    Dog mode

I don't think it's obvious enough for people passing by. There are plenty of youtube videos of people breaking the door glass of cars to release the pent up animals. You need something that will flash to get peoples attention and then text large enough to be read at a great distance...

    Yes, also a possibility.

Possibly how they are getting the Roadster to 620 mi range

They’ve given test drives. You cannot achive a 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds without the 200kWh battery. Tesla Roadster performance specs are actual and not theoretical, says test driver Jay Leno Takes a Ride in the 2020 Tesla Roadster

Possibly how they are getting the Roadster to 620 mi range

So I noticed in the demo they gave for the Roadster that the frunk and trunk were unaccessible. That leads me to believe that that is where they shoved all the extra batteries needed to get the roadster up to 620 miles of range. But that of course will not work for the production version, so...

New Model Y details from supposed internal documents

It'll look like the Volvo XC40 SUV but with a rear facing 7 seat Model S "option". The development work is already done for it. Might as well use it. They took the option off of the Model S to push people towards the Model X, but also so they could then put it on the Model Y to better...

    Future SpaceX Rocket Designs

Huh.... :) Here are four things we learned from Elon Musk before the first Falcon Heavy launch FALCON SUPER HEAVY Musk was asked whether SpaceX can increase the Falcon Heavy’s performance over time, much like it has with the Falcon 9. That’s when the CEO suggested the possibility of a Falcon...

Falcon Heavy to Launch Next Month, Musk Says He's Sending His Roadster to Mars

I did tweet Elon this idea back in August. :-) But honestly, its a very obvious payload when you think about his two companies and his love of unorthodox marketing.

    New Concept - ITS Workhorse

Ok, and I think I'm not the first to say this, but I think another reason for the revised ITS is so that SpaceX can now go public with an IPO. Elon has made the design more earth centric and practical. Something that would now appeal to investors. I think SpaceX needs a very large infusion of...

    New Concept - ITS Workhorse

Well, I just saw Elon's presentation at IAC on 9/29. Have to say I'm loving the new direction. I can't help but wonder if he saw my Workhorse mockup or perhaps one of his advisors. It's almost point for point the exact same thing, right down to using the revised ITS to retrieve space junk and...

Improvements to Elon's Boring Tunnels and Car Elevators Idea

When I first saw Elon's presentation on the Boring Tunnels and Car Elevators, I loved every part of it but one. I had real issues with how the elevators integrated in with the city streets. The solution presented seemed half baked at best. Here are my ideas for improving it.

The boring company goes to mars

6b) It would need to be an ITS ship. Even if the boring machine could fit in an F9 fairing there would be no way to land it on the surface of mars. For that you would need a much larger ship like the ITS. I would put batteries as it's own line. Mars is going to need lots of batteries...

The boring company goes to mars

At the 36 minute marks she talks about needing to be down 27 meters. 100 was just a rough guess.

The boring company goes to mars

An interesting video. A fully automated process. I especially like how they use methane, SpaceX's fuel of choice, to fire the brick.

The boring company goes to mars

Does anyone else think that really the ultimate goal of the boring company is to create the first long term habitable buildings on mars? In order to protect the early setlers from solar radiation they need to go down about 100 meters below the surface of the planet. Not only that but in the...

    Falcon Heavy - General Discussion

    New Concept - ITS Workhorse

According to SpaceX’s own data the ITS booster can launch for 11 million and the ITS Tanker, their reusable second stage, can launch for 8 million. Let’s assume the cost of what I’m proposing for the second stage is more expensive per launch at say 16 million. That’s still only 27 million per...

    Tesla Semi

I actually think that battery swap is the only thing that makes sense. The key is to make it as easy and quick as possible. You locate the 600 kWh battery behind the cabin in a giant brick with the ability to slide in and out of place similar to how power tool batteries work. No need to...

Will the second row seats fold flat? If so, how?

Another benefit of the design is you wouldn't need to remove the child seats in order to fold the seats flat for cargo. Each seat could also fold flat independently so you could haul something long and yet still have room for back seat occupants. So you could fold the middle second row seat...

Model X Online Configuration by September.

That looks like the final version. You can see where the spoiler is and the tail lights are different than what was in the prototype. The badging is on there. The rear bumper is shaped differently and now includes lights or reflectors there as well. Very cool.

    Future SpaceX Rocket Designs

Another benefit is any improvements made to the design of the Falcon 9 can be easily carried over to the other Falcon Heavy configurations. While with two or more rocket sizes there is more work involved in scaling the improvements.

    Model X Update Email 11/18/2014

If they wanted to stylize it to look like the Tesla T logo than they would have lite the scene differently. This is a 3D rendering so they would have had total control of the image if that is what they were going for. I think this is accurate and not stylized.

    Model X Update Email 11/18/2014

I'm actually surprised at how similar it looks to the prototype. Wonder what's going on with the nose. Is it just masked in the photo or are they taking it in a new direction.

About time to unveil the D and something else

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet but the D could be a Model S wagon. They are popular in Europe and would not require a whole lot of effort to make since it's mostly all the same parts just a bigger rear end. Might also explain why the top part of the vehicle is obscured in the...

    Model X width

I see these as separate issues. First you should never get a system failure in a car while your driving. Tesla needs to be more careful about the software updates they are putting out. I get the feeling if the car's system never went down you wouldn't have any issues with converting the side...

Does anyone expect price cuts to the MS and MX when the Gigafactory comes online?

Just because the batteries will be 10% taller does not mean they won't be compatible with the Model S and Model X. It's entirely possible that they just simply figured out a way to reduce the battery packaging on the top and bottom by 10% thereby making the overall pack dimensions the same.
  34. S

    Model X width

It would be if they are allowed to use cameras in place of side mirrors. Then the Model S which the Model X will be based on would come in at 196.342 cm. It's entirely possible that even if this feature is not allowed in the US it could be made available to other countries. Elon and JB have...

Is Tesla is using Scrum? Should they?

So Lis G as someone who's job depends on SCRUM you therefor agree that SCRUM is best. Priceless. And ckessel if upper management hated SCRUM, SCRUM would not exist at that company since they are the ones who set policy.
  37. S

Is Tesla is using Scrum? Should they?

From my own personal experience I find the only people who like SCRUM are the upper managers who aren't being subjected to it. To them work is getting done faster. They don't care about the quality of the work only the quantity. Code is written to fulfill a requirement in the fastest way...

    Model X Roof Rack|Hitch Rack|Trailer|Toys

    Model X Roof Rack|Hitch Rack|Trailer|Toys

What a great idea! Such a simple solution. If you design it to hang over the side it can allow for the same amount of space up top as any other roof rack.

Audacious growth plans will stretch Tesla beyond its comfort zone - Automotive News

Audacious growth plans will stretch Tesla beyond its comfort zone - Automotive News

I think placing the Giga-factory in Western Arizona or Southern Nevada makes a lot more sense. It's only hours away from Hawthorne, yet still has the benefit of not being in California. Land there is cheap, plenty of space, and if you want to power it with green energy there is plenty of...
