather than current...

It gets cheaper all the time. About 3 years ago it was around $4/watt installed, now it’s around $2.

Keep my Model S or get a Model Y?

Check this range table: Tesla Range Table - Teslike.com 100D with 19" wheels should have a rated range of 335 miles, 319 miles in real world.

Keep my Model S or get a Model Y?

In some ways the current AP tech is not as good as AP1. For me, going from a 2016 to a 2018 with AP2.5, it's not as smooth on the highway and has way more phantom emergency braking than our AP1. The newer system also doesn't read speed limit signs, it uses the database and it's not very...

    Removing the rear seat completely

If anyone is still interested, the rear seat frame with the ouch bar is part number 1008275-00-C. I found it for about $140 online by searching for that part number, but not sure how much Tesla would charge from the parts department.

Model S Ride Comfort compared to Model 3

I had a 2016 S with 19” on the base spring suspension and the ride was better than our 3. My 2018 S has the air suspension and the ride even on 21” wheels was better. I downgraded to 20” Tsportline TSS with the Continental DWS tires and it’s even softer and a good balance for me between the 21...

    Staggered Tires on Square setup

I got the staggered Tsportline TSS 20” in December and it killed my range compared to the 21” Tesla Twin Turbine. On our frequent trips to Orlando we got 440 Wh/mi compared to 353 Wh/mile on the 21”. I’m going to try a square setup instead to see if it is better.

    "Remote Start" without cellular signal?

I get spotty signal where I park, most of the time none. What I have done is use TeslaFi to schedule preconditioning. Once the set time is met, the site tries several times about 5 minutes apart. More often than not, it works.

Porsche Taycan Vs Tesla Model S: Review, Road Test, Race, Charging

The current Taycans come standard with only 50 kW charging and 150 kW optional. No word on when they will increase it to 350 kW they kept touting prerelease. I doubt the current cars will be upgradable without huge expense.

Battery level after driving most days?

My first EV was a 2013 Smart ED and it only got about 60 miles of range with a 100% charge. Even with that limited range, it was a lot more convenient to charge at night than going to the gas station every 3 days with our V8 Mercedes SUV I was using for commuting before. We didn't road trip...

Would you buy a "higher end" Model 3?

I sometimes have to remind myself that Tesla is not an European or Japanese luxury brand. They don’t have 100 years of experience and are doing something never done before. I focus on the strengths and try to enjoy the cars for what they are. When something ‘better” comes out, I will buy it, but...

Is this normal range loss within a single drive?

This is our efficiency of our 3 at various temperatures over the last ~20k miles. So 105 miles/.717= 146 miles of range used. In line with what you are seeing.

Choose my Tesla: Comparing True Cost of Ownership

I read that it’s more the high rate of charge that causes the big degradation. Especially on the 75 packs, there are fewer cells to absorb the high rate of charge and they degrade faster than the 100 packs. There is no way to reduce the charge speed when DC charging. Tesla also counts the...

How is the 3 without the HEPA filter?

Our 3 has much more dust, pollen and outside smells than our S. I can’t recall ever noticing outside smells while in our S. Especially after the price drops in early 2019, $80k for the base Raven long range is the best value they have ever offered in the S. If they could only improve the...

    2014 P85 Depreciation?

The base Long Range starts at $80k now and includes almost everything that use to be options except paint color, wheel options, interior color and full self driving. It also has 373 miles of range and does 0-60 in 3.7s.

Cabin noise compared to other luxury cars.

We got a Cadillac XTS rental car over Christmas and it was noticeably much quieter. Everything else about the XTS sucked in comparison to our S though. Our S got quieter when I switched from 21" to 20". I imagine the stock 19" are even quieter.

    2016 Model X vs 2018 Model S

No, they don’t offer MCU upgrades though they say they are working on it. I think the S interior is a big step down from 7 series. Nicer interior is one of the things I miss from our previous Mercedes.

    2016 Model X vs 2018 Model S

MCU2 is a huge difference. I would not get a MCU1 car. I’m 5’10” and the headroom is a lot less in an S since it’s designed like a 4 door coupe rather than a typical sedan. Like a 6 gran coupe than a 5 series. Tesla gives very low trade in values and will not match Carmax if trading in a...

Have an Audi R8, does a Tesla or some other EV make sense for my commute?

The ride quality in the S is a lot smoother than a 3 or X. Our S is also a lot quieter than our 3 at highway speeds. Especially quieter and smoother if you opt for the standard 19” wheels instead of 21”. My neighbor a few doors down had a 2008 r8 then got a newer one recently. His commute is...

TSportline added their logo to all their wheels - voice your disappointment!

I received my 20” TSS for Model S and they don’t have the logo block. They are probably still working through an old batch for the S. I probably should have been more careful with the tire selection since I just went with their staggered wheel/tire combo without checking. The rear with...

    Road Trip secret strategies

I’ve found that in the beginning, owners at Superchargers were much more chatty. Lately, nobody talk to anyone anymore. In winter, we found our ‘worst case scenario” is 65% efficiency of the rated range in our 3 LR RWD and about 75% in our S. So I always do my own calculations and compare to...

TSportline added their logo to all their wheels - voice your disappointment!

After looking at the TSS wheels for almost a year, I finally ordered during Black Friday and have yet to receive them. The whole point was to get the Arachnid look but in a size that I could mount all season tires or winter tires to replace my 21” Twin Turbine that came with my car. If the...

    Supercharger - Nashville, TN

We stopped here the day before Thanksgiving. Got up to 220 kW. For some reason the routing on the nav was wrong so we had to cancel it, but it was too fast. Not enough time to walk the dog, use the restroom and buy some snacks from the Kroger. We gained over 200 miles/48 kWh in 22 minutes.

Any Model S & 3 owners who still prefer their Model S...or vice versa?

I like what I like. Still like our S much better than our 3. I wish the Model S were even larger, more detached feeling and quieter, like a Mercedes S class.

Does 0 to 60 really matter? What about 55 to 75?

On mine there are four modes. Chill, Sport, Ludicrous and Ludicrous+. I drive in Ludicrous all the time and people are getting about 2.5 seconds without launch mode or Ludicrous+. L+ is the battery heating mode and combined with the launch procedure, gets you down to 2.3s or less according to...

What should Tesla be known for

I’ve been using Teslafi to schedule preconditioning for years. My previous EVs also have had scheduled preconditioning. I don’t think I’ve gotten into a hot or cold car at home or from work since 2013.

Does 0 to 60 really matter? What about 55 to 75?

There were only 6,188 Panamera sold in the US in 2011, which makes it less than 1/2 of 1% of all cars sold that year. Also of those, the Turbo accounted for about 1/3 of the sales. So it’s not in that 98.732%.

Does 0 to 60 really matter? What about 55 to 75?

Found this in another thread. Performance vs Dual Motor - highway speed 50-70: LR 2.8, LRD (AWD): 2.1, P: 1.7 Porsche 911 Turbo S (which does 0-60 in 2.7) takes 2.5 to go 50-70 McLaren 570s (also 2.7 0-60) takes 2.7 to go 50-70

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

Update for mine. About 5,000 miles since I’ve had the front suspension replaced and the sound hasn’t come back. I thought I had it on the rear also, but they found that it was coming from the cup holder and a loose trim on the hatch. Very happy when I got my car back from service and it was silent.

I had a 2016 S 60/75 RWD that got 0-60 in 5.5s. Back in March 2019 Tesla had their end of quarter fire sale and I decided to trade for a 2018 P100DL inventory discounted car for $76k after tax incentives. About a $68k discount from the 2018 price or about $30k discount from current prices. I...

Vendor Tesla Model S Flow Forged Wheels - Model TSS Available in 19" & 20"

I am thinking of the 19" TSS Flow Forged Tesla Wheel and Tire Package, but noticed the weight rating was 1,500lbs. In the manual it says the Gross Axle Weight Rating - Front = 2,866 lbs. So the rule of thumb being 1/2 the GAWR of that should be ok for 1,500 lbs. The rear says Gross Axle...
