    Pyro Fuse Fuss

Just FYI: I called my local service center. The representative had no idea what I was talking about at first but after he went and researched the question came back and told me that Tesla would be reversing the charges for the fuse replacement. He said no one in this SC knew about this change...

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

Did they say that it would be done automatically or do you think we need to individually contact them and request the refund? I paid $295 to have that work done just a week ago.

    FSD Camera upgrade - charge?

They said my car had all of the hardware necessary to run FSD. I (and others) purchased the full self drive feature; we did not purchase the HW3 computer. It is incumbent upon Tesla to make good on their commitment - a working version of FSD. If that requires more expensive hardware than they...

    FSD Camera upgrade - charge?

The bigger picture is paying for FSD and expecting Tesla to deliver on its promises, imo. The whole point of the camera upgrade is that they're necessary for FSD. They do nothing for me otherwise.

    FSD Camera upgrade - charge?

My 2017 MS is in service today for various things and decided to finally do the FSD camera upgrade(I did the AP3.0 upgrade long ago). The service center is now telling me that some cars require a special bracket to support the new cameras and that this is NOT part of what they call the 'prepaid...

    Supercharger - Sugar Land, TX

I stopped by and tried this location out yesterday. Only 8 stalls (I thought there were going to be 12?). I suspect that this is going to be a pretty busy SC site given the number of Teslas in the surrounding area and the easy on/off from Hwy-59.

Texas Supercharger Locations (location speculation, discussion)

I think it's a good thing overall as it will lead to more charging options and (hopefully) a unified standard for North America. I do remember when Tesla said the Supercharger network was never going to be used as a profit center but that was a long time ago, lol. They clearly decided a few...

The beginning of the end of free Supercharging ?

Well, perhaps you're right about the 'want', but you're not about the 'need'. Luckily, the market will kill off ICE vehicles soon enough - even here in Texas.

The beginning of the end of free Supercharging ?

If you don't mind my asking: did they replace the battery with the exact same size pack that you had originally? Was there a choice to buy a larger pack than original?
  10. AndrewTX

The beginning of the end of free Supercharging ?

That would be breach of contract if they tried. It was free supercharging for the life of the car when I bought mine.

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

I was in CS last weekend and we had to go to this HEB a couple of times. Wasn't in my Model S so didn't charge but did drive by. You were correct about the awkwardness of getting in and out of this location, lol! But that's a minor grievance.

Outstanding! It's been a long road. Thanks so much for your continuous updates on the progress.

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

Do you think a similar claim would be accepted if your car is no longer in the warranty period?

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

Thanks for the update, Jwillis! Do you ever get strange looks from others while you're doing this late at night, lol? "Who is that weirdo stalking a transformer?":)

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

Well, it's certainly happening so I'm not going to quibble over a few weeks. Certainly not, since I posted this on the front page of this thread almost exactly four years ago; https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/3275397/

Battery Degradation – 10 year report

Only 6% degradation over 10 years and 100K miles? I'm both happy for you and jealous. My 2017 MS75 has had 16% degradation, most of which happened in the first 3-4 years.

I know the area well. My TAMU student offspring live very close to it.

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

I don't get why it wouldn't be useful for the majority of the public. CSTAT really isn't that big so getting to it not really an issue. The exact placement of a supercharger is far less important than just actually having one there.

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

The Houston Metro area has about 3X the population of the SA Metro area so it does make sense that more would be put there. But there is indeed a real need for an SC in downtown San Antonio.

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

Thanks for the detailed traffic report! It's too bad that they're only planning for 8 stalls but it's certainly better than nothing. Trying to charge on game days seems potentially nightmarish.
  22. AndrewTX

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

I used to be very eager to see a supercharger in CSTAT but now that they've opened one at the Buccee's in Waller I don't really have an urgent need. It's ridiculous how long this has taken. I remember being told by a Tesla employee who claimed to be in charge of the Supercharger rollout in Texas...

    My Message to Elon Musk

We had that ability long ago when I bought my MS but Tesla decided to no longer give drivers the ability to choose which apps fill up the MCU screen a few years ago. Now navigation maps are mandatory.

    Supercharger - San Antonio, TX

They desperately need to find a location in downtown San Antonio to provide an option for the tourists visiting the Riverwalk area and also relieve pressure on residents.

Tesla Model Y Standard Range AWD to be priced at $59,990 USD

It fair to compare the Ioniq single-motor version to the MY standard AWD because Tesla doesn't offer a RWD MY. So if you don't care about AWD you have a significant cost incentive towards Hyundai.

    Supercharger - Waller, TX

I hadn’t realized that they’ve made such rapid progress on this location. I tried to plug in but no juice.
  27. AndrewTX

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

Ugh. Sorry. Try the Embassy Suites? I was up there a few weeks ago and their Tesla charger was working well. Front desk manager was happy to let me charge.

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

Each of the on-campus garages have at least a couple of chargers. I’ve never found them to be occupied, though I’ve never tried during a high-traffic time like a home football game or graduation.

    I bought mine in 2017.
  31. AndrewTX

    texas vehicle inspection

When I bought my MS I had 30 days to go to the County office and pay the taxes and registration fee since I was technically buying the car in California and having it shipped to Texas. Since the car was brand new I did not have to get it inspected; I got the 2-year inspection sticker with my...

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

I had my MCU1 with the 8GB eMMC for almost 4 years since I bought it brand new before the 64GB replacement and know all about the detritus that builds up over time with Tesla updates. That doesn't change that there is a significant performance improvement when you do the update. And given...

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

That's not been my experience after swapping out the eMMC. I find that the MCU boots up much more quickly and that the voice recognition works much better than it did previously.

Supercharger - College Station, TX - Texas Avenue South

Well, it's three years later but it looks like I might actually get my wish! For me, this is pretty much the ideal location so I'll be very happy to see it operational. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/supercharger-waller-tx.248591/

    Wow. That's insane.

PLAID damaged by TESLA minutes before delivery!

Maybe I just view things differently but as long as the damage was repaired properly I wouldn't care about any potential loss in value. If you're keeping the car four years or longer, would this make any difference to its resale price? That's really hard to believe.

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

I just got the EMMC replacement for my MCU1 and am pleased with the performance. Voice commands work much better, the car starts up much faster, and the web browser actually works. If it stays this way I doubt that I will pay to upgrade to MCU2.

    MCU and AP3 upgrades

    Koolaid drinker? Lol.
  40. AndrewTX

    MCU and AP3 upgrades

Tesla maintains that MCU2 is not required for FSD by saying that the only thing you miss by having MCU1 is the visualizations in the IC. I'm in the same position as you (2017 MS w/MCU1 and AP3) and feel that they are really skirting the ethical edge but are probably within their rights to hold...

Left scroll wheel no longer controls volume

Happy to report that the patch release fixed this for me as well. Back to normal operation.
  42. AndrewTX

Left scroll wheel no longer controls volume

That seems more likely to be another bug than an actual efficiency improvement. Most likely it has more to due with your recent driving speed, etc. and the weather than a software update.
  43. AndrewTX

Left scroll wheel no longer controls volume

Nothing of any consequence that I can recall.
  44. AndrewTX

Left scroll wheel no longer controls volume

Glad to hear that 1) I'm not alone and 2) a software patch may have already fixed this. I'm installing the update right now and will report if this fixes mine as well.

Left scroll wheel no longer controls volume

I'm not familiar with the power down reboot you're referring to? Can you educate me about it? Is there a link with the details? Thanks!

Left scroll wheel no longer controls volume

Yes, the wheel works as normal in every other function I've tried.

Left scroll wheel no longer controls volume
