2021 MYP Trunk Leak - bad service experiences

Any update on your issue? I've taken mine (01/2023 Austin MY LR) in to the Montreal SC twice now, and the issue is still happening. First time they couldn't reproduce so they did nothing. Second time they replaced something with the headlight(s) but also adjusted the hatch so it closed more...

    Model Y door creaking

It seems related to outdoor temperature. It was happening all summer, but not in the winter. Maybe something is expanding a bit in the dash area when it's heated up. This will never get fixed, probably.

Rear Hatch Misalignment - Will Tesla Cover it?

Maybe usually not, but I think it might be in my case. This misalignment is noticeable worse than any other Model Y I've seen so far. I've already taken it in once, so if it was the service bulletin issue why didn't they fix it?

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

I made another appointment and this time got mobile service to schedule, but then they replied that this repair wouldn't be possible in the field so I'm scheduled with the service center again. Hopefully this means they realize it's not a matter of adjusting the bumpers / stoppers. Next...

Model Y Rear Hatch Seems Misaligned/Not Flush With Roof?

From the photos, it doesn't seem that bad. If it's an aesthetic issue only, I think you have to report it within a few days and/or 100 miles or something. I suspect they won't consider this a warranty issue, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

Sorry, that sucks to hear. No update on my end, no pun intended. It's going to be another 6-hour round trip at some point. If they don't realign the hatch itself this time, I won't take the car back. I've started to carefully look at the hatch alignment on every Y I see on the road, and so far...

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

What do you mean? Ah, yes, good question about where the water is coming in. Changing the bumper stops myself seems to affect the severity of the leak, but that's hard to know for sure. This seems hard to diagnose, apparently even for the techs, because they couldn't reproduce it, but it...

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

Maybe it's worth a try given how far away Tesla is. If it's less than $200-250 I'd be ok with that.

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

I'll post a photo. Good to know that more adjustment is possible in addition to the rubber stoppers. I haven't tried a body shop because it's still early and obviously Tesla should fix this under warranty given the car is 8 months old.

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

Yes, I took plenty of photos, haha. Good advice about the TSB. The hatch is clearly misaligned, longitudinally, not vertically. One side extends past the bumper, the other doesn't reach it. I'm pretty sure there is no adjustment of the stoppers that can fix this, and that's why water keeps...

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

That's terrible. Good luck, and please post an update after the next round.

Rear Hatch Misalignment - Will Tesla Cover it?

I have water leakage past the hatch seal, and finally did the 3-hour drive to a service center and Tesla couldn't reproduce it. But now I'm realizing what the real issue seems to be: the hatch is misaligned, sticking out too far on the left, and not far enough on the right. This can't be fixed...

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

I have the same issue, but Tesla couldn't reproduce it. But now I'm realizing what the real issue seems to be: the hatch is misaligned. This is not a bumper adjustment issue, it's a body/assembly issue. My heart sank when I realized this. Is this fixable and will Tesla fix it? My car is 8 months...

    Model Y door creaking

Actually, I thought I fixed the issue but I didn't. The sound seems to actually be coming from the dash area near the door hinge, not the door itself. Very annoying. I'm taking the car in this week to fix the hatch leaking, and will also have them look into the creaking.

    Model Y door creaking

(FIXED) I did a closer inspection and it seemed to be the lower door hinge. Some dust is getting in there over time, which may have caused the creaking. I used a brush to remove the dirt/dust, wiped it clean with a cloth, put a few drops of bicycle chain lube above the hinge pivot, moved the...

    Model Y door creaking

I considered it but I didn't, because it's hard to know where exactly the sound is coming from, and I don't want to anything that could accumulate more dust/dirt and actually make something worse.

    Model Y door creaking

I have a 2023 Austin Model Y LR, with about 4k miles, and A few days ago I noticed the driver door making a creaking sound when it's nearly closed. This door has gotten by far the most use, but this is concerning after less than 6 months of ownership and only two to three trips per week. I'm...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Interesting. Will it activate without the brakes being applied? It should, but it didn't as far as I can tell.

Slipping in highway during winter - Regenerative driving problem

I think I had the same thing happen to me and it was very alarming. No ABS no ESP, the car started to rotate. I've never had this happen with any other car that has ESP, including two EVs that were rear wheel drive. Tesla needs to figure this out, it's a serious problem.

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

I'm willing to try it, maybe in a huge parking lot next time we have enough snow, but not sure how this would help unless ABS was activated in the event I experienced. What's strange is I haven't noticed ABS come on once, does the car even have it? If so how can I tell it's working? Every other...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Loss of traction wasn't my problem even though it was caused by that. I'm trying to understand why the car didn't take action to bring the rotation under control. The car couldn't know it was still on the road because the road wasn't visible.

Tesla app won’t connect to car

Yup, this worked for me, too. Strange.

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

We had some bad winter road conditions a few days ago, first time driving my new 2023 Model Y LR AWD (brand new Pirelli PZero winter tires) in really bad winter conditions, and while slowing down, the whole car started to rotate, it was terrifying. I've never had this happen in any modern car...

2023 Model Y Long Range Disappointment in boominess after Demo Drive

FWIW, I am very sensitive to LFE and my 2023 Austin Model Y LR has zero issues with this at any speed. I found the suspension too firm at first, but I am totally ok with it now, but I'm a long time BMW owner, so I'm used to a stiffer ride (especially with the horrible run-flat tires). Sorry it...

    Door closing harsh sound

PBS Newshour story says EVs cant be driven cross county - while it shows a person charging at a Tesla Supercharger!!

Yes, better choices would be nice. As a workaround, I'm going to try getting takeout anywhere before stopping to charge, and eating while charging. But we're not usually in a rush, so L2 charging and a sit-down meal is ideal for us.

    Door closing harsh sound

I've only had my model Y for about 10 days now but since the day we got it the driver's door doesn't close as quietly as all the others, but it's not all the time, maybe half the time. Is this something service can adjust? I'm worried this could cause damage over time, especially since it's the...

Delivery location is 365 miles away!?

In my case I was doing a trade-in, so it was better to drive there. We missed the worst of the arctic weather that happened that Friday-Sat. and had a great trip, went to IKEA, etc. Stopped at 4 Superchargers on the way home, it was really fun. Going to theTesla delivery center, meeting all the...

Delivery location is 365 miles away!?

Thanks so much for the reply! I was able to reach someone at the NJ. It's not taxes (that depends on registration state, not delivery.) The reason is that Massachussets won't allow anyone from VT, NH or ME to take delivery, because those states don't allow Tesla to sell there. JFC. I guess I'm...

Delivery location is 365 miles away!?

I ordered a Model Y after the price drop, it never offered to choose a delivery location (that I remember). Now Tesla is telling me to schedule delivery in Paramus, NJ. I was expecting Boston, which is still 165 miles from me, but a lot closer than 365 miles. I replied to the SMS, and emailed...

    Tesla screwed us

Perspective. It's just money, and not even real money unless you have to give up the car, which I assume you won't if you paid that much for it. If you're waking up today as a healthy person with the freedom to do what you want, you're one of the luckiest people in the world. Take advantage of...
